I think it would be great if Democratic primary voters would select a candidate campaigning on a pledge to work with Congress to reestablish a more even balance of power between the Executive and Legislative Branch. Turn the 2020 election into a referendum on Executive power and let the American people decide if we will continue on a path of ever greater consolidation of power in the Presidency or have an effective legislative check on that power.

Good thoughts Bills....only problem is that most of DT's supporters wouldn't understand the whole thing....and a lot of others wouldn't either or they wouldn't both to find out what it all meant.

My Trumpette SIL believes the best government is one that is completely shut down, so I'm sure she would applaud all the power in DC resting with the president and no where else.

Until that president is a democrat, anyway.

Wait till the next Democrat president get into office, and they hire 1,500 more employees, to check to make sure the energy employees, are doing their jobs.

And that is the challenge of giving every American citizen the right to select a President. But it has been decided that the members of the Electoral College will be selected by the popular vote of eligible American citizens within each state and that said members will not be free to exercise independent judgement. So unless we change those factors, we are stuck with doing the best we can with what we got.

We had a discussion once about prayer in school - I asked her since she wanted kids to pray in school, would she be okay if kids prayed Jewish prayers, or Hindu prayers?

She looked blank. I don't think it occurred to her that other people would want their kids to pray in their own way - she just assumed the schools would all use Methodist prayers, because Methodists are the only ones with God's ear.

I would love that, but it only works if you get rid of Mitch McConnell and his kind. His sole purpose is to stop Democrats from doing anything. Cut, print, end of story. He has no interest in working with anyone who doesn't agree with him.

I had a geology teacher who thought we should just the toxic waste as close as possible to a subduction zone in the ocean, let earth recycle it by pulling it down into the core.
