Thank you but won't effect us. I buy hardly any preprocessed foods of any kind. But it is a big worry for sure.

Well, apparently it doesn't matter. my cholesterol came back at 221, it was 220, before that 140 so its not helping me. Going to try and go more grains and more vegetables and fruits, more baked chicken and fish, not sure it will help. But I refuse to eat a lot of that crap as much as possible, but still to much regular foods and fried things to much I guess. To much old time cooking.

I can't say the same for most of the processed stuff. I'd be willing to take a chance on my cholesterol going up to have home cooked meals - that I didn't have to make. Or someone to eat them with, that would appreciate the fact that they were home cooked, as well as the time and effort to make them. Good luck with getting your levels where you'd like them! (seriously- good luck!)

I had grilled pork kabobs with wild rice and grilled cauliflower steaks last night for dinner. Later air popped corn, what we have anyway but with spray butter and some salt, it was flat, sigh, but we ate it. I also know that weight loss will help lower cholesterol and after reading my medical record the ideal weight is 140 haven't weighed that since college and pre kids. I was hoping for 160. But since I have lost from 5'9 1/2" to about 5'7 1/2" it sure changed my weight situation. I don't know if I can but am sure going to try. Hopefully will help the cholesterol too, in thinking about it the foods I was eating weren't good enough to reduce it. Sounds like very little eating out. I do not have high blood pressure, mine is low so less salt but not necessary in my case. As hubs said well we all are overweight anyway so it wont hurt any of us. But I went to bed hungry last night, sigh. I couldn't have been but felt like it. Had my usual steel cut oats for breakfast with ground flax seed for breakfast, with sugar this time and 2% milk. Guess I will go to artificial sweetener, have it in my coffee. After cardiologist appointment going to see if exercise is ok again.

I'd like to lose weight, but not bad enough to eat food I don't like, or feel like I'm starving. I think if I were involved with someone I'd care more. But then I'd be more active too, which is my biggest downfall. Due to high blood pressure, I have stopped adding additional salt to things. And I don't eat everything that sounds good to me like I used to. That's about it.
Looking good isn't worth being miserable to me. And I don't want to live to be 100. That seems miserable too.

Same here. I don't knowingly purchase anything owned by Tyson - hard to keep track sometimes but I do my best. Not only animal abuse but google "Tyson treatment of migrant workers". Their treatment of workers/humans was horrible. In fact it got so bad when it hit the news that they tried to market their stuff at WalMart under a different name for a while. Seth something. For a long time WM was the only stores (at least in my area) carrying their chicken products then they crept into mainstream grocery chains.
I also have a friend who worked for a food broker and kept up on all this stuff. An eye opener to the food industry!!

We have a huge food conglomerate here by the name of Saputo. When it came out that they were buying their raw diary products from farms which horribly abused their cows, everyone stopped buying Saputo products. You have to hit them in the pocketbook.
