Kellyanne Conway wants you to stop calling Trump’s wall a wall
Hours after Trump tweeted “BUILD A WALL,” Conway says, “I’m asking why you and the polling questions, respectfully, are still saying ‘wall.’” After more than a month, the government is still partially shut down. Now the meaning and usage of the word “wall” is apparently up for debate. In a confusing discussion with CNN reporter Abby Phillip, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway asked why Phillip and recent CBS polls on the ongoing government shutdown kept referring to a “wall” rather than “steel slat barriers.” After nearly four years of demanding a border wall even at the cost of an unpopular government shutdown, the Trump administration now appears to wish to avoid the word “wall” at all costs. “I’m asking why you and the polling questions, respectfully, are still saying ‘wall’ when the president said you can call it whatever you want,” Conway said. When Phillip responded that President Trump had referred to the wall on Twitter Wednesday morning — tweeting, “BUILD A WALL & CRIME WILL FALL” — Conway reiterated her statement: “The president has said many times... publicly call it what you want to call it but let’s secure our border.” link I think they are trying to throw a ton of confusion into this, calling it different things and changing the story. Then they can spin and justify any outcome as a victory.

Then they can spin and justify any outcome as a victory. What would be nice, would be both sides dispensing with their attempts at political victory, and try to come to an agreement about the illegal crossings and how to prevent it in a financially responsible manner. A system for tracking the scofflaws that stay after their temporary visas run out, shouldn't be that big of a problem these days, with our level of available technology. I was just reading about employers that require chip implants.

... to come to an agreement about the illegal crossings and how to prevent it in a financially responsible manner. ... I think starting with a change in goal would be helpful, i.e. "... minimize it ...".

in order to be effective, gun turrets would have to be at 100 yard intervals. you do the math.

Just shoot them. No wall necessary then. Don’t come in illegally, don’t get shot at. just to be clear, are you advocating shooting refugees?

As Trump makes border wall pitch, other countries say theirs work“Since we built a fence, and since the police and army have been there, we basically have no illegal migrants on the territory of the country,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told Fox News in an interview last week. “There are constant attempts to break through, but the infrastructure itself, namely the fence, and police and the army, make it impossible to get in.” "So that's a success," he said. ( emphasis added) Please note the line of sight manned towers. The border between Hungary and Serbia is 175 kilometres (109 mi) long. ... the 348 kilometres (216 mi) border with Croatia ... link Excellent. They don’t want their country turned into a toilet I’m sure other countries regret letting turds in. Smart leaders protect their country and its citizens. Bad leaders don’t. calling the leader of Hungary a "smart leader" is like calling Jeff Dahmer a "smart eater".

For me, the fact that no math is being done on this is what drives me the craziest. There is no final design so no way to calculate a cost of construction. Land has to be purchased at what cost? President Trump is asking for $5.7B for "the wall" but that is a number with no relationship to any final (I don't know what word to put here).

just to be clear, are you advocating shooting refugees? She's always made that perfectly clear. People who were born on other patches of land are inferior. And because we just happened to have been born on this patch of land, we are entitled. It is an easy concept to grasp. Once you realize that is truly how many people feel, you can understand why no argument will work.

for a single wall, including all of the easements, it would be about $25B.
in order to prevent ladder crossings, you would need a double wall, which would cost twice as much, obviously, or turrets every 100 yards. I think that a conservative estimate would be that it would cost an extra million$/mile for the turrets (17/mile) = $2B + 100,000 people to man the turrets = $4B/year from now until the end of time to man them.
total cost for Trump = $27B to initiate, and $16B/term to run, excluding maintenance = $40B+
or a one time cost of $50B + maintenance
edit: this is best guess stuff, because as you pointed out, the parameters keep changing.

just to be clear, are you advocating shooting refugees? They aren’t refugees they are illegal invaders. refugees and asylum seekers are actually legal invaders.
so, those who are here LEGALLY seeking asylum- do you advocate shooting them?

They aren’t seeking asylum, they’re seeking a free ride. They had offers of employment in Mexico. Nope. Free ride was the goal. I don’t believe Mexico is supporting the illegal invaders on their way here but enemies of this country.

I actually HAVE done that, zib. we had a Syrian family that we offered to take in. we ended up financing their stay here until they got their feet on the ground. they are now living in Oakland, in the company of many other refugees. that is WHY i feel so strongly about this issue.
now, having said that, i will also add that the planet does not belong to you, zib. nor does it belong to the US. it belongs to all creatures, great and small. it is only a matter of time before we will all have to come to grips with that fact.
either that, or we shall all perish.

We’re going to perish anyway. Unfortunately by the time the enemies of this country wake up, it’ll be too late to fix it.

unless you think we should just shoot them before we find out.
do you?

because i don't expect our enemies to fix anything.
and i am talking about the extinction of mankind, not our individuals deaths, which are, indeed, certain as sunrise.

The goal is to flood those asylum courts so the invaders are released or cared for until they’re released. So if we say NO to entry, they just come in anyway.

They’re more dangerous than any foreign enemy because they have fooled people who should know better into continuing to follow and vote for them.
