This is on the heels of what is your weather? A lot of peeps miserable because of the weather and other issues. My misery level is low. Overcast outside. My back and hip have no pain. 3 months ago I couldn't walk without help and significant pain. Here is your pre-hug .

Weather here is awful. I did get outside for a walk before the worst of it moved in and did some yard work too. That helped a lot. I have chores and freelance to do and DH is fully occupied watching motorsports all day. Dinner is simple tonight. House is clean. Health is good. I am looking for a new job (again) but finances are in good shape. So I think my misery level could be a lot worse.

Amazingly enough, currently 0. Life is awesome.
Yesterday was gorgeous. Today is gorgeous. I can’t remember the last time we had two consecutive days of sunny weather AND I was free to enjoy them. It’s pretty incredible the difference getting some sun can have on your mood when you feel like you’ve been living under a grey, cloudy dome for the last couple of years.

It's hot out but I'm cleaning the truck in the garage and then I'm going to wash it I think.
After I come in going to work on that cap again and see if I can get the stuff to stick.

Weather wise, I am miserable. It's 93 and humid. Record high is 94. I don't know if it's reached 94 or not. That was set in 1890 something.

It's raining here (monsoon-level rain). There is a wasp trapped in my fireplace making a racket. I just made a meatloaf. I need a haircut.
On the whole, life is pretty good. I woke up on the right side of the dirt. My dog buddy still likes me. Nobody's shooting at me.
No complaints.

Aaaand it seems I spoke too soon.
Our monsoon rains have caused flash flooding in our historic district again, just as the merchants and residents of Main Street were getting back on their feet after the flood 2 years ago. Now I'm sad.

Are you near Ellicott City? My brother is in Perry Hall. He texted me to watch the news. I did. I wished I hadn't. I love Ellicott City.

Yes, I live in Ellicott City, but I'm a few blocks from the historic area that experienced the worst of the flooding. It's an old mill town built on a steep slope next to a river. There has been a lot of development above the town with streets and other pavement. When there is a lot of rain in a short period of time like we had today, the water doesn't drain into the soil anymore; it just rushes downhill via all the pavement and ends up converging in the narrow little streets of the historic area. This flood was apparently worse than the one in 2016. The merchants and residents of the historic area had only recently managed to get much of the area back to normal. It's very sad.

I go there every time we visit Baltimore. I logged into a Baltimore news station to get more info. And it looks much worse than 2016.

They are saying it is worse than 2016. My massage therapist is located in old Ellicott City off Main Street. She's on the second level so I'm hoping her place is okay. A coworker co-owns a business there as well. They fared decently in 2016 so I'm hoping for the same. It's pretty unreal to watch on TV.

Are we talking Kathy Bates misery level or just your average ordinary misery level I'll have to give that some thought The misery level K.B was at or the misery level she dished? It's up to you. What brought this up was threads devolved to misery. Sweltering heat, now rain, floods, fear for people and places. Physical ailments, allergies, headaches, body aches. All of the side effect in the TV commercials. We'll give some hugs and love to ease whatever.

This time there was flooding on Rt. 40 from Chatham Station west, on Rt. 29, and, as I understand it, St. Johns Lane both north and south of Rt. 40. I'm sure there were more affected areas; those were just the ones I've heard about so far. This was definitely worse than 2016. I was just in the historic district on Friday and was glad to see so many business up and running again and the infrastructure more or less restored, though without the nice pre-2016 brick sidewalks. Now they're back to square 1, or worse. So sad.

Ellicott City needs to figure out flood control. Merchants cannot stand hits like that every other year. I am sooo sorry for them. I hope for better days for them.

I think there might have been some progress toward a good flood-control solution taking place over the next year or two, but the initial focus after the last flood was to get things back in shape and the road back in service. There should have been more thought given to the possibility of another flood happening soon after the last, and maybe there was but there wasn't time to get enough done.
The main problem is that the developers in this county are too often allowed to build wherever they want, so the construction in the area above the historic district took out woods and ground cover that had protected the town from this kind of flash flood. There have been floods in the past, but they were caused by the rising river. Unfortunately, the merchants and residents of the historic district are small mom and pop stores and quirky artisan businesses, not big-money businesses that have any clout. Most of the residences in the low-lying areas are small rentals, and older, fairly low-value homes compared with the more expensive developments up the hill. Available building lots are scarce in all of Howard County and especially in EC (most of which encompasses an area far beyond the small historic district), and it is a desirable location, so developers (who are also large political contributors, of course) tend to get what they want. The historic area is a tourist attraction, but the businesses in the area are too small to have much influence.

In my state, the Red River has flooded every year since the Earth was formed! They still haven't got good flood control. In my city, a lot was done with flood control but it was expensive. They raised one road and the houses fronting on the road took the brunt of the assessment. Those expensive houses are also on the wrong side of the raised road. Everyone in the area was assessed.

I'm okay. We opened our cabin for the summer yesterday. The weather was beautiful and so was the drive. When we left it was just before dusk, so we saw a LOT of deer as we drove down the mountain. When I got home, I found out that one of my sisters and her husband had hit a deer on their way home. They are okay, but their car... not so much and they only have liability insurance.
Such a bummer!

We missed it by 1 degree today. I'm sorry for the people in Maryland. I have lived through one 500 year flood in my life. Sadly people think because it's a 500 or 1000 year flood it can't happen for another 499 years. Wrong. Every year, there is still a 1 in 500 chance of the event happening. My cousin has had his house go through two 500 year floods in 5 years. FEMA flood maps had not been changed in over 50 years. He had as much flood insurance as he could buy. Finally, last fall, special funding was found and he received enough money to pay off his mortgage.

I was on a high from seeing my GrS and GrDIL for breakfast on their way through town. Then. I asked the question of have you heard from paypal on my dispute with not receiving my merch. Ouch. H. says shouldn't have used paypal because cc resolves faster. Paypal maybe not at all. This on top of why my computer is so slow for 2 days lecture.

Like the tale of the grasshopper and the ant.........My misery level is.....well....wet! I waited too many days to construct that ark!! Please note, an ark would be extremely useful if you intend to play the 4th hole on our golf course this morning.

A lot of golf courses and placed on land that is less desirable and are used for flood plain back up. One year ours was flooded all year. We walked on pallets between holes and had to place our balls. Very interesting conditions. My misery level was high early this morning. I am still overcoming it.
