I don't especially care about the doctor's letter. I think anyone with 3 functioning brain cells and a pair of eyes could tell it was all bullshit. I care that it again highlights the man is a pathological liar and anything that comes out of his mouth can't be trusted. If he lies consonantly about things that don't even matter, I'm not sure how anyone could trust him on anything of any import. His consonants are lies, and so are his vowels! You forgot his punctuation marks are lies too.

“His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary,” Bornstein continued. “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
If nothing elsethat last sentence should have told anyone with more than two braincells that the letter wa a total crock. Bornstein, nor anyone else in this world for that matter, could make that statement since there is no one ,dead or alive, who has examined all individuals elected to the presidency.

why are you sure of that? i am asking that because i can't think of any reason you SHOULD be sure. i am reasonably sure that Trump did the dictating, and the doctor did minor edits. Because of my very vast office experience. At no time, ever, did either a patient or a customer call in and personally dictate letters to the office staff. Not once. I suppose it could happen, but that is the reason I'm quite sure the doctor did the actual dictating....using the language Trump wanted in there, I'm sure. but i bet you never had a doctor like Borenstein (sic). that guy strikes me as an utter goof. he also strikes me as a one man show (or husband and wife show, if you take him at his own word), so he never had anyone like you working for him (like you = independent and mindful). in other words, i am not sure that this entire situation resembles your work environment in any way.

I have clients try to tell me regularly what I "should" write on their behalf. Sorry, my license and reputation are on the line. They can go find someone else to be their monkey. i can think of someone, without much difficulty.

I found the letter to be uproarously laughable at the time, and I revisited the laughter again today as I read elements of the letter sprinkled comically through this thread. Hahahahahahaha........ I mean REALLY! Unequivocally no less. Perhaps Trump dictated it and the good Doctor suggested some of the big words? really. i mean, i am not a Bush fan, but the guy was fit. he ran six days a week. Teddy Roosevelt was also a fitness fiend. i doubt the current POtuS is more fit than him, either. hell, even JFK, because of his age, was pretty fit. so, yeah, a very dubious statement, at best.

That's not what the doctor said. Is anyone else concerned or bothered by this? If Bornstein told Trump what he couldn't put in there, and it STILL ended up as completely ridiculous as it did, what could Trump possibly have wanted that Bornstein thought was over the top? The mind boggles.... here is the thing. if you read the letter, and imagine Trump saying it, you can actually hear his voice. at least i can. i can TOTALLY imagine him bragging about his health like this.

My physician asks me on occasion how I need my correspondence worded. Where I work, if you miss four days in a row from illness, you must have a letter from your physician before you can return to work. When I requested same, he wrote that I had an "acute.....". I asked him to change it to just say I was under the care of a physician and that I didn't need my employer knowing what was wrong - just that I was able to return to work. That's not uncommon and as long as it's the truth, my physician will word my correspondence as I need or want it worded. That doesn't make it a forgery or anything else other than the wording being so obviously un-medical-like.
ETA: I know nobody here said it was a forgery but the internet-hair is on fire over this, acting like they discovered the bones of Jimmy Hoffa. You don't see a difference between asking a doctor not to disclose your medical issues beyond not being able to work and telling your doctor to write that you're in bestest health and fitter than any president (sub in the exact words, I'm not scrolling to find them)?

They guy said today that he had been trumps doctor for 35 years and his father was his doctor before that.
Just looking at the guy not sure I would take my dog to him.
But yes, I was suspect about the letter too, it sounded just like something trump would right, same with Jackson saying
how healthy he was. He was angling for something too. How quickly people will do anything to get more power and money,
that's what most of them are after. I can't see any decent normal person working in trumps administration.

Actually JFK volunteered for probably the worst assignment for some one with his health problems...PT Boat service...these fragile boats..hugh engines..bouncing around just causes havoc to ones bodies...healthy ones...and young sailers...He could have chosen any area in the Navy to serve and then to be able to actually tow one of his crew after the collision of his boat with the Japanese destroyer to a Island , and then go out at night trying to signal a passing naval boat....man did stuff above and beyond...

I heard the doctor explaining on TV the other night, in defense of his statement, that 'all the other presidents are dead or sick.'
So - we're not comparing Trump to a real live TR who loved to gallop around on his horse, we're comparing Trump to all the skeletons laying in their graves, apparently, and announcing that Trump is better than any LIVING president.
Which is still bullshit. Granted, Bush Sr is frail, and I don't now how robust Clinton is, but Bush Jr and Obama? Either one could easily beat Trump in a 20 yard walking race. With them walking backwards.

Generally is a useless term when comparing two individuals. I would say that teenagers are generally in better shape than 45 year olds, but I see some kids in horrible shape walking into the various high schools in the area. I believe I am healthier than some individuals, and definitely not healthier than others.

Borenstein said something similar. he said "many presidents were in terrible health". and that is TRUE. but his statement doesn't extend from that, logically. in fact, he is engaging in a logical fallacy. my guess is that logic figures very high in medical training, so this really doesn't sit well with me. many presidents were NOT in terrible health. that fact competes directly with his assertion.
