I'm sick. I have a nasty cold/upper respiratory infection. I have been coughing nonstop since Saturday. I just sneezed 7 times in a row. I am miserable. I live by myself, so I don't have anyone to complain to, so I came here to share my misery.
Eight. I have sneezed 8 times in a row.
Thank you for listening.
Nine.

Go to a doctor, take some meds, get something like hot tea or hot something or take Thera flu or some such to make you feel better.
I do feel sorry for you, I was sick as a dog for a week or so not long ago.

I agree, go to the doctor and get some meds. I ignored mine for too long and ended up having to do multiple rounds with the doctor, and was sick almost the whole winter because of my procrastination.

I can commiserate. This is the second time within a month that I have had to take the z-pak. This time, they have added predinasone and something else for the cough. The cough is so horrible, it feels like my ribs are breaking. I have been sitting on my couch and working, but hate it since it's been lovely outside.
I stocked up on miso-ginger broth, camomile tea, soup and more tissues today. Think it's going to be a long recovery. How I wish I had not ignored the flu shot this year. The year I have not gotten it is always when I get sick.
Get yourself to the doctor - load up on vitamin c, thin brothy liquids and hot tea with lemon and honey. Hope you feel better soon.

I hope everyone feels better soon.
I'm on day 4/12 of prednisone and 4/14 of the antibiotic. Stupid sinus infection getting the better of me.

I live alone so I know how it can feel. So far this winter, I have only had the sniffles, but it's never materialized in to anything more.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and good advice.
I took some cough medicine, my dog buddy's person brought me some soup (chicken noodle), and I made some tea (Earl Grey, hot). I'm feeling somewhat less dire. The sneezing seems to have abated as well, so that's good.
Sorry to hear I'm not alone in having the crud. I hope everyone is feeing better soon.

UGH. I have had the same thing for the past week, although I haven't sneezed much. I did go to the doctor last Friday. She gave me something to help with my cough when it gets too bad. When I cough it feels like someone hits me in the back of my head - hard. I did get a flu shot. I hope you are feeling better. If not, I hope you feel better soon!

Feeling a tad better today. Hoping the nasal congestion clears soon so I can taste my food again. I was sad this morning when I could not taste my peanut butter toast. I like peanut butter toast. Can't take decongestants as they wreak havoc with my blood pressure.
Hoping good health soon returns to all currently in the grip of the crud.

I am also feeling better today, although the meds have cleared my nose so much that I smell every little thing in the office and it's making me nauseous The day is overcast, but I have a window seat and it feels good to not be working from my couch.

dannylion how are you feeling now? I hope you're all better by now. I was sick for about 10 days recently. Started feeling better, and not even 2 weeks later, I was at work freezing cold but had sweat running down my back, feeling like crap again. I swear!

Sorry to hear you are ill as well. I'm still recuperating, unfortunately more slowly than I would like. I was feeing better on Thursday and thought I had turned the corner. Woke up Friday morning with sinus pain and an earache. Somewhat better today, but now I've lost my voice. I think whatever is going around now is just some really weird clown virus. Other friends are suffering from the same symptoms, so it seems like it's just how it runs its course. I hope you are feeling better soon! I have been coping with soup and tea and crackers. I really like having tea and saltine crackers as a snack, so at least I have an excuse to indulge a little more while I'm ill as it is suitable for a feeble appetite.

Yes, whatever it is, it seems to linger longer than I remember colds/flu/whatever lasting. I was surprised at how long it took for me to start feeling better the first time. My Aunt and Uncle were sick for almost a month. They'd start feeling better, then start feeling bad again. "Weird clown virus" sounds like a good name to me! Take care.

I started getting worse again over the weekend even though I'm not done with all my medicine. I called the doctor's office back. Basically the lab they sent the culture to has dropped the ball and they've been begging for final sensitivity results for over a week. Stupid lab!
She's got enough information though to make a guess on what should kill the infection. Today starts 21 days of a new antibiotic. And if that doesn't quiet the hacking up my lungs in a few days, I'll get another round of steroids.
I'm over being sick. I don't even know how I functioned being sick like this 6 times last year.

How's everyone doing today? Are the new meds working, wvugurl26? Whatever it is that's going around here seems to linger long after it really should have been finished and gone, and when it seems to be improving, all of a sudden it gets worse again. I'm still coughing, though somewhat less paroxysmally than before. Sinus congestion continues. Voice still weird and squeaky. My friends who have had the same sort of crud are also finding recovery elusive. Hoping all are well and thriving again very soon.

I seem to be coughing less. Still feeling pretty rough. I've been slugging through and trying to sleep as much as possible. Still waiting to hear about the culture sensitivity.
The rebound is very real. It crept up on me as my steroid course tapered off.
Thanks for asking! I hope everyone else gets better soon. I had six separate sinus infections last year and I don't remember any single one being this bad for this long.

I am feeling better again. I hope it's for good this time.
I'm not happy that others are having similar issues as I have, with this crap lingering for so long, improving, and getting bad again, but it's a bit of a relief to know I'm not a complete oddball and the only person that had that experience.
I've missed quite a bit of work dealing with this. There were days I probably could have worked if I had a desk job, but since my job is physically demanding even on a good day, I would have been beyond useless a lot of the days that I've been sick.
Spring is almost here and as much as I am anticipating its arrival, I'm not looking forward to how spring wreaks havoc on my stupid allergies. Because of my allergies, I have more sinus issues and get sinus infections more often than the average person. Yay me.

In September, my ENT did a balloon procedure to widen my sinus passages. It helped me a lot. I was good from September to February when my allergies got way messed up from second hand cigarette smoke on the cruise I took.

I hope the reduction in coughing means you're on the mend, wvugurl26. I had a doctor's appointment for something unrelated on Tuesday. My cough was much better, but she listened to my lungs and said they are still wheezy. She said there is definitely something virulent going around this season. My dog friend stopped by for a visit yesterday, which cheered me up immensely. She's a hoot. Feeling almost human today. Hoping everyone else is feeling better.
