First, thank you for everyone's support during my son's illness. Damn, it was a stressful year... The CA DMV reinstated my son's driving privileges yesterday with no restrictions. He is considered to be "cured" by the neurologist and they vouched for him safely driving. His car is broken and in my driveway. Working on getting that up and running then he will come to get it. Once that happens, he will be 100% independent again. Yay. His plan is to stay in the college town, move into a shared space, find a different job, and then go back to school to be a teacher. In about 2.5-3 years that could be a reality and I really hope he does the work to make it happen. My other son asked to move back home yesterday. I suggested again he find an apt in the town where he works. Not sure how that will go but I don't want him to come back and live here. I enjoy the solitude and it makes it a lot easier for me to function and work. I"m going to be 50 this year and feel like it... I spent most of yesterday putting in a new pump on my water plant's pressure tank that a recent power outage killed. I'm all sore and tired today. lol

Great news about your younger (?) son!
I hope your other son is able to keep up with adulthood. Moving back home isn't necessarily the answer.

Awesome update for your younger son. He has really overcome a lot.
Based on your previous experience having your older son at home, I am glad you are prioritizing your well being and didn't give him permission to move back in.

It's time to take care of you when it comes to older son.

That is great news! Your DS2 has suffered so much, I really hope things turn around for him soon.
I get your not wanting your DS1 to move in. Sometimes I think the only way to prevent that is to move into a smaller place. Other days I'm grateful we can help when we need to.
Best to you, as always.
