(regarding something always seems to be forgotten at the store)
Went to WM on Monday, the grocery store yesterday. Forgot baby spinach both times. I did stick to my list both trips, however. ~Found a dime in the parking lot yesterday .10
~Getting a refund from the Spanish class I postponed $542 ~Brought snacks on a day trip last Saturday saving the ginormous mark up of the concession stand/gift shop. $12 for a small bag of designer popcorn? No thanks.
~Donated several bags of things over the past several weeks resulting in tax deductions ~Continuing to work out at home saving on a gym membership ~Turned in several invoices to the home office for co-op reimbursement purposes $950
~Eating out of the freezer vs buying fast food while DH is out of town this week

Spent money to save money. Had the annual servicings done on the back-up generator (propane powered) and on the ductless HVAC units. We haven't had to use the back-up generator very often but the peace of mind from knowing it's good-to-go when it is needed is worth the cost. The service calls are budgeted for in the home maintenance account. Completed another Fred Meyer survey to add to our gas reward balance.

I filled my gas tank on my way home this morning. Didn't need a full tank but it was 12 cents a gallon cheaper than here.

So did I and I didn't spend any money.
Sadly, staying home does not insure that I won't spend money.

What Small Things Did You Do Today to Save Money?
I went out for a walk without bringing cash or my debit card.

Used store rewards and coupons at the grocery store. They tell me I saved $30.

I fuel up at a half tank now vs. 1/4 - Empty tank range. With gas prices at $4.19 (Costco) a gallon it's still expensive just for a half tank but, still less than paying for a full tank.
Other gas stations prices are higher than Costco. So I feel like I really am saving in the long run.

Used a Safeway promo for 10x the rewards points on specified gift cards. We were already planning to buy a freezer so we purchased the gift cards to pay for it. Whatever rewards points we don't use for gas we can use towards groceries.

I ordered a case of rice noodles 12 cans, not a bad price $8 something I believe. So considered getting the Le Seur tiny peas we like, I looked at those and even from Kroger was over $2 a can, what? Going to go to the store itself and see, I would like 12 cans to put back. Then I looked at fried apples, they are good and something else I would like to have back. I thought $10, well how many, kept looking and read the reviews. One person said I couldn't believe it, when he got it was 1, yes 1 can. Holy smokes, going to the store and Big Lots to see if they are that much. I'm seeing prices of some things going nuts. And hubs says I need to stop canning. I also love dried California apricots. The one brand that has raisins and other dried fruits no longer has them, I can buy in bulk but are they the same? I don't like mediteranean apricots. but apparently since they sell cheaper they are replacing California ones that they said are almost a $1 a pound more. And also people are selling out their orchards for housing, losing different foods or getting priced out, what a shame.

Have you tried frozen veggies and fruits instead of canned? We prefer the taste and they are much easier for us to used the amount we want without wasting like we sometimes do with canned. I can't remember the last time I bought vegetables or fruits in cans.

I returned some denture stuff I had bought for DH --Polident tablets, a new denture brush, and some Fixodent. It was all new in the package, and I still had receipts.

I love edamame and always order it when DH and I would go to the sushi restaurant. I don't eat sushi, though, so I won't be going there now.
Costco had a bag with 12 packages for $9.99. Organic, even. It was $4..99 at the sushi restaurant and, for all I know, the same thing.
It is good!

Made an extra payment on our HELOC loan. Fingers crossed I'll have the loan paid off at the end of this month.

I've only had two payments on my HELOC and neither were for the payment amount. I paid the same, higher amount each month.
Today I got a free chai tea.

I gratefully accepted a bunch of new clothes from mom. She used to own a boutique. I have some really nice pieces now, just no where to wear them. I asked my contractor to deduct a job from the quote as were doing a patch up not a detailed repair.

I reorganized my freezer so that I was forced to actually see what is in it. I'm going to take some of it to my daughter on Tuesday--popsicles, jr. ice cream bars, and a family size frozen lasagna.
I am also determined to eat my way through the rest of it. I started with a WW Chicken Alfredo. Was it very good? No. But I wasn't very hungry either, and it filled me up.

~Used a gift card at Starbucks ~Been incorporating leftovers from the freezer into meals ~Packed food we had on hand rather than make a special grocery stop for a recent weekend trip
~Procured a few leftover bottles of adult beverages for the above trip from a party my sister had this summer ~Been using leftover Cranberry Juice Light from our Halloween party in my cocktails ~Making sure I use every bit of toothpaste, soap, etc. before opening a new one ~Bought 1/4 cow which will save on beef costs in the long run and the product is delicious.
~My tablet is finally paid off so the Verizon bill is $10 less. I might call and cancel the service for it as I never use it. Spent $455 on groceries last month. Goal is $300 this month.

Saved 22% at the grocery store by using coupons, e-coupons, and buying sale items. Saved .03 per gallon by using my grocery store value card (less savings at the pump is a result of buying less at the grocery store).
Saved about $15 at Target yesterday because I put some items back.

I sent a package back to QVC, opened a CD with a local bank rather than being tempted to spend that money.
On the spending side, I bought a little house warming gift for the lady who is moving in next door to me, and bought a little T-day gift for the sisters who have invited some of us widows to T-day dinner. They love to cook and we love to eat....what a great group of ladies.

There was $5/$30 Sprouts coupon this week that Publix will take as a competitor's coupon. I coupled that with some other coupons (mostly digital from their site) and their BOGOS. I ended up spending almost $50 and saving $40. I'll take that.
I have donated a lot of stuff to the thrift store, but I put two things on the FB trading site. I had a set of dark wood tv trays and stand. I also had 2 card table sets. My DIL wanted one of the card table sets, but my daughter didn't. I got $20 each. I figured they would sell this close to Thanksgiving. People are looking for extra tables, etc.
But I bought something I really didn't need. I love dishes. And someone had a set of pretty floral Pfaltzgraff for $25. They'll look pretty in the china cabinet when spring gets here. But I am donating stuff like that constantly, trying to downsize. Oh, well, it was only $25, and I bet I could get my money back for some of the large serving pieces if I wanted to start selling on Ebay again. Most of this was new in the package.
I sanitized everything. I love dishwashers with that feature!

~Used up the small amounts on several gift cards at Starbucks this morning as another way to simplify clutter ~Saved $2 on lotion at Wally World last night using a coupon ~WW had two salmon options (yay heart health eating!). A package of Atlantic with 6 servings, or one of Alaskan with 2 servings for about the same price. I bought the 6 serving size. We'll see.
~Sticking to my Christmas budget
