I believe they have made strides but the population keeps increasing and the air currents trap the pollution into the city areas due to the mountain range to the east.

In 1977, I lived in Broomfield Colorado, ( Hi Moonbeam) I thought we had smog in Colorado at that time,

Took a trip to Cali for a wedding spent a couple of days there ,, Went to Disneyland,

There I learned what smog looked like,, The Sun was an orange ball in the sky,, you did not need any eye protection at all to look at it,, if the hills were two miles away,, you might be able to see them!

But now that the smog is much better (from my trip thru Cali last Summer) Traffic is much worse though,

So the smog is caused by Climate Change,,, Sure!

The reason for the downturn in air quality (i.e., air quality has gotten worse) is climate change and wildfires. Smog was always here.  It's gotten worse.

This kind of pollution is why I support many environmental measures. I don't need scientific studies to show me the effects of pollution in many big cities. I also live in a city that has spent the last 50 years trying to clean up the mess made by the mining companies in the area. There are lots of good reasons to cut down on carbon emissions.
