Wondering how so many of you hold fulltime jobs, some have families with kids, and still have time to post here all the time. I am retired. I do not have to get up early and do it anyway. I am retired and can go to bed early if I want, although most of the time it is lights out by 11:30 pm. I generally do a two mile walk in the morning looking at the flowering plants and trees observing the "wildlife" as I walk. Maybe spend a couple of hours five times a week at the pool, go out to eat two or three times a week, drinks included. Spend about an hour a day during the week checking investments and the markets deciding to leave everything ride or make a trade or two. Spend a couple of hours a day on cable news, but could be here at the same time if I wanted, as regardless of what cable station you watch all they do is repeat the same old thing over and over and over and over...... Then I come here and see so many posters are posting while at work, or at home while working or taking care of the kids etc..... I guess my multi tasking days are over. I just cannot do three things at once anymore.
Is the lack of multitasking issue a good thing or a bad thing for me?

I probably shouldn’t post so much while at work, but it helps break up the day.

Crabby and I had always been into investing. As a result, both of us retired very early. I am not here constantly, but check in several times a day. I still "work" on my day trading, but not so much as before. When Crabby retired, I showed her how to trade and she did well. It was more fun before she passed, but still beats the work routine.

I am here a lot because I am bored. The TV runs in the background, I listen to Bloomberg more then anything to get away from the "trump" news. No matter what, detest the man. So I try and ignore him much as possible. I really fear for the country now as he will turn all his hate and bigotry loose on us. Anyway sick of him and wish the news would report more, I got to Newsy on Pluto and at least it is just cut and dried news about many places and things.
Can do the basics, vacuum, laundry, cook, and still type. It's a life line to other human beings. I think of getting off facebook, then think twice. I'm tired of it but unless I want to drive 100 not much in the way of entertainment. I'm also retired, health issues haven't helped. I haven't driven at night in some time, can, but not real comfortable doing so. Hubs only wants to watch TV when he is home. I'm not much into volunteering like our neighbors are, that's how they fill their time. That and visiting grandkids and her surgeries. She will be the bonic woman soon.
So here I am, not solely by choice but nothing to do out here. I was doing ok until they started closing all the stores and things in the nearby city. Other then groceries, no shopping. Ordered curtains from Pennys as I think they will be next to close our local store. Haven't bought any clothes since last year when they closed Macys, other then one or two items from Pennys and a pair of pants or two from Walmart. I have sewed and made 2 blouses and a jacket. Mended lots and altered pants for DD. Guess I will make my clothes.
I don't know what others do, but when I worked and had kids, there is no way I could have had time to be on here too. And was to busy at work to do so.
DD lays in bed all day except the 2 days she goes to the center, she needs to go more. She is likely as depressed at I am. We live in a beautiful home, want for nothing, and bored to death most of the time.

country girl, retirement is whatever you make it out to be. If I was still spending winters in northwest Indiana, I would be basically shadowing your post above. I get it. My wife is much more social than I am. I do not relish a lot of small talk, but you would think you are on a cruise in the Carribean if you start talking with strangers as people are from all over the world just enjoying theirselves here in the winter, and they are not all retired as the working people are also vacationing here enjoying the sun and beaches. Thankfully, like you, my wife and I saved in our earning years as much as possible for the ability to spend retirement doing something, somewhere else. Unlike you, we both have siblings, grandkids and great grandkids back home, so we do miss the get togethers and parties, so there are some negatives for us. We try to make that time up from end of May to late September as well as Thanksgiving through Christmas back home. We have done facetime, etc, so we do see and talk to everyone. We both feel healthier in the winter here. No real colds, etc, and if you do get one it does not seem to hang on very long. No extra shirts, sweaters or blanket while watching tv in the late evening because it is cold......... Although the metropolitan areas are crowded, you are less than an hour away from old Florida and even wilderness areas. So many parks and natural habitat areas, you cannot visit all of them. My wife likes it because we eat out more down here than at home, as we treat it as an extended vacation rather than just living in retirement, plus you get to eat outside all winter if you want under an umbrella during the day or under the stars at night, and plenty of local entertainment all over in all sorts of restaurants and bars. There are festivals somewhere every weekend to go to, as well as so many beaches to visit. Their festival season is winter rather than the summer months. Our January through mid May stay seems like two months time it goes by so fast.

CG ……. I completely understand the boredom of retirement. After a couple of months I found some volunteer work to do.
My first 'job' was delivering for meals on wheels. In the area we lived in, I delivered once a week. I know you aren't into volunteering but maybe it's something you and your daughter can do together. Doesn't take a lot of time and will get you out of the house.
I have a friend who has physical problems and her outside trips are mostly to Dr and groceries. She volunteers with a phone crisis center in her area.
Can you find something you and your daughter can do together? Volunteering can be as much time as you wish, and maybe your daughter will find something she is interested in.
Good luck to both of you ………. keeping fingers crossed
I work part time, volunteer with meals once a month ……. and belong to three choirs. Get on computer about every other day when I have time at home. At times I meet myself at the door and wonder why I'm doing all of this. But during the summer months when things calm down a bit, I look forward to the busy fall schedule

I work full time, but I just started a new job and there's only so much training and "get your feet wet" sort of tasks to fill a day. I pop in a bunch on the Tapatalk app on my phone, too. so it isn't just keyboard time for me. I've also got a shitty commute that finds me inching in traffic for a good half hour a day - that's all spent on my phone. not much damage I can do in 1st gear at 5mph. anyway, once I'm home, I'm out and about with my dogs, or actively doing something else. so from ~330pm or so, until I go to bed and pick up my phone again to wind down, I'm not on here much.

Not that I ever was great at multi-tasking... Although I did manage to work full time get married twice and have/raise two kids. Now, it's all I can do to single task!

I play on the phone during my breaks and lunch. It helps me wind down a bit.
I also cannot clock in till exactly five minutes before my shift but I arrive 10-15 minutes before that because I want to give myself time in case of traffic/weather/accidents. So I dick around for a bit on here.

I generally browse while waiting for a report to run or on lunch like now.

I work full time, have a son in college and although I read the threads here quite a bit, I don't have time to post much. I like the political threads. But for the most part, if I post on those threads I won't have time to follow up if discussion ensues.

I post a lot while in the loo.
I’m pretty busy with my job but it doesn’t take a lot of time to read a couple topics I find interesting and type out a response if I feel like it. if I am particularly active on a given day it’s likely I’m at the airport waiting on a flight.

I'm a multitasking machine. I do several things at the same time most of the time.

I managed to play the retiree for a whole 14 months. I just flat couldn't stand it (too much of my father and grandfather in me, I guess) So I have gone back into the education field and am subbing as many days as they need me...15-17 days a month. It's been great, I feel great! Grandkids take up most of my remaining free time. I am an unrepentant political junkie so yes, I follow the news channels. ( shame on you Wyouser!) . And, I must admit that I am hopeless at multi-tasking...…..except for reading....I always have 5-7 books that I am reading...you know, one for mornings, afternoons, nighttime, or a few for whatever mood I find myself in during each day. But, what the heck, lefthanders are always considered a bit weird anyway!
