I found a file organizer on Amazon that I think will help with taming paper. It will also force me to clean off that counter surface to make it fit. It's arriving today. I'm very excited for it to get here.
I mailed off the last return this morning so that's out of the way.
Both recycle bins will be full tonight when they go out.

Got one load of laundry done yesterday--it was all the undies so it HAD to be done!! lol Another one is in the dryer now--all my active wear. I've taken to getting in an hour of walking each evening so that makes it necessary that this was the next load. Took the kitties to the vet. They're good. One lost some weight but we're monitoring it. I think some of it can be attributed to grief from losing her "sister" a few months ago but the rest is probably some sort of digestive ailment so meds it is. I did pack up a couple more boxes of stuff yesterday. I kept going into my main living area and asking myself "What can I do in here to make it more clean? What one item can I put away or discard?" That really helped.

So it's time for a new list. I'm going to give my self until Christmas for this one.
1. Install closet organizer 2. Paint den (these 2 are left over from the last list) 3. Install new backsplash in kitchen. 4. Refinish my fridge with stainless steel contact paper. 5. Paint kitchen. (Not as big a job as it sounds, I have a small kitchen without much bare wall space) 6. Paint living room, entrance and hallway) 7. Paint my bedroom.
6 & 7 are the big jobs on this list.

I need to confirm with the realtor on Friday if we have open house on Saturday and Sunday or just Sunday. I would love to have 2 days to prep as I felt like crap most of today.
My neighbor just put up a fence in our shared front yard and I’m kinda annoyed. He had workers out there making a ton of noise and traipsing all over my yard this week and never mentioned or asked me about it. Ugh. I can’t wait to move out to the country without neighbors and have some space!
Friday I need to figure out how to hang my first quilt in the master bedroom which I figure is the safest place for it at the moment. Quilt number two will be bound in 3 weeks and quilt #3 won’t be a blanket but will be done relatively soon.

DH has been out of town working. It's amazing how much I accomplish at the house without him around, LOL. This week: Finally sent in a health test I've put off for months Repotted 5 plants at the house Filled the hummingbird feeders and ice trays Watered outside Harvested cherry tomatoes Made deer chili and dropped some off for a friend in the nursing home Truck washed
Dropped off the clothing donation I mentioned a few weeks ago Dropped off 3 boxes of donuts at local fire stations and the folks upstairs here in the building Dropped off a stack of business cards to a car dealership working friend per her request Planned a trip to NYC Read 3 newspapers Did a load of laundry Emptied and refilled the dishwasher, kept up on hand washing dishes Washed the cast iron skillet Processed eggs and produce ETA: Oh, yes, and I tossed a few HBAs. One expired back in 2013.

Hi friends! We just got back a couple of hours ago. I have unpacked (DH has not) and I'm doing laundry. We did a LOT of moving around/driving, but we had a fabulous time. It's good to be home! No plans for this weekend except for paperwork and putting things away. I go back Monday but only 2 days this week. You've all accomplished a lot! (I read but was not logged in so couldn't comment.)

Welcome back debthaven I missed you. Think we were on FB once at the same time. Want to hear about your trip when you have time. I'm home and exhausted from a 3 day trip. Had lots of fun. I am presently being loved to the nth degree by Lucy. She's been in my lap and purring non-stop since I walked in the door. Think I'm going to indulge her today. She loves me. It was nice to come home to a clean house. Tomorrow, I will get the pictures that I put away while they dust back out. Today is Lucy's day.

Another open house today so I am cleaning and tidying right up until I need to leave. I did iron a table cloth for the dining room and cleaned all the mirrors but there’s always more on my list. I won’t have time to wash the windows or really scrub the bathtub so that may happen before the open house tomorrow.
. I’ve got to get some client work finished so I can bill them this month and that’s probably 3-4 hrs of additional time.
I told a friend I’d help her pack this afternoon as she is also moving and her lease is up next week.
Feels like I’ve done nothing but keep my house clean and work this last month (life is rather boring at the moment).
I may take quilt project #3 along with me today as it only needs a few more hours to get to complete.

Glad you enjoyed the concert Theo! Have a great trip Pluggin! Good idea about the travel thread, I'll try to do that this weekend. I put away the laundry, I'll sort the papers tomorrow. We also need to book a weekend trip to England in late Sept to take DS3 back to college. We'll stay with DH's family so it won't cost much. Can't believe it's his last year.
DH wasn't thrilled but I updated his accounting, so that's done.

Welcome back debthaven ! We'll give you the opportunity to rest up before we bombard you with questions on your trip. Hope it all went well! My week has mostly been spent dealing with my relative on hospice. Never had to work with this system before, and frankly, it's exhausting trying to do it all from far away. And, now we've got new medical issues that've come up that required going off of hospice, so it's certainly been a crazy week!

Oh busymom I'm so sorry your relative is in hospice. Per plugginaway22 suggestion, I posted on the travel thread. The trip was just fabulous, both the things we saw, and spending time with my family.

Hi all, It's been a busy few weeks for me, so I've been avoiding social media. We've purchased and wrapped 160 Welcome Back gifts for the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Monday is the kick-off day. I'm so glad all of that is out of my house!
We've spent a weekend with Miss Grandbaby. She got to spend the night with us without her parents. Both parents had to work out of town, so it was easier for them for her to stay with us. We also got to see her last week on Wednesday. DD#1 came home for a week. She wanted a break from work and school and life before she starts her fall term of her senior year and student teaching.
The dishwasher sputtered for. a few weeks, and I denied that was happening. It's finally gone kaput, and we've ordered a new one. It won't be here until September 3. Home Depot only delivers to our area on Tuesdays. Handwashing takes FOREVER! With alteration in my job, I have to be at work at 7:00am. Adjusting to that schedule while adding in hand washing has been quite frustrating.
I'm switching out the regular decor accents in the living areas of the house for the autumn decor accents. That's area rugs, curtain, throw pillows, and wall decor and a few other items. All of that should be done tomorrow.
That's about it for us.

I'm still spending my days watering. I did get a reprieve a few days ago when we had actual rain that provided a good soak. Plants and sod seem to be settling in well, except for one piece of sod on a corner that either I had overlooked and not watered or was a dud when it was put in. I wonder if I can buy just one square yard of sod to replace it.
I have also been working on a wall in the living room that needed repainting after some paint began peeling. It got wet from behind when the gutters backed up. Anyway, I stripped the peeling paint, spackled, sanded and washed the wall, then primed and have been trying out various colors. I almost had settled on a rosy tan but now I've decided it's too cool; it reminds me of a pale mauve. So I picked out a couple of other colors to test. Benjamin Moore store fortunately has a deal where you can get one sample can a month per account, so both DH and I have accounts now. Also gives 25% off purchases with account.
Everything else is waiting for when I recover from the enervating heat wave that appears to be finally over. When I'm confident in that, I'll do some back yard gardening and start prepping the portico for a new paint job.

Sent a bunch of unused stationary to a friend and some fabric to another friend. The fabric was a special purchase so it wasn't an actual "decluttering" but the stationary was. The last load of laundry is in the dryer. It's been pretty warm that past couple days and I didn't want to spin my meter through the roof so I limited laundry-doing to one load a day. I had intended on having a yard sale yesterday but didn't wake up early enough. Maybe next weekend. With it being nearly September, and me wanting to list the house in October, I need to step up my packing efforts.
I made it to the base track last night and walked for 30 minutes. Hadn't been able to the past couple nights because of rain and won't be able to the next few nights because I'll be working.

finnime your garden looks gorgeous after the landscaping! You have a beautiful home! Knee Deep in Water Chloe we took DS3 to Brussels last Aug for his internship year, but he'd already finished his first two years of college in the UK. College (undergrad) is 3 years in Europe. Some UK universities have a four-year "placement" option where you spend your third year doing a one-year internship, and then go back for your third/final year of college. DS3 chose that option. It means you graduate with a year of FT work experience. I woke up at 3 pm so nothing got done today. Yikes! A 9h time difference isn't easy, I'm dreading getting up for work tomorrow. Then I'm not working again till Fri, so I should be fine by then.
These are extra hours for Job 1. The regular schedule starts next Mon. Job 2 starts the following week.

After weeks, or has it been months? of accomplishing nothing I'm finally making a bit of progress. I'm not complaining, the summer has been a whirlwind of work, sleep, socialize. Rinse and repeat.
The girls and I deep cleaned the entire downstairs this week. I think it's the first time we've all been home on the same day this summer.
I went through my clothes again and found 30 items to donate. I've recently purchased a couple, trying to live by the one in/one out rule. Plus meow. DD also contributed so I have a full bag going out on Wednesday. Still going through DD's clothes so there will probably be more. She gets a lot of clothes from a woman with a large budget and a shopping addiction. Many with the tags still on! If I were only a size two again...I'd be incredibly well dressed! I purchased a planner that starts in August so have been trying to make lists and and actually PLAN. Other than meal planning I generally just wing it. Not the most effective use of my time.
For the last few years I've done my (not sure where the idea came from) 30 meals in 30 days in September. Thirty different meals. I'm working on that now. By the end of the summer I'm sick to death of grilled meats and salads. I have a couple of new recipes I've saved to add to the mix. I list them all on the chalkboard so I never have to guess what's for dinner. I make doubles of whatever freezes well so October is an easy dinner month as well.
My break is over...time to get dinner together...

The weather is supposed to be fall like all week. That means I won't mind spending time going through the rest of the boxes that are in the garage. I've added some to the ones DN3 brought up from the basement. I think there are 5 boxes and 2 totes out there to go through. The totes are Christmas stuff and my sister has already said she wants the ribbons. I will have some signed Beatles books (signed by authors) to try to sell on eBay, so want to get those listed at some point soon. I will group them so I can hopefully get rid of more that way. Once that's done, it will be time to ask DN3 to stop by and bring more boxes up from basement. Good luck at work tomorrow debthaven. Jet lag totally sucks. I don't envy you. Yes, by Friday your body should be adjusted. I haven't done a long car ride in some time and I found out at age 67 that I need to stop and walk more often than I used to.

finnime, what a relief to have that wall addressed. ~~~~~~~~~~ It was another whirlwind weekend. I surprised DH with an anniversary gift 3 hours away Saturday, so we didn't get anything accomplished at home. Sunday, however, was a different story, as he had to get all of his chores done and left to work out of town again this morning. On my end: 5 loads of laundry, including sheets Scrubbed our toilet and vanity Vacuumed the main floor Unloaded the dishwasher and reloaded it Simple Greened the stove top and burner covers Processed eggs, salads and snacks for several work days
Organized the refrigerator DH taught me the process of hauling water for our irrigation tank Put away last week's clothing and jewelry Went through a stack of snail mail Clipped coupons I cannot wait until the upcoming 3 day weekend. I also cannot believe it's almost September...

Finally able to report some decluttering progress. Five boxes of miscellaneous papers, documents, newsletters, and random stuff and whatsits emptied and sorted into recycling, shredding, and trash. (All that was worth keeping fits into a small shoebox.)
It's not a lot, but it's cleared some space in the corner where they were sitting. Yay me!

Just finished emptying 2 more boxes. Most of the contents are going into the "Donate" box.
Found my glow-in-the-dark squeaky octopus. I'm keeping that.

I sold an antique hoosier and the people are coming Friday to get it. $200 (I could probably get a bit more, but I am happy with that). So now I have to clean it out and find a home for the stuff. It is stuff that I don't use often, but I do use. Getting ready to pack up all the Lego's in the dining room and put them in the basement. Kids don't play with them anymore, but we don't want to get rid of them. Waiting on final quote for flooring - will have this tomorrow. Meeting with cabinet person Friday to go over the final quote. We don't borrow a lot of money, so I had no idea it would take 30-45 days to get a home equity line set-up. We knew a refi would take that long, but we are not going that route since our rate is only 2.875%. So, today we are starting the process to get the equity line set-up. We have $ to get down payments on stuff, but to pay off the balance, we need the equity line.

I took last week off from work and I didn't go to Mom's one single day. I did get rid of some stuff that had been sitting around my own house waiting to be hauled off.
