I looked at their list one time and realized there were 4 charities on that list that I felt were worthy organizations. The rest were as corrupt as the United Way.

My first 'real job' was at a company that was really big in our city. They were always top givers in the UW campaign. They 'urged' every employee to give 'their fair share'. Well, I didn't one year and that was the end of any future jobs in the company. I made our dept. be less than 100%, so the top dog was gunning for me from that day on. DH worked for the same company and the UW sponsors from the company would come out to the job site to 'urge' them to give. Think of a road construction crew laying asphalt on a highway. You have guys working big machinery, flagmen, traffic movers, etc... And you have a woman out there in high heels, sending you on a guilt trip to give to a non-profit.
