I will admit I like Amazing Grace singer(s) to be a little less "angelic" and a little more "wretched". But I'm a guy who got booed by the audience when I was judging a local talent show and said that I thought (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay was not a good song choice for a twelve year old girl. I'll see if I can get word to Disturbed to see if he will do a cover. I bet it will be a little more "wretched" !
Well low and behold I have never heard this version of two songs joined at the hip!! Amazing Grace and The House of the Rising Sun.

I know, right? It's like telling a kid not to touch something.

And it would be the same thing if it were the other way around.

Religious threads are commonly flamed on public message boards. The OP is apparently a message board veteran. While his approach to disarming hostile ideologues is probably one of the worst attempts I've ever seen ( apologies for my frankness, sir, but we all live and learn), and YMAM is exceptionally good about not flaming feel-good religious threads, it would be wrong to conclude he intended to provoke local atheists. For one thing, he's brand new and unfamiliar with the culture of the forum. For another, trolls are blunt and unrepentant, and the OP has been anything but. retread : As a humble suggestion, you may want to change the thread title from "No Atheists allowed!" to e.g. "Gospel and a Capella Music". If somebody accuses you of trying to "bury the truth" (I don't expect it will happen, but it may), tell them you changed it based on my strong recommendation. If they persist beyond that, ignore them. 1 - No apology necessary. Clumsiness was. 3 - I'm rapidly learning the majority culture of this forum is to focus on the good parts in spite of the not good. 3 - I can, and will if deemed necessary. For the time being, I only changed the punctuation in the title, but excised one sentence from the OP and added another. If that flies well, then done. If not, the title will change. Let me know. Giggle moment - This is what the ProBoards title truncation does to the thread address: ymam.proboards.com/thread/55799/atheists-allowed

Change it to "Sorry, Snow Leopards. I Suck at This." 'Snow leopards' is what we call critics on our board, for reasons too detailed to get into. Be sure to post a new link to the thread readers can use to jump back to the OP quickly.

Maybe that's what YOU call critics on our board. Not "we". Ignore her, retread. She's envious that a newcomer is so quickly being invited to partake of our special YMAM customs. (It took her 13 weeks to earn her chops! ) I know you're too clever to let her steer you astray. Not like your old pal Virgil. "Snow leopard" and "uncian" (the adjectival form of uncia uncia, the relevant species) are also local synonyms for anything related to slaughter, depravity, genocide, Nazism, offal, vomit, sewage, hazardous waste, enmity towards mankind, and root canals. Say something like "Wow. I just dropped the biggest pile of uncia on the john," in the "What are you doing right now?" thread every once in a while, or a "He's a rotten snow leopard like the rest of the Third Reich wannabes," in a David Duke thread, you'll be treated like family in no time.

And it will be great when played by bagpipes.

The timing worked at perfectly when my dear golden was laid to rest at the outdoor facility I manage (he was the "camp dog"). We were hosting a fiddle festival at the time and one of champions played Amazing Grace for us as we buried my hiking partner with his backpack.

Being teased mercilessly at home seems enough. Getting that treatment here might put me over my quota. >.<

So, what’s wrong with the title?! Is there some sort of electric shock coming thru your device if you are an atheist and you make a comment on the thread? All I got from the title was that “if you don’t like it, you don’t have to comment or if you comment, no bashing of religion will be acceptable”. We are all adults here!(hopefully)

Alright, now I gotta start over! Thank you very much(not), retread!😀 For the last couple days I had that song stuck in my head and I found myself quite often whistling( I should add that I can whistle pretty much anything!) it. Over and over! I was finally getting to the point that it was fading. Not anymore! Aw, man. I owe you a great big apology. I shouldn't be so reckless with earworms. Personally, I love them. It's like having a battery-free Top-40 radio station inside my head that I can take anywhere! Okay, maybe not Top-40. I guess it would be more like Top-1, right? lol But yeah, I get that some people find them annoying. Sorry. As luck would have it, the weather is clearing (another segue) and I had one all cued up for you. But I've learned my lesson. A disclaimer will be issued. Disclaimer: Contains Earworm. DO. NOT. CLICK.

If you want a cappella, here is the ultimate a cappella. Eric Whitacre composes music which is then performed by people sitting in front of the computer's and singing. He ends up with a virtual choir. The thousands of individual videos are then edited/blended together to create music and the video of same.
This particular Eric Whitacre video is 11:42 minutes long with over 3700 participants. The music is about half the length of the video. The other half are the credits for all who participated in making it.
