Those of you already customers probably heard about this already, but Ting is offering to waive the extra line fee of $6/month forever on an additional line to your plan. It's good for new or existing customers, so you can sign up and get two lines for the price of one or if you have several already add another one on top. I'm totally jumping on this for Carrot. He first turns 9 this Summer and I had zero plans of getting him a phone until middle school, but I can just activate an old flip phone now, use it for our "house phone" if he's ever alone, and then when he's older he will have a no-fee line.

Thanks, MPL, I may do the same thing as I have a similar situation. Too bad it's only for one line!

I figure for free why not? Even if several years from now we go another route, I'm not out anything. It's getting to the point where it would be good to have a line in the house for him anyhow.
