Pampering

After all I'm going through I need some TLC and pampering.
I already booked all my vacation time for the year for the trip back home I do during the holidays
But I need a break in routine and to get away from everything once things are fixed. I've never done anything really special for myself. I've always been more the pamperer than the pampered.
My idea is to take two weeks unpaid and spend them somewhere nice with my mom during the summer.
Option one would be Elizabeth NJ. There's a large community of expats, fabulous restaurants and proximity to NYC
Option two Miami which would be even cooler but I want to avoid the hassle and expense of air travel.
Any other ideas?
By the way, a while back I had a thread about doing something special for my birthday. I ended up taking my trip back home a few days earlier so I can be present at my brothers birthday. It's a few days before the holidays and 3 weeks after mine. Now we celebrate together and do a barbecue for family and friends

When I think I need some extra pampering I usually hope to schedule my once or twice a year man/pedi, maybe see a recent movie a theater.
2 extra weeks off work plus going out of town sounds amazing.

It would be a once-in-a lifetime thing. At this moment I feel a need to break away and be somewhere different for a while. I've been through a lot the last few weeks.
By the way, I do not like mani-pedis, massages, day spas, etc.

I also don't know if employer would agree to give me 2 weeks. I know my manager will say "yes" but ask me to pick a slow time of the year, so probably around the 4th of July. I'll take at least a 4 day weekend for sure. if I don't get approved for 2 weeks.

I don't know, Tennesseer, I'm not wild at all.
I just want a break I want to be somewhere nice, if possible near the beach in good weather, where I don't have to worry about anything for a couple of weeks.

Then why don't you stay at the Jersey shore, as opposed to Elizabeth? You could take a ride up to Elizabeth for the day. We have some beautiful shore areas. Book it soon though, because it fills up in the summer months. You would probably love Cape May.

I am thinking South Carolina. If I can go in early September and hit Myrtle Beach and Charleston, the weather will probably still be gorgeous down there. I've been wanting to visit for a long time.
It's a 13 hour drive from me, but if I do it in two days and stop somewhere nice it would be ok.

Won't two weeks without pay really hurt? You've been hard hit with the water damage, etc.
You already mention a definite 4 days. Build off that and make it a week to spend somewhere.

I'm also ordering a couple of books I've been wanting to read and my library doesn't have.
They are already in my Amazon cart. I'm checking them out.

Charleston is great. If you like the beach, it's a couple hours farther, but Hilton Head is wonderful. Much nicer than Myrtle Beach.
