I am taking my mom to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. We considered the Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota, but it is too damn hot here already, so we'll do that for one of her birthdays which falls in March. I'll probably skype my girls. My youngest is expecting with her first next month, so this is her first mothers day. DH is in TN right now so we won't have time together.

I can add that my son always gives me a card that has me and is so appropriate at the same time.
Last years card: 60's mom standing over stove and says "Well, honey, I don't give a rat's ass if you think peas are gross. You'll eat them and you'll like them.
Inside card: Mom thank you for your gentle encouragement through the years. Happy Mother's Day. Love NNP's son.
Back story: A friend wanted him to come out and play and I told him when he ate his peas he could go (he was about 4) He said he would eat 4 and that counted as eating his peas. To this day he hates peas and it is a running joke - hence the card!!

Was talking to my buddy yesterday who is taking his 5 year old out of school Friday in the afternoon so she doesn't have to be around when all the other kids are making cards for their moms, her mom died when she was 2. This is an incredibly hard day to get through for a lot of people that have lost their mom or couldn't have kids of their own. Maybe this should be another thread, but what do people generally do on Mother's Day if their Mom is dead? Last year it really didn't compute much, but this year feels weirder. Especially since I am now the family matriarch of our micro Family, although middle sister is the only one currently with kids. Mom was one of five, and only the last two are still on planet. Both men.

Sushi usually brings me a dead spider. "So, are you going to eat that?" You give it to the lizard or bird that is willing to eat dead insects. I'll consider it a plus if Crestie, the male crested gecko, remains alive during unrelenting pollen season. (Currently my only critter)

Mom is deceased so I'm going to see David Crosby and will be recovering on Sunday. Well that asks for a more complex response, so here goes: , ,and I plan to enjoy the concert and the meet and greet to the fullest. That means there won't be a lot of sleep, so Sunday will consist of lots of napping.

I do believe it is a marine rehabilitation facility. I do think they have some things that are also what you might typically see at an aquarium.

I share a birthday with swamps daughter (and both my sons have baseball games), and mother's day with a MIL that barely does anything. What I'm doing this weekend: as little as I can get away with.

I don't plan to celebrate it this year. My mother had a hemorrhagic stroke last Monday, and passed on Friday. She would have been 81 on May 11.
🙁

otherwise, I had been planning on making her a shadow box filled with live succulents, and just spending the day with her.

So sorry for your loss moon.
My mother passed away years ago so until I had kids I always celebrated with my grandma. My sister made reservations for 15 of us for lunch this year.
I asked DH to make canned cinnamon rolls and fruit salad with DS for me for breakfast.

maybe I'll adopt mom's neighbor.
Known her since I was a kid and she's like a mom to me. Her own daughter is a POS.
