-19 here. 11 degrees warmer than 4 hours ago. The end is in sight! Now they're saying almost 50 on Sunday which is just as insane for this time of the year as -35. The weather is freaking me out.

We're only forecast for 41 on Sunday. That's not outrageous for us, but we're supposed to get rain all weekend into Monday. That's going to be a huge mess. It will be a lot of fun when that refreezes, too.

I don't like these wild swings. Just keep January the way it's supposed to be...in the 20's all month! The 80 degree swings in a few days are so much more difficult to deal with.

I'm pretty accustomed to 40-50 degree swings, but 80 is absolutely nuts.

Thirty-eight degrees. By 3 p.m., fifty degrees. And only gets warmer each day through next Tuesday and then back to normal.
Clear skies. I was just sitting outside in a sweatshirt and gym shorts, facing south. Felt great.

Good idea Tenn. Think I'll get into shorts and have a on the patio. Sunny and 21*. Up from 10* ETA, no mosquitoes.

It didn't get nearly as cold here as it did there of course, but it's forecast to be 70 degrees on Monday. In the mid to upper 60's the days before and after. That's not normal for this time of year, even for us.

Yeah we are supposed to be at -3 by 3 pm. That is not out of the ordinary for Jan around here. But, on the weekend we are supposed to have 21 Fri, 40, 43, 45 Sat, Sun, Mon then back down to 25 on Tuesday.

I'm sure when the utilities companies ask to turn down the temps, it's an emergency situation where some might end up without heat/not enough pressure or supply to keep things going, so it seems like you just need to comply. The person who ends up without any could be you! Hopefully these situations will have the utilities reworking their systems/backups so this isn't an issue next time. Another thing I will be looking into this summer is buttoning up the house. I have paper towels tucked all around the door frames, one window in kitchen. I can do a more permanent job there. I have some single pane windows without storms I will have some storms made up for. Maybe whole house insullation? But seems the doors/windows would be the bigger bang for the buck. My walls are lathe and plaster, that seems pretty solid and not sure what kind of upgrade might work there. Forecast extended our hitting 0 to 7 pm tonight, so less than 10.5 hours to go. You know what works even better? Play Doh. I bought some at Dollarama and it works like a charm. It really gets into all the nooks and crannies. You can even make it yourself if you want it white.

Of course winter temps of 70 degrees here with rain in the forecast also means severe thunderstorms and maybe a tornado or two are possible as we now enter our spring severe weather season.

Got home to see deer in my field and bunnies where I put the corn out. So nice to see that they pulled through. I'm sure all didn't make it, but I know at least these did.

Up to -3, -23 wind chill and snowing. Supposed to stop snowing later this evening.
Water still running in kitchen faucet. Lucy Cat is loving it. She has her own drinking fountain.

Chicago area experiencing frost quakes. Never heard of that before. What is a frost quake? “When water freezes it expands and this expansion creates stress on the ground or rocks,” he explained. “Eventually the stress is released explosively.” Farnell said the noise can be heard from kilometres away and even feel like an earthquake. globalnews.ca/news/4910621/frost-quakes-extreme-cold/
