This discussion is about President Trump using Twitter to announce that "I will be CLOSING the Border, or large sections of the Border, ...". I find it inappropriate for the President to announce such a move using a tweet. A full statement that details what "CLOSING" means instead of using all capital letters, as if that offers meaning in the real world, would give the American people answers instead of leaving everyone guessing. To me the discussion is about what he tweeted ... As a liberal, I have serious differences concerning desired policies than President Trump. But he is the elected President until he isn't. As an American, I have serious differences concerning suitable official conduct by any person holding the office of President of the United States than what is evidenced as suitable by the current office holder. This thread is one in a series of threads that I have started to highlight when his official conduct is outside of what I think is suitable. It is my hope that enough American voters decide his official conduct is so extremely not acceptable that they help vote him out of office (regardless of his policy positions). FWIW, I think your analysis of the "what he tweeted" has merit concerning those who blindly support him.

If avocados are no longer available, prepare for all the suburban moms and hipsters to freak out. The next civil war will be about avocados.

How exactly is the Mexican government or whoever he was referring to, supposed to prevent individuals from entering the US illegally? Our government can't force American citizens to stop doing a lot of things they shouldn't be doing, so I'm confused about what he expects them to do to stop it.

We asked the US to please control the number of border jumpers who cross into Canada. They didn't. They did absolutely nothing.
But Trump is demanding that Mexico do something? That's rich. However, we didn't close the border because that would be STUPID!

I can swim the river right to Canada, and nobody will bother me. I'm pretty sure Mexico is the same. You just leave. No one stops you.

Trump's a moron who wants to disrupt international trade. Canada and Mexico do a booming business. Now we won't be able to get Mexican produce?

Opinion piece Fox News' '3 Mexican Countries' gaffe perfectly sums up Trump's policiesOn Sunday morning, an on-screen banner for an episode of “Fox & Friends” displayed “Trump Cuts Aid to 3 Mexican Countries” during a segment on the administration’s cut of hundreds of millions of dollars of promised foreign aid to help Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador deal with their ongoing security crisis. Later in the day, Fox News issued an apology and clarified that they knew these nations were part of Central America and not of Mexico. However, the damage was done and the screenshots of the banner had been displayed far and wide among social media circles. Responses ranged from horror to laughter at the geographical mistake. Among Latinos/as, it confirmed that Fox News is not sensitive or knowledgeable of issues important to our community. I am originally from Costa Rica and I laughingly posted on Facebook that little did we know that, as Central Americans, we belonged to Mexico — and to please pass the mescal. Setting aside the humor, there are two important conclusions to draw on the timing of Fox News’ mistake: * the Trump administration’s view of Central America * the impending closure of the U.S.-Mexico border because of the recent surge of migrants Complete article here: Fox News' '3 Mexican Countries' gaffe perfectly sums up Trump's policies

Another way Trump is trying to fuck America's closest friend and ally over.... OTTAWA - Business leaders are warning that the Trump administration's threat to tighten the U.S. embargo on Cuba could sideswipe Canadian companies that are doing business on the Caribbean island. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce says it is worried that the United States could enact a never-before-used section of the 1996 Helms Burton Act that would allow Americans to sue foreign companies linked to Cuban properties that were confiscated after its 1959 revolution. www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/trump-spat-with-cuba-could-hit-canada/ar-BBVv4s3?li=AAggNb9Where the hell did you FIND this asshole?

TV. We just recast him on a different "Reality" show. Oh. I thought you found him under a rock. Or under a bridge. I'm guessing he was under a rock. Wish he would've stayed there. I actually pity the next president who goes to the White House when he's out. It's going to take more than 4 years to clean up the mess that will be left behind.

Mexico could stop the majority of them at Mexico's' southern border …………. Isn't that what Obama asked them to do, and they did and that is why the numbers dropped pretty significantly over the past few years?

I think he works with the same MO he had in his private business.. He issues a grand proclamation, and then his aides scurry to carry it out. Or, if it is wacky enough, use their wile and charm to dissuade him of it (I presume) That doesn't work so well in government as it does in business though. And in business it is dangerous to function of the cuff like that, which may be one of the reasons he declared bankruptcy so many times. Damn, I still can't believe this rube is President sometimes! It survived in his business because he likely wasn't making his proclamations by emailing the entire company. He'd rant about his ideas to the VPs or whatever and they'd likely ignore the really stupid stuff and if they were any good at business actually flesh out his other ideas. I work for a large company and I've met the CEO once (and a lot here haven't) and get company wide emails from him maybe once a quarter, if that. I bet you no one told Trump how to company wide email. Or made a dummy account.

Trump owned his company and wasn't reporting to a board. He used mostly investors money and said he got out before losing any and the investors could afford the loss. Not the great deal maker he says he is. Just a con man born with money. No wonder he's such a horrible president.

It's good, if you don't know that closing the border means stopping all traffic at the ports of entry. All traffic... As a joke about Trump, it's good as it's funny. I guess our posters will have no problem understanding the economic size differential between the US and Mexico. And Trumps threat of complete border closing, will be just as effective as the little short one earlier, that got Mexico to move that first caravan 15 miles back from the border. Like the tariffs, the comparative effect on the US economically, is very small. On Mexico, not so small. As Klain asserts, maybe we don't need the wall, after the squeeze is on Mexico, a little bit. I can see it as a 50 billion savings.

Quote; A closed border is a border that prevents movement of people between different jurisdictions with limited or no exceptions associated with this movement.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_borderIf that is not acceptable, my return question is, how do you know it's not ?
