I have been dealing with my own parental issues which has put getting much of anything done at home on hold, again. Mom is finally scheduled for her first hip replacement surgery at the end of January. Her mobility is getting worse by the day and this week she has been battling dizziness all week. She did finally see a doctor on Wednesday who said it was deposits in her inner ear that was causing it and gave her some exercises and a pill that is supposed to help with the vertigo. I had already been doing things like getting Mom's mail on a regular basis and various other assorted tasks as needed. This week I added grocery shopping and more frequent stops at the house. Based on what DD did yesterday, which I think is a good idea that I hadn't thought of, I think I will be adding picking up her newspaper off of the walk, lawn, flowerbed, or wherever it may land and putting it on the front porch. Mom has double front doors and the type of handle she has on the doors works very well to slip the paper in the handle of the door that isn't regularly used. Then Mom doesn't even have to bend over or step outside to get her paper. It will add about 10 minutes to my morning but is better than Mom falling.

TheO - when my family was meeting to decide my grandparent’s care I was not in the meeting. Instead, I sat with my grandma in a nearby room so she wouldn’t be alone. No matter what level of care they recommend the staff should be able to revise up or down depending on how the first few weeks goes. The director may also ask if the family will be providing some services so you may want to know those options.
Hugs, this can’t be easy.

So do I. Assisted living just called. They are meeting with dad, sister and niece on Tuesday. I have opted out because it doesn't matter what I say. Director did say that sister has not accepted reality yet and that my niece said the same thing. Dad is going to be living in a much safer place. The director doesn't think he needs their highest level of care. She is thinking 3rd highest level of care, plus bathing. Don't you handle your father's finances? You should go so your sis doesn't try and cheap out on stuff that would make your Dad's life easier/better when you know that he can afford it. With her being in denial she is likely to say he can still do various things when in fact he can't or doesn't do them reliably. Sister has the financial POA. Assisted living director said sister wants bathing and help with hearing aids. Those are the only two add-ons that seem to be applicable. If meals are delivered, they charge $4. I hope that his cheapness will get him to go to the dining room.

The first meeting is to convince dad that he has to move. Then the nurse will assess him to see what level of care he needs.
I hope he doesn't fight this and he can be convinced that he needs to go to assisted living.
Thanks, Chloe and all for your concern.

Out today for a funeral and wishing I’d brought my own Kleenex. It seems like an annual trip back to my childhood church for a funeral for the past 3 years... this is the youngest person by far.
I was right that several artists thanked my friend Mike at the CMAs on Wednesday, it was nice to see that recognition.
My goal today is to make it home from my parent’s house without taking anything with me. Especially a stray kitten which is little more than a ball of floof.

I truly hope hope all works out smoothly with your dad, TheOtherMe. You're filling an extraordinarily difficult role, being supportive of helpful steps without getting tripped up by your DSis or father's obdurateness. Best to you over the next days.

I got things done today and it feels good. Bed changed Bathrooms cleaned Litterbox cleaned 3 loads of laundry done Transferred the money from PayPal to checking from my survey taking (will add to the vacation fund) Paid a couple of bills YNAB up to date Took my bills and a couple Mom had asked me to mail to the post office Got up on the roof and with the blower and got the leaves/pine needles off the roof. Blew out the two gutters that don't have gutter guard on them and cleaned off the gutter guard at the one junction that seems to collect stuff and then overflow onto the front deck.
Raked leaves Put a couple more lawn chairs in the garage. Swept the front deck I have a pot roast in the oven for dinner and leftovers for the coming week. I think I will run over to Mom's and do a quick mail run and then call it an evening. Christmas is coming and I need to get DGS stocking done. The knitting is finally done just need to get it finished up.

Great job everyone. Sharon I'm sorry your days are getting longer with the extra stop at your Mom's. This weekend
- MSc: 2 reports/Sun
- enter marks/Sun
- DH Shitepile/Sun
- clear out DH's stuff under stairs/Sun
- clear out DH's bicycle + motorcycle boxes/Sun
DH's Shitepile took 40 min. Years ago it used to take two days (literally!)
This week is a short week with almost no marking. It's the calm before the storm of final reports/exams.
This week
- 17 tests/Mon - 13 tests/Tues - haircut + color/Wed - baby gift W

For some weird reason I had the urge to get Christmas things out. DH said what are you thinking? I told him that in 2 weeks I may not want to do anything Christmas related so we should act on it now. Sipping coffee contemplating this for today.

I feel like I accomplished something in the house today for the first time in a long time. As well as going through DH's Shitepile, we also went through the stash of bags DH keeps under the staircase, and the 2 Ikea containers on the basement landing (DH's bicycle stuff and motorcycle stuff). I thought I'd cured DH of stashing empty (or full) plastic bags in other bags under the stairs, alas no. So we went through all of those too.
He didn't get rid of much besides old paperwork, but everything's neat now.

As of 1:40 p.m. I win! My goal was to write 50,000 words of a novel this month, and I got to 50,051.
It's a start of a start.

I've got all my clothes unpacked and stowed into the closets in my room. I still need to reposition the bed so that it's not right under the drafty window but I'll save that kind of moving for a few days from now when I'm more recovered from being sick. I need to figure out how to accommodate both cat boxes--instead of just the one--so that my accident kitty has fewer reasons to avoid the box. I bought the family an early Christmas gift and it arrives tomorrow--a garage fridge--so I'll be hanging out, waiting for the delivery guys; while, also, continuing the Grey's Anatomy binge.

DD sent me a text yesterday asking if I had seen her glasses. I looked around, but I am pretty sure DH gave them to me saying they were mine. I did not recognize them, but just thought these must be really old. I think I tossed them. DD said they were really expensive. I can't figure out why it would not have occurred to me they might be DD's. She doesn't live at home, but she does come home regularly. Right now her Rabbits are living at our house b/c they gave notice on their apartment and the owners are showing it. She spent the night Wed, took a trip to San Fran, came home Saturday AM, DH took her to CHI for a Military Ball with her Boyfriend, and she came home yesterday and grabbed her stuff and car and left.
I am a complete failure at decluttering - I always seem to toss the wrong things. Still, this makes me think I need less stuff in my house, less complicated life. Part of the problem is I can only control my own stuff. So, since other's around me aren't so concerned about getting rid of stuff that is cluttering up the house - I get rid of my stuff.
When DD was home the other day, She had purchased a new Away bag. She was not sure it was the color she ordered, so she decided that their hotel was 2 blocks away from the store, so she was going to take it with, and exchange it. Since she wanted to exchange it, she had it in another suitcase, that she told us she "forgot" she had (Her BF remided her she had it, it was in her storage unit). She brought a suitcase we bought in 2011 that had a broken buckle and told me to toss it. I told DH I was going to take it to good will. He was all like, but it is still good. I told him, it is no longer regulation carry on size, it is broken, we have at least 2 other carryons - we are getting rid of it. As soon as he left, I threw it in my car, and I dropped it at good will yesterday. Someday I will have to clean out the garage at his office, and it will be a nightmare. It is where he takes everything I tell him to get rid of instead of the or goodwill.

I'm sorry about DD's glasses bean29 I was thinking It's fine, I have like $6600 in my HSA, I will just buy her new ones, but then I went to look how much I paid for the last pair, and it is not in my HSA history - that is b/c she is no longer a dependent on my Tax Return, so I paid cash for the last pair . I told her she will be eligible for another pair under the insurance on Jan 1. IDK if we should buy a cheap pair in the interim or not - she wears contacts most of the time.

Since she wears contacts most of the time, does she have an old pair she can live with until Jan?

So, when I am stressed, I seem to be more productive. Saturday at the office: Balanced two checkbooks Emptied the garbage, did dishes, watered plants Inventoried new marketing materials
Processed two large mailings Yesterday at home: Did 5 loads laundry, including sheets
Hand washed the Halloween table cloth
Scrubbed two toilets Tetrised Halloween decorations into totes and put them away Dusted the rec room and set out the fragile items that had been stashed for the party Dishwasher emptied, dishes done
Pulled out the Christmas decorations and tree and brought them upstairs w/ the help of DH Processed salads and steamed eggs for this week Made tempura eggplant using almond flour Stashed year-round decorations and the kitchen table in my home office Dusted the main room Unpacked two of four Christmas decoration totes Read a magazine
Today: Bank Post office Cleaned the sink
Processed email Set a lunch appointment for tomorrow Bought another gift on Amazon, and priced another. $108 for a boxed DVD set? Ouch.

Lost my post. So trying again. I managed to get my day started earlier than usual and ran several errands. A trip to the post office to drop off property taxes as well as the sales taxes from last week's craft shows. Also ran to the grocery for one item and came out with several other items. I will need to get some additional items next week for Thanksgiving but have been picking up things a little at a time as I can. Visited my closest DressBarn to see if I could find anything -- managed to get two tops to replace some that are getting very worn. Will check out the store further out to see if there are any others that I could use. All of you are doing well. I need to get back on the wagon as there were several days that I just "chilled". Goals for week of 11/18: Several held over from last week or new ones with same topics. Crafts:
*Project -- Continue on current beading projects and continue to work on crochet project. *Update Etsy listings-- need to renew one or twothat are expiring this week Commitments and Errands:
*Tutoring -- Tuesday and Wednesday *Meeting -- Tuesday *Classes -- Wednesday and Thursday *Show -- Friday -- with friend Routine Home Items:
*Decorate for Thanksgiving *Maintain the organized areas ( Get a few back in order ) *Keep up with dishes, laundry and general cleaning *Organize at least two areas *Add several more items to donation box/ trash/library donation Sure that I forgot several things. Will check in later.

It tends to paralyze me. I hope you find a way to relax - this sounds kind of like a bi-polar high to me. Maybe you need to call your Dr. and see if they can give you something to help you calm down?

Yeah, in the past lethargy was a result. This time I'm calling it nervous energy and forcing myself into production. It's whittling down the procrastination list I haven't had time for.

I am really looking forward to chilling more when I'm retired, and I hope I'm even somewhat as active as you are! Iggy aka IG I read on another thread that you are having a hard time at work these days. I hope things get better for you soon. Chloe, same. I can't help but wonder whether this is the right time to be furthering your education, with everything that's going on at work.
