Fast food. I used to eat it for convenience, then realized I was eating it too often. I only have it every couple of years now. It doesn’t taste as good as I remember, and the intestinal after effects last for days, so it’s just not worth it.
Soda. I used to pound down Mountain Dew like it was going out of style, at least until I tied heart palpitations to my soda intake. Now I’ll very rarely get a bottle of Sprite or something when I’m out running errands, but I never keep it on hand at home. On a hot day I used to love getting a soda with ice at the soda fountain, but I started getting horrible, sick headaches immediately after drinking them, so I don’t do that anymore.
When I was growing up I used to love Kraft macaroni and cheese. The type with the sauce packet, not the horrible powdered cheese type. I can’t stand it anymore. I think they changed the cheese recipe a number of years ago and it just doesn’t taste the same.
I used to love to make homemade breads, muffins, pastries, etc. Still do actually, but rarely make them anymore. Once I hit my mid 30’s I lost my ability to eat almost unlimited amounts of those items without gaining weight. 😡
For Many years (maybe 15?) I have known I am lactose intolerant.
More recently I have determined that I can not eat anything with corn in it. The reading I did suggests that it may be related to the GMO seeds they have developed. Makes me that our lawmakers have basically made it illegal for food manufactures to disclose if something contains GMO seeds/products.
I eat less meat and prepared foods by preference since neither are my favorite foods. I rarely snack between meals unless I crave a salty food. The only time I eat fast food is when we are traveling and no other choices are available.
I buy less and less prepared food. As I have gotten more into cooking, i like to know how things are made and come together. And, I want to eat more real food. I don't buy boxed mac and cheese. I find it tasteless and I want real cheese on my mac not powdered. I don't drink much soda. I never was a big soda drinker but did like it some in the past. If i really want a soda, i try to find one with cane sugar, not corn syrup.
