Kristjen Neilsen will be ending her portrayal of the gov't version of Cruella Deville. She has officially resigned & promises to torture puppies not kids from this point forward.

I hope Betsy Devos is the next to leave, or get fired. The only problem is, they'd get someone who is 10 times worse...

That said it doesn’t seem clear he has the right to nominate acting for this position...

The Ouster of Kirstjen Nielsen Is Part of Stephen Miller’s Overhaul for More Extreme Officials: CBSHomeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was reportedly shown the door Sunday, during a meeting with President Donald Trump. It’s part of a larger overhaul of the entire department at the hands of top aide Stephen Miller, CBS News reported. “Nielsen’s expected departure is a part of a massive DHS overhaul engineered and directed by top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, according to a senior U.S. official,” the report said. “It’s unclear whether Nielsen is deciding to resign voluntarily, or whether she has been pressured to resign. Nielsen has served as DHS secretary since December 2017, and questions about how much longer she might last have swirled for months, as the president continues to articulate his frustrations about illegal immigration.” This week, it was revealed Miller convinced Trump to drop his appointee for ICE after Senate Leader Mitch McConnell changed the rules to push the president’s appointees through faster and without public debate. Trump reportedly dismissed current ICE acting director Ronald Vitiello from consideration for the permanent position because Miller wanted someone “tougher.” Complete article here: The Ouster of Kirstjen Nielsen Is Part of Stephen Miller’s Overhaul for More Extreme Officials: CBS

In the past Trump has argued that the Vacancies Act would override existing protocols in the succession of leadership, and succeeded because the language in those cases, the AG for instance, was not precise, however the DHS is precise in its language on vacancies and Claire Grady should move into that position based on 6 U.S.C. 113(g).
Not that anyone thus far has made Trump actually follow a rule of law...

How the hell does someone like Miller get into the position of dictating who runs Homeland Security?
The guy reminds me of Worm Tongue in Lord of the Rings - creeping around the throne, whispering in the ear of the king, but really working for Steve Bannon and his hard right nationalists.
I'm curious to see who Miller tries to cram into that position. Does the head of DHS have to be approved by Congress or can Miller push an orc into that position?

There is a reason there are so many 'acting' persons in charge right now... Trump and his ilk are bypassing congress... not sure why, congress has also given him whatever he wants. But there it is.

So apparently Trump fired Nielsen because she resisted reinstating the large scale separation of immigrant families and their kids at the border. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-has-for-months-been-urging-administration-to-reinstate-child-separation-policy/ar-BBVJtJo
I really question Trump's political IQ. Child separations were only popular with the hard core Stephen Miller types. I don't think it was wildly popular even with most GOPers. Politically, what does Trump gain from going back to that strategy? He already has the support of the Stephen Miller types, but he needs to court the rest of the GOP vote and try to lure in some Dems if he hopes to win in 2020. I don't think he earns any political points when opponents can superimpose his face over child cages for political ads.

there is no Secretary of Homeland Security, no Secretary of Defense, no Secretary of the Air Force, no U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, no Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director, no Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator, no Secretary of the Interior, no Administrator of the Small Business Administration, no Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director, no Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Administrator, and no Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner.

Could that be trumps plan all along ?
First get rid of all the secretaries/directors, take over the entire executive branch, then the country, then the world ?
This should be investigated.
Something is definitely afoot.
All the signs are there.

Trump Designates Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a Foreign Terrorist GroupWASHINGTON — President Trump said on Monday that he was designating a powerful arm of the Iranian military as a foreign terrorist organization, the first time that the United States had named a part of another nation’s government as such a threat and raising the risk of retaliation against American troops and intelligence officers. The move, which has been debated at the highest levels within the administration, was imposed on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The military unit has carried out operations across the Middle East, trained Arab Shiite militias and taken part in a wide range of businesses in Iran. Top Pentagon and C.I.A. officials oppose the designation, which they argue would allow hard-line Iranian officials to justify deadly operations against Americans overseas, especially Special Operations units and paramilitary units working under the C.I.A.Complete article here: Trump Designates Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a Foreign Terrorist Group

www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/woman-accused-of-illegal-entry-to-mar-a-lago-had-numerous-electronic-devices-thousands-in-cash/ar-BBVJR9K
Frankly, I think the SS ought to refuse to protect Trump at Mar A Lago on the grounds that it can't be adequately protected. There's thousands of guests, staff, service people, delivery people, etc running in and out of there daily. I'm sure Trump would be pissed if the people who paid $200,000 per year to belong to the club were inconvenienced by SS people being overly intrusive. So not only does Trump sit and blab private information in the open dining room where any guest can hear it, we now have Chinese spies getting past security and into the club.
If Trump had any concern for his own safety and for the tax payer's dollars he'd stay at the WH and practice his swing in the $50,000 golf simulator he had installed.

Here is why Nielson is out: "He just wants to separate families," said a senior administration official.
Last night, on the second floor of the East Wing of the White House residence -- in a room called the yellow oval -- Nielsen, Mulvaney and the President met. Nielsen tried to present a path forward that was legal and in compliance with US laws but the President said to her, "This isn't working." And Nielsen did not disagree.
"At the end of the day," a senior administration official said, "the President refuses to understand that the Department of Homeland Security is constrained by the laws." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-pushed-to-close-el-paso-border-told-agents-not-to-admit-migrants-and-to-resume-family-separations/ar-BBVJNG6 Trump wants to illegally prevent asylum seekers to enter at legal ports of entry, and illegally separate kids of asylum seekers from their parents.
If my boss expected me to break the law for him, I'd be out the door, too.

U.S. judge orders halt to Trump asylum policy(Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Monday issued an injunction halting the Trump administration’s policy of sending some asylum seekers back across the southern border to wait out their deportation cases in Mexico. The ruling is slated to take effect on Friday, according to the order by U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg in San Francisco. The preliminary injunction will apply nationwide. The ruling removes at least temporarily a controversial Trump administration strategy aimed at slowing a flood of immigrants, many of them families from Central America, that swelled last month to the highest level in a decade. Because of limits on how long children are legally allowed to be held in detention, many of the families are released to await U.S. immigration court hearings, a process that can take years because of ballooning backlogs. This just feels really Ominous. Stephen Miller Wants someone different? Who is in charge? Miller was unhappy with her performance not Trump? At the center of Trump's Homeland chaos, Stephen Miller is the lone survivorThe iconoclastic hard-line young conservative policy aide to President Donald Trump, hated by the left, and celebrated by the extreme right, is the obvious winner in the power struggle that led to Kirstjen Nielsen's ouster Sunday night as Homeland Security secretary. He's unofficially taking the reins of border security amid a purge at the department that has also seen Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex" Alles removed from his job and Trump's pick to head the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, Ron Vitiello, yanked. Miller's always had a strong hand in the administration's internal wars over immigration policy, but now there's no one left to fight him. "Stephen Miller's fingerprints are all over Secretary Nielsen's resignation letter," said Dan Eberhart, a major Republican donor who is in touch with administration officials. "Trump wants to double down on the immigration strategy and Nielsen was apoplectic at the idea of closing the border."
