Happy prose, those are both fantastic ideas! I'll have to explore more next time I'm there.

This one was a two-step money saver...
I have a shed where some things go to be forgotten. At some point, one of these things was a Coleman ice chest. I opened it up a while ago (last summer? I have no idea) and found some wet, smelly, moldy, slimy stuff in it (plastic itself was in great shape). Trying to save it, I poured baking soda all over the inside, leaving a big pile of it in there. And forgot it again :/
Yesterday, thinking I may need to buy a second ice chest for a coming camping trip, I spotted it in the shed (son must have been in there and set something on top of it...) Anyway, pulled it out, and the baking soda was still in there, the mess had dried, and there was no smell. Dragged it into the house and stuck it in the tub, squeezed some Dawn inside, and filled it with hot water. Went back a bit later, drained the water, and sprayed Mrs. Meyers all purpose cleaner all over it. Came back a bit later with an old sponge, scrubbed it out, then gave it one more douse of cleaner. Now it looks like new, no smell at all, and I avoided spending between $50 - $200 for a new one (the higher end because I've caught myself looking for a nicer cooler for a while).

That is something we pay a fortune for is Sirius, we have it in 2 vehicles and a portable unit we use in the motorhome or hubs uses in his garage. So costs us almost $400 a year, you can get it for less?? He is saying once the penalty expires we are dumping Dish, but he hears all his news programs on it. We can get them on the free channels but a day old. I doubt he does that. I'm home today working on taxes have to take them in Monday, want to see if they are together, so not spending anything.
Depending on what news programs you watch, it may be on Sirius. They have a lot of news channels: good morning america, CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, BBC, Fox, NPR. If you are mostly listening, and don't want the "pictures" you could just move over. My DH wants to get rid of Comcast, but its the only high speed internet option we have. They charge so much extra if you have internet only, its not worth it. Although maybe I'll try to call and cancel to get some sort of discount. What a pain.... I get my Sirius for less - although that is primarily because I have gone with a multi-year plan on most of our radios since we don't listen to anything else, and I even use the app on phone to listen to it outside when I'm working in the yard. We do have a portable unit; I'm pretty sure I bought a lifetime subscription on it at some point since I get all the channels it can take and I haven't renewed it in years. However, I don't want to call attention to it by asking either.....

I had satellite radio on my car for the first month. While it was nice, it wasn't worth me paying for it. In the car, I just stream prime music or free pandora over my phone, and blue tooth it to my car stereo. In places I can't get reception, CDs or radio fill in the gap for me just fine.

Ok, I called on Sirius said I was cancelling so what would have been $392 for a year is now $197, nice discount for 2. Will do the same when number 3 comes due, she said we had had the service for 12 years, we like it.

Lately: ~Saved 22% at the grocery store using paper and e-coupons ~Saved .60 per gallon at the pump using the store value card ~Saved at least $40 yesterday since Kohl's and BBB didn't have what I was looking for ~Earned $6 by returning empty ink and toner cartridges to Office Depot ~Saved $20 or so by not picking up fast food on the way home last night. Ate leftovers instead. ~Bought 4 BOGO t-shirts and a tank top yesterday
~Continuing to save time and money by receiving my RX 3 months at a time via mail order

Nothing. I am better at spending than saving.
We don’t eat out much, so there is that.

Did not yield to the siren song of takeout while running errands. Our main meal today was from our stockpile of homemade goodies in the freezer.
Saved .50 a gallon using our Fred Meyer gas reward points.

Didn't spend anything today. There are 3 sets of books, I like the survivor stuff and about EMP's and things like that. They are new enough don't think I can get them used yet. I will look them up though to see. I think its about 20 books, but $72, ouch. I put them on my "wants" list on amazon but haven't pulled the trigger to buy them yet. Right now I'm reading Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson.

I signed up for a library card and checked out the book that I want to read instead of just buying it on Amazon.
I also changed my cell phone service from Ting to Mint Mobile. Our bill on Ting has been creeping up as our usage increased, and Mint Mobile offers unlimited talk, text, and 3 gig data for $15 per month, with the promise that after the 3 gig is used up it will still be unlimited, just at a slower speed.
At some point this year I want to start making my own ice tea instead of buying it, but I don't have any sun tea jars, so I have to work out an appropriate container.

This is from Thursday. There was an event at my work. The food was set up for many more people than showed up. I ate from leftovers and did not go out to dinner that evening.

I ordered online a case of TP and toweling paper. A new hair dryer, finally gave up on my ancient ones and used ones I buy, I bought new. Also ordered hubs a big package of lava soap. I like ordering stuff online and we have Amazon price so use it with free shipping. Wish I could order fresh to be delivered.

~Brought snacks and beverages from home for the hotel room (yay mini fridges!) ~Bought only 1 cocktail and one Starbucks the entire time ~Bought a sandwich at a deli on the drive home, and it was large enough for 2 meals

I didn't buy pie and ice cream at the Senior Center. I got a free ceramic bowl from the college to glaze and Raku fire.

Saw this over the weekend while reading from my phone, and I wanted to respond when I got to my CPU (easier to type). Not sure if you have a method or not, but we bought DH an inexpensive actual sun tea container from Wal Mart several years ago. We buy the large tea bags from Sam's Club, put 2 at a time for each batch, and brew it in the fridge. He goes through a container a week for his lunches. So much cheaper than buying the pre-made bottled stuff.

Is there a rule that we need to make iced tea in an actual sun tea container? I usually buy the largest Peak tea container, drink it all up, clean it out and make tea.....Normally, I just guess on how many tea bags and whether or not they are the small ones or the big ones.
The weather here hasn't been warm enough for tea drinking yet and at the rate winter doesn't want to go away it might not ever be.

I live in the land of (sweet) iced tea and never have I made sun tea. Boil some bags on the stove, stir in sugar and more water to get to strength I prefer and into the fridge it goes.

Same here minus the sugar! Yea I know that's blasphemy I should add I am brand specific when it comes to tea though. Luzianne Tea. And Yep, I have tried all brands over the years

My mom used to make sub tea when I was a kid. She had a large glass container that she made it in. And no sugar in the tea - yuck! When I make tea, though, I just boil the water in a tea kettle, and tea bags and let it steep, and then put into my pitcher, add water, and refrigerate.

While out and about yesterday: ~Saved .10 a gallon at the pump by using my grocery value card ~Brought food from the office to eat on the road vs buying lunch ~Compiled the following errands on one day since I was going to be in town for niece2's school ceremony
~Saved at the dentist and eye doctor thanks to DH's insurance ~Didn't buy the transition lenses though I really wanted to! Saved $348.
~Thanks to their inefficient customer service and computer system , saved $500+ by not buying a dishwasher at Lowe's ~Bought a new humidifier which apparently doesn't use filters = savings in future ~Since I was already in the big city, bought mom and sis flowers for an early Mother's Day ~I did buy dinner since I was in town for so long, but it was enough for leftovers
