I'm finding a new development when I travel- so far have been in two hotels with "smart TVs" that let me log into my Netflix account (I'm always careful to log out when done) and an Airbnb place in Scotland that had a TV, as advertised, but no programming unless you had an account with Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I was very happy with the hotels- it was an additional option beyond the regular programming. I was a bit disgruntled at the Airbnb place. So now when they say they have a TV I guess you have to ask if it has any programming! I love hotels that let you log on and stream your own accounts. This is news to me. I’ll have to look for that.

This article is typical of what I've read/heard in financial news over the last year or so. As the title implies, Netflix has invested tons of money it doesn't have on developing original content and is in debt up to its eyeballs. Supposedly it will pay off because they're building a "moat"- a recent piece of jargon meaning a business that would be almost impossible for a would-be competitor to duplicate. They have $3 billion "negative free cash flow". www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/netflix-is-burning-through-cash-and-it-cant-last-forever/ar-BBSqvTT?li=BBnbfcNSo- the increases had to come sometime.

I switch around from Netflix to Hulu (without commercials) to Amazon Prime and sometimes even Britbox or something like that. I don't like to pay for more than 1 service at a time but sometimes my husband talks me into 2 at a time. When we have Netflix, it's the cheapest plan. $1/mo. extra isn't enough to make a difference in how we use it. We also have an indoor antenna but I haven't been watching live TV at all recently.
Right now we have a free month of Netflix, 3 free months of Amazon Prime, and a soon-to-end free month of Hulu. We also have a free trial of Showtime that we'll start soon. There is so much good content out there but it is a little overwhelming. When all these free trials end, I hope to go back to just one streaming provider at a time. I am really surprised to have so many free months offered to us lately!

We'll keep the standard plan ~ my wonderful DH appreciates being able to use/watch Netflix when he's out of the country. And I always find things to watch on there ... I'm completely addicted to Wentworth and West Wing.

No, I will not Netflix over the $2 a month increase. What would make me cancel is if they started having Ads. This. Every once in a while I will reactivate my Hulu subscription, and I always pay extra to not have ads. Yup- I hate ads with a passion and will do anything I can to avoid having to watch them. When we travel we rarely turn on the hotel room tv because of the ads.
I'm happy to pay a couple of dollars more a month to avoid ads.

I won't cancel yet. I actually just started streaming a couple months ago after I finally finished off the DVDs I had on their dvd by mail plan. I've enjoyed several of their TV shows (Daredevil, Stranger Things) but I have not been impressed with any of their movies. And it seems like they're turning into HBO where they used to show other people's movies but now just seem to concentrate on the crap they make themselves

I’m almost through the entire criminal minds. I haven’t really looked at anything else on there in over a month except I did watch a few of their Christmas movies...

I do like Netflix and Amazon Prime for the BBC shows. I stream them all the time, although I wish one of them had Upstairs Downstairs. I want to watch that show, but not enough to pay for it.

OMG.... I must stopped on Netflix and that new annoying thing where the preview plays automatically happened for the new season of Arrested Development, so I just let it play and at the very end of the preview Buster asks his attorney, did you know about this? and the attorney says no, my dad made us give up netflix when they went up by 2$... lmao
