Is that today? We just had one last year 😐 You could tell your wife that your gift to her was not calling her yesterday morning when you were stuck.

$5 - had to buy Valentine's for DD1's pre-K class, so bought a box for DD2 to play with for fun.

oh yeah, DD made chocolate covered strawberries for her class, but it's stuff we had at home anyway, so I don't think that counts. if so, I spent probably $2 on the strawberries. They were BOGO.

We have a gas fireplace, so there is likely no more than 25-30 feet from there to the stove. Not sure how the gas line runs, so it might be closer, but that’s the max. I will be kind of stuck as to styles of stoves that fit the space though. We have quartz counters and any stove needs to fit in that space. Of the kitchen appliances, only the dishwasher has been replaced as it croaked. The rest are 20+ years old and are reaching the end of their life. I suspect when the stove or fridge goes, we will overhaul all. Darn, you mean I can expect my kitchen appliances to last 20+years? Of the ones installed when we moved in c. 2005, the microwave has been replaced several times, and the dishwasher is questionable. I think my side by side refrigerator has a few years of life left, but I absolutely hate it...so I was thinking maybe this year I would buy a new one. I probably won't though, b/c I should probably replace them all at the same time, and then you get into maybe replace the counter tops while you are at it and that leads to the question of other possible changes? ...
I made the mistake of buying a valentines day card for DH at Walgreens and not checking the price until after I read here that they were like $8.99. I pulled out my receipt and sure enough- $7.99. (DH always complains about the price of cards, so he will not appreciate it - he would rather I save my $$). I also bought Ferrero Rocher Candy. DH and DD like it. I was going to buy two 3.5 oz ones, but they were $7.99 each and one 7 oz one was $12.99, so I just bought one. DD won't be home until tomorrow anyways.
DH will probably buy me flowers, I would mind if they cost as much as they did when we were first married, but now every grocery store and even Menards has them for a decent price. We go out occasionally, last year we went to Capital Grill, It is a lot of money to eat there - I would rather eat anything at home. My DH likes to go places like that and seems to see value in it. I kind of would like to get DH something else, but we also buy everything we want, when we want it.

Dh spent a bunch. Handful of little things for the kids and a book for each of them. A book for me, big thing of chocolate for everyone and cards for all of us. I really don't want to add up everything he spent honestly.
I bought nothing for dh. Made homemade cards for the kids. I ended up overspending on their valentines class treats because our first crafting idea failed and we had to go store bought 2 days prior. But the crafting stuff will still be used, so just Valentines I spent about $8.
I'm trying to decide how to broach returning the book dh bought for me too. It's one of the Harry Potter books, but not a novel. I'm not going to read it. Ds needs to read the actual HP books before he gets into any of the other stuff, and the thing must have cost at least $25 if not more. We need less stuff not more dang it. Or do I just return it and see if he notices. Lol.

The appliances in this house were purchased in 1994. We replaced the dishwasher about 3 years ago. The stove, microwave and fridge are still going strong. I think that the fridge will go first though, as the plastic is cracking off all over and the seal is shot. I also think that the temp controls are off, but too cold. I just want the stove gone - every single burner on my electric stove tilts and there is not a damn thing I can do to correct it. However, the washer I bought in 2007 I wound up replacing in 2011. The dryer I also bought in 2007 is going strong though and the washer is still working. If we do the appliances, I want to replace the cabinet doors. Cabinets are in good shape, and are solid maple. They were made by a local company and we contacted them a couple times last year about replacing the doors but got no answer.

$4 card for hubby and $5 chocolate dipped strawberries for a coworker that has helped me out a lot this year.I would like to do something like this. I might pick up something for my parents and take it to them after work. Maybe next year I'll be proactive enough that I could send something to my out of state coworkers.

It's cute, but not something I'm going to actually sit down and read.

Is that today? We just had one last year 😐 You could tell your wife that your gift to her was not calling her yesterday morning when you were stuck. Great idea, and her gift to me was staying home throwing up yesterday and not sharing it with me 🙂. Although she did bake me my very own heart shaped chocolate cheesecake, which I somewhat concerned about eating given her relative health when making it....

$5. Two large Ghirardelli dark chocolate bars for DH. They were 2 for $5.
He got me some Sweet Tart candy hears, a Baby Ruth bar, 6 roses and a very mushy card that I just love.
Plus we went out to lunch, $47, instead of dinner.
That's it.

$15 on a card and chocolates. ISO spent about $105 for a gift card to Red Lobster and a card. We don't like the crowds on VD so part of the gift is going out on Saturday for dinner.

I bought $10 worth of chocolate covered strawberries. We all really like those. So, once a year, we eat them.

We spend about 20-30 on each of us, and then a box of cards for YDD to take to class. YDD was way more into shopping for everyone then DH and I were. She wanted to hand everything out to everyone too.
We don't buy cards. I can't stand the price on them either.

We were supposed to go out to eat, but will postpone it. Not on Valentine's Day, thank you very much! I did get a lovely amber necklace.

I spent $10 on 1/2 a dozen chocolate covered strawberries for H. A local nonprofit that helps underprivileged children in our county was selling them as a fundraiser. And $3 on a card.

My bf and I dont celebrate Valentines day, so nothing officially for him. Although I have a New Years resolution of trying to spoil him like he does me, so I have $60 of random gifts for him coming. I bought myself the 2 dozen roses from While Foods for $20, and they turned out to be yellow. Yellow roses are what my mom loves, so I dropped them off as a surprise this morning. She was so happy she texted both my dad and I as soon as she got home. That made my day

Between us about $220. Our first Valentine's Day together so $100 for me on dinner at her favorite restaurant last night, and she bought a less expensive dinner today and tickets to an upcoming performance at Jazz Alley.

I think about $4 on a card so far. When I was shopping for cards I pulled out one I thought was kind of cute, flipped it over and saw it was $8.99! When did that sort of craziness happen?? That's nonsense! Anyway, I may get him something else sort of belated. I've been swamped at work and feeling like complete shit this week so I'm behind the curve on everything. I don't know how much he spent. We often don't celebrate valentine's but we always ask each other if we want a gift and this year I said yes!
So it turns out my honey got me a girl for Valentine's day! He secretly called a friend last week and told her that he would fly her out (from the opposite coast) for a visit and a spa day. And he gave me a hefty gift card to the spa. He's a pretty good egg, I think I'll keep him! I guess I should have sprung for the $8.99 card after all.

We got each other cards and he cooked a great steak and potato (Thursday night is his night to cook). We don't go out on Valentine's because it's overcrowded and overpriced. We're going to a wine dinner Monday night which will more than make up for Valentine's.

What a bunch of cheapskates here. I saw on the internet that average spend is like $300. Of course that survey might have been fake news from the Valentine marketing association.
I spent $4 on a card, but wished I had planned better and gone to the dollar store for the card.

We got our daughter and grand-baby Valentines. We went out to a nice restaurant for a very fancy ( as it turned out ) lunch. We both got the good steaks, so a total of $ 70 I guess.
