Viking Sky lost its engines off the coast of Norway and is evacuating 1300 passengers by helicopter. Apparently the weather is really ugly, and in one of the muster stations, th3 window broke and passengers are waiting to be evacuated in several inches of water.
So one of the passengers posts a clip of furniture skidding across the lounge while waiting to be evacuated. News stories are all over this, including wanting copyright of this video.
This woman is not even off the freaking boat yet!

Wow. That makes my 60mph winds and almost falling off the toilet look good.

this was posted to my town FB group, since this ship sails through the canal here. I shared it to my music cruise family, and a number of people have chimed in to say they have parents/friends/etc on this ship. how fucking scary, I can't even imagine.
a Norwegian music cruiser provided an update with info on her local news, apparently there are a handful of pretty serious injuries, and many passengers are afraid to board the airlift in the dark and winds.

From what I am reading, broken bones seems to be most of the injuries. 9 have been hospitalized, 138 evacuated.
Things have been complicated by a freighter nearby that had a staff of 9. They didn’t get evacuated in time and are now in the sea.
The clip above is from the Explorer Lounge. We spent a lot of time there. The cruise is Viking’s Northern Lights Cruise, that goes above the arctic circle. It’s on my short list....

The last I saw she was able to get one engine started again. Still a predicament, but at least they can stay away from shore and hopefully hit the waves on a better angle.
As bad as it is, at least so far it's currently still safer on the ship then take on the risk of evacuating by boat.

Even without power on all engines I would choose the ship if I had a choice. The option of helicopter evac is not cool in that kind of weather. Hunker down, hang on and pray would be my choice

I saw another video of water sloshing around people's feet. Scary!

I saw another video of water sloshing around people's feet. Scary! The mustering station was in a restaurant on the second level (this was where our station was). Apparently a window broke, and that is where the water came from. That restaurant has huge windows at table level. It it sounds like they were moved up to a higher level after this. I wonder if they moved them up to the restaurant on level 7.
