When the big Credit issue blew up last year for Equifax, I froze my credit at Equifax and Transunion. I tried to freeze my credit at Experian but I don't know if it worked and it is frozen or if it did not work and it is not frozen.
I had a login id and pw at one point. I think I know the login id, but I do not know the Pin it is asking me for. I tried to call them, but they ask me two questions, something like: do you want to order your free credit report and do you want access to your credit monitoring (that you pay for?). My need doesn't seem to fit either criteria, and when I asked for a customer service rep, the response was Goodbye, and it hung up on me.
I tired sending them a copy of my Driver's license and my bank statement with a letter asking them to freeze my credit. I got no response. I had two printouts from them, one asked me for a copy of my SS card, and the other did not. I did not send them my SS card, b/c I was paranoid I was providing too much info to someone who might steel my id.
If I needed to apply for credit, I could not unfreeze my Credit b/c I don't have a pin.
I don't know how to proceed. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

They don't let you send a password/pin recovery request? Like one of those "forgot your password" links?

There are no humans at any of the Credit bureau's only machines.

They don't let you send a password/pin recovery request? Like one of those "forgot your password" links? I tried again. Their voice mail system is so cryptic. I chose security freeze, unlock freeze, then it asked for pin, and I said I don't have and it finally gave me a human. The human was not particularly helpful either, but she again told me where to go, I filled out name, address, ss # and birthdate and then it came back and asked me about an Auto we purchased prior to March 2018. (yesterday I did not know which questions to answer how, b/c I was not sure if they had actually ever frozen my credit), today when I called and chose lift a freeze, it told me my credit was frozen, so I knew I was answering that Q correctly.
DH just bought a truck last year, but it was after March and I think it is a 2018, it said what year was the car: 2012, 2013.2015 or 2016 or other.
I tried to call DH, but he did not answer his phone. Now mind you I am not on all the loans. We have a 2012 CRV. (There was a loan, and my name was on it but it has been paid off for ages) We have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, we also had a 2013 Hyundai Elantra but it is gone. It was replaced by a 2016 2017 Subaru Legacy (DD's car). We also have a 2016 or 2017 Mustang but I am positive I am not on that loan. I didn't think I was on the 2013 Hyundai loan, but we have like one payment left and I just looked at the paperwork and I am almost positive I am on the loan. I think the term was 66 months. So, I chose the Santa Fe loan, thinking that was the most recent one that I would be on, and then it asks term: 24, 36, 48, 60 or other ...I chose other.
I failed. I don't know why I didn't remember that I am on the loan for DD's car. (I know it is 0% interest, I think 5 years not positive). $#%&
So now I got the request to mail them a letter, with one copy of a government issued id card, a copy of my SS card, and a copy of a utility bill or bank statement.
I did this once already and I got no response. It is not an emergency, I just want to have the # in case I need to unfreeze it. Apparently it is Frozen, so there is that.
Last time I played the answer a random question game what tripped me up was that I am a authorized signer on both my adult kids bank accounts.

That does sound annoying. I have a password keeper app on my phone that I use. No way I could remember all my passwords and pins.
I've tried before to get incorrect info updated, but never got a response from any of the credit bureaus, so you aren't the only who has issues with them. I hope I never have to deal with anything worse because I don't think they will be much help.
When Equifax had their data breach they didn't do much to correct the issues, in my opinion. I really don't think the credit bureaus should be allowed to get away with some of the stuff they do.
