TheOtherMe - Here is the phone number that showed up on my CID along with the caller name of 'Capital Bank': (423) 491-4383 . Is it the same number which called you? I had posted the call info on 800Notes on April 9th and then somebody else the next day, April 10th, received the same call from the same phone number and the CID also said 'Capital Bank'. 800Notes CID says unknown and the calls start with more than one prefix.

They are out and about!!!
My phone just called me to say someone just called the house phone to collect the electric bill money.
I LOL’d because I don’t even know our house phone #, so I doubt our electric company knows that # to collect money even if they needed too.

I'm sure they wanted you to pay for your electric bill in $20 Amazon gift cards. Just read the gift card codes over the phone to them and your electric bill is now paid in full.

I love the show "Marketplace". It's very well done. This episode deals with cyber-crimes out of illegal call centers in India, posing as the IRS or the Canadian Revenue Agency. I don't know if you can see this video in the USA, but it's pretty interesting. www.cbc.ca/marketplace/episodes/2017-2018/scam-centres

OMG I just saw a post in my neighborhood Facebook yard sale site. “Work from home responding to e-mail, daily paycheck”. Response to one of the inquiries was “just send me your bank routing and account number”.
Seriously, why do people not understand this is a scam. Responding to email is not a job.

It’s part of my job. The part I hate the most, of course, but I’m doing it right now. Ok, I’m not doing it right now, just avoiding it. And I’d love a daily paycheck. But how about you just give me a paper check, I don’t have a bank account... 😉

Just saw another one, "first 2 people who respond with a <specific> picture and bank account information will get $2000". Sure you will!

Received a call from a toll free number last night at 9:15 PM. I was already in bed and didn't answer.
Googled the number this morning. It was some place holding themselves out to be St. Jude's Hospital and needing updated credit card information. Tons of reported calls in the last month.
I'm not on St. Jude's list of donors so nothing needs to be updated.
