Well, it looks like we're at the height of Flu Season: www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/usmap.htmHow are people doing where you are? Right now I don't know anyone's who's sick. The office seems to be pretty cough/sneeze free. And there's no "Zombies" - the people who are a pasty grey color (regardless of natural skin tone) who came to work even though they are sick. I'm hoping the flu shot I received is doing something - I have lots of really old people and babies and women trying to get pregnant in my "weekly" circle of friends/relatives/coworkers. I have been to 3 wakes (for really old people just outside my normal "circle" ) since January 1st. Not sure if any were flu related or if it's just that weird thing where January/February/March are difficult months for really old people. Be safe out there (wash your hands! Stay home if you are sick! Pay attention when someone in your 'circle' of people feels under the weather and help them out!)

This may be the peak season but December was really bad here in Atlanta. We all had our flu shots and no-one got sick but so many children were out in my girls' school. At one point, 9 kids were out in one class of ~20. So relieved we escaped. I put it down to not being obsessed about germs. I wash my hands after going to the restroom and if they are dirty... I touch hand rails and happily wear shoes around the house .

I caught a cold a few days after I flew back from our vacation, but since then we have been illness free. I’ve gotten yearly flu shots since around 1995, and despite working in a hotbed of illness medical center managed to avoid the flu.

Late November early December some kind of bug worked it's way through the house but we've been bug free since then. One of the girls claims to get the flu every couple of weeks but I'm pretty sure it's the 26 oz kind.

The sign regarding visitors isn't up on dad's door so I don't think it's overwhelming here.
That said, the friend in Alabama who lost his BIL said flu was a contributing factor. The BIL died at home.
I lost a friend last winter due to complications from the flu. He was in the hospital when he died.

It is currently going around bad in San Antonio. The 2nd grade class next door to me had 10 kids out with flu like symptoms. I had 2 kids out. Teachers and students are dropping like flies right now.

DH and I had it a few weeks ago. I had it worse. Both of us still have lingering cough and congestion. Neither of us get flu shots, but I am definitely going that route going forward.

I haven't heard of anyone in our area having the flu. There was a nasty cold that went around the office end of Dec, beg of January. Right now all we are hearing about is the Measles. I kind of forgot it was flu season.

Everyone in my family has a slow moving cold. I was afraid it was the flu, because it started with throat and achy, but I didn't get a fever. I did get my flu shot, so I don't know if that changed anything. I guess I will just spend the next week blowing my nose and coughing. Blech.

I don't know what it is. The guy at the meeting Friday said it was a cold. But I'm coughing, my chest feels heavy, no fever, just tired and
not feeling 100%. I figure its a virus of some type, I hope I can beat it. DD has some sores on her lips? she gets them, cold sores, I guess.

The last couple years were really bad around this time, especially last year. So far, it’s been very quiet around here. More strep throat than anything else.
I’ve gotten pretty lucky the last couple years. Last year I didn’t even get the sniffles. This year, only a sore throat For a couple days and that was it. In most years I get the sore throat that leads into a bad cold, runny nose, then congestion.

It was going around at work when I came back from vacation in late January.
Now flu season seems to be over. I never take the flu shot, sometimes I get the flu and sometimes I don't. I haven't had it for the last couple of years.

I don't know anyone who has it, but DH works at the hospital and they're starting to fill up with flu victims.

X had a particular nasty case of flu just before Christmas and missed nearly a week of work - sky high fever, productive coughing, etc. I had to take DS a couple of days early because X was quarantined at home. Luckily DS managed to stay healthy. I haven't had the flu, and I do not get flu shots.

I don't think its the flu, headache, cough, feels tingly back of my throat up into my nose. Chest kind of heavy, no fever, but not feeling good. Have a docs appointment tomorrow anyway so will tell her. Doubt if they do anything. Nose is not starting to run a bit.

My daughter had Guillain-Barre, the paralysis that the flu shot can potentially trigger as a super-rare side effect. Hers was not vaccine related. She cannot get a flu shot for the rest of her life as a result. She is reliant on the rest of us to get flu shots to protect her.
Please get your fucking flu shot.

Have a docs appointment tomorrow anyway so will tell her. Doubt if they do anything. Nose is not starting to run a bit. Not all flu suffers have a fever. You've got alot of the symptoms of the flu. The Dr. will be able to tell you for sure. I've had the flu (undiagnosed - but strongly suspected - comes on fast, in bed for 2 or 3 days with a fever and then a couple of weeks of feeling exhausted) quite a few times over my lifetime. I never get any of the "lung congestion" - if I'm coughing it's because my sinuses are draining down the back of my throat or because I've got a sore throat with that pesky tickle at the back of my throat. I never cough up anything if I'm coughing. I do get ferociously high fevers though. I'm surprised my innards haven't been cooked. I think everyone responds to the flu virus a bit differently and gets the appropriate for them response from their body -- my BFF usually winds up in the hospital with pneumonia whenever she has the misfortune to succumb to the flu virus. She is one of the reasons I get a flu shot every year. I suspect pneumonia will probably be what kills her - and I DON"T want to be the person who paved the path to it.

I looked at that map. Looks like I need to go hide in West Virginia with my grandma. I can't get the flu shot due to my allergies. I've struck out finding the egg free one. My allergy doctor's office has been trying to get it and can't.
I don't want the flu but I don't want anaphylaxis either.
DH gets guilt tripped into getting one every year because of me.

If I don't have the flu, I have its close cousin. One of the guys I work with was out with some kind of respiratory illness, came back for 1 day and was out again. A few days later, I woke up feeling like I'd been run over by a truck.
Whether its true or not, I'm going to blame him for me being sick when I see him at work again.
No one else in my family has been sick except my BF's oldest daughter. She was diagnosed with the flu a couple days before Christmas.

I took Thera Flu last night. I was sick and am sick. My chest is heavy. I checked and oxygen concentration is 97% but when I first checked my heart rate was 78bpm. It feels like a weight on it. Have an appointment at 1:30 or I would be going to the Minor ER place. If she doesn't help will go there anyway. I don't like it when my chest gets like that. Headache, at least I was able to sleep.
I found my inhaler and used it, that helped open the airways, made me feel better. Only time I need it is when I get sick like this. I am drinking hot tea, then going back to bed. Appointment is at 1:30. Hubs fixed DD breakfast, she has 2 sores on her lip so he got Abreva for her yesterday, that helps. She gets those, poor thing, one is in the corner of her mouth.

It's our societal duty for healthy people who can be vaccinated actually be fucking vaccinated. The flu has been going around here, but I don't think horrendously so? All I know is it's mid-February and I haven't had so much as a cold yet this winter, so I'm going to continue living in my bubble and knock on some wood.

They advise you to see a doctor if you're still sick after 3 days, because apparently it can lead to pneumonia or bronchitis. Today is day 6 for me. I can't remember the last time I've felt as bad as I've felt since last Friday. Probably not since the time I actually did have the flu, years ago. Ugh! I have no clue how people manage to be out and about, spreading their germs with this crap. I have to rest and recover from just taking a shower and changing my pj's.

I don't know. I didn't ask, and I am not privy to that part of their school files.

I went to doc today, I really felt bad today and now the runny nose and sneezing has started, I hate that guy that gave this to me, stupid man. Doc gave me a steroid shot to help me breathe and sulfa drugs for the crud. I'm allergic to so much stuff but that I can take. I managed to get dinner, have to clean up in there. But going to shower first and get warmer. Not doing much tonight, can't for having a Kleenex under my nose and my eyes tearing. Had to wait at docs office, had to wait at pharmacy while they redid my meds in pill pack. They put a bunch in I only take as needed and some the doc said to stop, so when they were done, almost $100 less. I stopped to get flowers for DD for Valentines Day, since no one gets her any we do. Makes her so happy she has them in her room. I picked up a dozen roses at Walmart for me in a vase while there. When I got home, hubs said I was going to get you some today and was hauling the trailer so was going to tomorrow. But since you have, I won't, LOL! I know he would but its ok, I was there so why not. They had about the best price around. DD's are fresh and beautiful. Ok, off to shower, straighten my kitchen, doesn't require much, and just watch TV tonight then bed. I'm down bad this evening. It may not be the flu, but its miserable. Doc said I hadn't had antibiotics since last October, so that was good. I sicky, sigh.
