Has anyone tried them?
While questing for Triscuits at the grocery store today, I found myself at the cookie end of the cookies-and-crackers aisle and remembered reading about Carrot Cake Oreos at about the same time I spotted them on the shelf. Somehow they found their way into my shopping cart. I have just eaten one. It tasted of failed ambition and too much ginger. There was a picture of carrot cake on the package, but the cookie did not taste like carrot cake, at least not good carrot cake. They're not bad cookies, they're just bad carrot-cake cookies.
Has anyone else tried them? What did you think?

I thought the exact same thing. Too much ginger and not carrot-cakey. Good to know I'm not the only one.

Why? Oreos are kinda good. Carrot cake is “dessert” masquerading as a healthy thing.
Confession: I like generic sandwich cookies much better than Oreos. The chocolate to creme ratio is better.

In the years of my 'maturity' my taste buds have changed or the Oreo cookie has changed. To me the filling tastes like sweet grease and the cookie has no chocolate flavor at all.
Somehow carrot cake oreos are not on my radar.

I like the carrot cake Oreos, not because they really taste like carrot cake (for me, it's texture - carrot cake is soft and moist), but because their "cream cheese frosting" filling gives me a cream cheese frosting fix in reasonable serving sizes.

I haven't seen any carrot cake oreos at the grocery store yet
Anyway, I don't really like oreos. They are meh to me.
Besides that, I don't trust their special flavors.
A while back they got a dulce de leche edition. Being where I'm from, dulce de leche is one of my favorite flavors.
I bought the cookies, they weren't dulce de leche, they were coffee. I even asked a friend and she told me the same thing, the cookies tasted like coffee.

Somehow carrot cake oreos are not on my radar. DH and I have both discussed this about oreos. We are convinced they changed the cookie from what it used to be. Seems more like a chemical concoction than a type of food now. No way in heck would I try their carrot cake version.

sesfw - The regular Oreo filling IS sweet grease. It's lard with sugar. And I guess the cookie never tasted like chocolate to me. It tasted like something that was chocolate flavored. I've never been a huge fan, but there is the childhood memory of dunking Oreos in milk, etc.
Of the recent variety of flavors, the Nutella filled ones were my favorite. Again, I like the carrot cake Oreos, but as something to have once every few months. If we're buying sandwich cookies, for the most part, we're buying generic vanilla flavored sandwich cookies. Those are the favorite in our house. But the cream cheese frosting filling of the carrot cake Oreos would make them worth picking up again.

Interesting to see the comments regarding how Oreos overachieve on "sweet." I tried another Carrot Cake Oreo after lunch today and decided that the main problem is not so much the too much ginger (which it does have) but the too much sugar, especially in the filling. My neighbor has teenagers who will eat anything. They have adopted the remainder of my Carrot Cake Oreos. I should have known I wouldn't like them as other new "flavors" have been a disappointment in the past. As others have mentioned, Oreos (the chocolate ones, anyway), used to be a nice treat once in a while, but I no longer enjoy them. Whether that is due to age or a change in the product, I have no idea. Anyway, I will have to remind myself not to be temped the next time they introduce a new "flavor;" it never ends well.
Now I'm sad. Partly because the Carrot Cake Oreos were a disappointment but mostly, I think, because I was kind of excited about a new flavor of Oreos.
I really need to get out more.

I like the lemon Oreos, thin or regular. I still like the regular Oreos but am kind of leery about some of the strange flavors they have put out lately. I've tried the red velvet ones, they were OK, but not worth the calories since it was nothing like either treat.

Birthday cake Oreos were awesome! I thought they would be so so, but wow! Good thing I can't find any more on the shelf. They must have been a limited time flavor.

DH and I have both discussed this about oreos. We are convinced they changed the cookie from what it used to be. Seems more like a chemical concoction than a type of food now. No way in heck would I try their carrot cake version. I've read speculation that what's changed is that junk food manufacturers have stopped using partially-hydrogenated vegetable oils (a type of trans fat) and that most of those items don't taste as good as we remember. I've noticed that with Hostess Zingers, which used to be my guilty indulgence- the frosting isn't as rich as it was. Well, I sure don't need them in my diet. My only highly-processed empty calorie indulgence now is Nutter Butter cookies, which I have every time I donate blood. If those ever disappear from the blood bank's snack area I'll donate elsewhere.

I don't have a sweet tooth, actually hate chocolate, and am generally good after a couple bites of a dessert. I love these things. there's a package in my desk at work, I've been working through it a cookie or two at a time. I discovered them when one of my cabinmates brought a package on the cruise back in Jan. after breakfast, these were basically the only thing I ate the whole trip.
are they as good as carrot cake? not even close. do they scratch the sugar itch? absolutely.

I have a former co-worker who works for the company that makes oreos. Her title is Manager of Biscuit technology. I think that would be for the cookies and crackers. I just picture her job eating oreos. She started out in the Cadbury division! It's a tough job, someone has to do it

I'm confused - what are the "these things" you love so much? I'm hungry but not feeling great. Nothing tastes good or right when this happens. #LupusSux is my new tagline. The frosting is Oreos really does taste different. It's too smooth and not as sweet. The chocolate cookie part is also different. I'm more of a Reeses connoisseur, in which I have not much change. However, the holiday editions of Reeses like Easter eggs or Christmas shapes are extra good. They seem to have different ratios of peanut butter to chocolate.

I believe she is referring to the Carrot Cake Oreos mentioned in the OP. They are new. They taste very sweet to me and have too much ginger, so the resemblance to carrot cake is minimal. After trying them, it is my opinion that the only element significantly reminiscent of carrot cake is the picture of the slice of carrot cake on the package. Sorry you have to deal with lupus. I hope you are feeling better soon. You could try the Carrot Cake Oreos if you like things that are very sweet and have too much ginger, but don't be surprised if they disappoint.

I really liked the thin mint ones. The lemon ones are also pretty good. I haven't tried the carrot cake ones yet, sad to hear they are mediocre. Most of the flavors have been a letdown, yet I persist in trying new ones.

I like the Trader Joe's version of mint chocolate sandwich cookies covered in dark chocolate with crushed peppermint candy sprinkles (there's a term for that, but I cannot remember it). They are only available during the holidays and always sell out quickly.

yes, the carrot cake Oreos. I've tried a couple other non-chocolate ones, and they are way too sweet for me. too many of the carrot cake ones would be as well, but 1 or 2 are fine.

Speaking of carrot cake, restauranteur Cameron Mitchell, who owns a number of establishments around the country, but mainly in Ohio and big cities in the U.S. has a very famous carrot cake on his menu. The restaurant closest to us is Orlando, and I may need to go there for this: The rest of the menu looks great but this is a pretty epic slice of carrot cake, I think.

Ok had to try them. They are pretty sickeningly sweet and taste too strongly of ginger, but they are really good with coffee.

They were a limited time cookie and I'm not sure if they're coming back this summer or not.
