Whitey Bulger wikiI love that it's already been updated. zibazinski - this may have been released from the paywall, since it's current news again. pretty solid local coverage of stuff. link

11 murders, at least. That's what he was convicted of. He was serving life and was 89 at the time of his death.
It's fairly safe to assume that he caused a whole lot more death than that. The guy was pretty dire and had a piece of a whole lot of action.
I'm shocked that you haven't heard of him.

This was unnerving to frightening. I worked with a man who idolized the mafia guys and Manson. The rest of the coworkers were thugs, also.

Organized crime boss, murderer (19 or 20 people if I remember correctly), arms dealer, drug dealer - you name it. On the lam for over a decade, he was finally caught and arrested in Santa Monica, CA. It was a well-publicized case at the time (around 2010 or 2011, I think).

It's very odd how he ended up in Hazelton. He was transferred last week out of Florida to a transfer center in Oklahoma City. They moved him to Hazelton Monday and he was killed Monday night. Apparently he's the third death in seven months at Hazelton. I guess it is as bad as I've heard. I drive by that highway exit regularly.

I thought about starting a thread about this earlier today. But then decided to give you the honor. And you did.

Let me go out on a limb here and postulate that the investigation into his death will be about as satisfying as the explanation of how he stayed on the lam so long. We're going to get stories. Whether we should believe those stories is another matter.

I fear for your old digs. my mom's Irish side is still in Southie. the stories I grew up with...woof. you didn't cross him back in the day. as far as this demon spawn, I just heard on a local newscast, some former associate of his that turned on him happens to also be in that WV prison. Will try to find more on it tomorrow. this all stinks of a set up ambush. time.will tell, but the world is a little brighter today, regardless of how we got here.

if I may, I actually believe the "how" in how he stayed hidden so long. this guy was a charmer, he slicked his way out of so many things he didn't serve time for. I honestly thought he would be the first to live to 150 or longer, he's had a fucking horseshoe up his ass his whole life so far. what's come to light about his time on the lam, it's not so farfetched for a charmer.

By charmer, I'm assuming that you mean curse-caster. This guy ruined the lives of a whole lot of people, and not because he made them love him.

I suggest you read a little more about him. this guy also took little.old ladies to buy their groceries and carried them safely upstairs for them. he was a charmer, when he wanted to be. "Black Mass" is a decent start.

I read the story about how he switched out girlfriends to accompany him on the lam, and the charming story about how he refreshed his stale greenbacks at casinos.
The guy had a talent for making people see what they wanted to see. I think that it will continue for a while after his death.

Hmmm, how did he mysteriously was killed in prison under the watchful eye of law enforcement?? I've heard he was in an area of the prison that was understaffed. Now why he ended up there is another question. I've heard that prison is badly understaffed. ETA: 1 in 5 staff positions at the prison is vacant.

I've been reading up on the local coverage today, and apparently his health hadn't been the greatest lately, that he was supposed to be moved to a medical facility and this wasn't one.

so the local news last night was interviewing relatives of some of the victims. two of the interviewees were the wife and son of Michael Donahue, who wasn't involved in anything criminal that any investigators could find, had the misfortune of being in the car with another target. the son, who was 8 when his father was killed, was quoted to say that he was taking pleasure in knowing that Whitey would be getting a pitchfork up his ass from the devil himself every day til the end of time, and that if he finds out who got him, he's putting money in that guy's canteen. good man.

That is definitely not a medical facility. They said he was in a wheelchair and near death. I can't imagine it took much beating to kill him.
It is odd he ended up there. It's not a medical facility and it's a long way from Oklahoma where he was after being moved from Florida. His lawyer had been saying he was going to be moved to a medical facility. Not sure what happened.

I'm just surprised it took this long for it to happen. It would have been much more appreciated if this had been done BEFORE the farce of a trial and waste of taxpayer money. Jesus Effin' Christ.

Probably was the Geas guy I bet. I saw some other sources claiming it was him and that he's going to be infamous in prison now. I mean the guy's already serving a life sentence and he's 51 I think they said? What are they going to do to him? Send him to Supermax?
