I think this is true. The investigations and threats of impeachment are more to score political points and try to win future elections than about really removing Trump from office.
I'm glad at least one democrat is willing to admit it.
Democrats are a bit conflicted on the issue right now. Trump has made clear so far that he is a failure as a leader of the political world and that he is actually a detriment to the republicans getting their agenda passed. If not for his control of the nuclear codes as CinC it might not be all THAT bad to see four years of Trump. And then he makes those comments supporting the neo-Nazis. I wouldn't go that far. But his comments were delayed and a bit... strange. It seemed like he didn't really grasp the situation, and it invited a whole bunch of controversy.
I just don't understand it. It wasn't that hard. All he had to do was go on camera on Saturday or Sunday, make a few prepared remarks denouncing the violence and white supremacists and go back to enjoying his weekend. He didn't even have to write his own speeches. Why create all this controversy over something that should be so simple?
Sometimes I think Trump just likes to troll the left and the media. It's unprofessional.

You don't seem to understand the extent of his psychological deficiencies, his malignant narcissism and what we'd call a conduct disorder in a child. He doesn't want to be told what to do and he is NEVER wrong... like someone said, he'd rather be called a racist than admit he might have been mistaken, or be managed.

So, the appointments Trump has made aren't doing anything? The positions still open have certainly put a lot of departments/areas into a holding pattern. Trump actually initiated quite a bit of change... if they don't do anything with the ACA - isn't that the same as killing it -- and causing a lot of suffering along the way? As for the Stock Market - I think it's still waiting for Trump to do something... no new taxes or no new regulations isn't enough... it wants/is waiting for TAX REFORM.... and that's not looking so likely to happen.... I think Trump and his appointees are destroying quite a few things in secret. Stuff Pence may have never even made part of his platform had he chosen to run pre-Trump. I'm not sure what the impact of the disappearance of the Dept of Ed might be, but I do know letting the EPA disappear or be gutted is a bad idea.
There's a bill to dismantle the EPA. Luckily it seems stalled for now, but its existence is worrisome by itself. www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/861/cosponsors
www.nytimes.com/2017/08/11/us/politics/scott-pruitt-epa.html?mcubz=1
His aides recently asked career employees to make major changes in a rule regulating water quality in the United States — without any records of the changes they were being ordered to make. And the E.P.A. under Mr. Pruitt has moved to curb certain public information, shutting down data collection of emissions from oil and gas companies, and taking down more than 1,900 agency webpages on topics like climate change, according to a tally by the Environmental Defense Fund, which did a Freedom of Information request on these terminated pages.
Mr. Pruitt had a reputation for being secretive before he ever came to the E.P.A.
While serving as Oklahoma’s attorney general, he came under criticism for maintaining at least three separate email accounts, including one private account that he at times used for state government business.
subsequent lawsuit resulted in the release of some of these other emails, which Mr. Pruitt had asserted did not exist.

It's over. That is why msm has moved on to a racist President stance. They will have better luck getting the coup done on this issue.

I think you are confusing reporting on an issue with what's actually happening. Trump's gatekeeper at Trump tower is on the investigation interview list last I read.

I don't think even those attempting impeachment want impeachment. I think they want to force republicans to defend. I think this is true. The investigations and threats of impeachment are more to score political points and try to win future elections than about really removing Trump from office.

One could say the same regarding the Republican controlled legislative branch when they impeached Clinton and tried to convict him for lying about a blow job.

May not be in the news, but Mr Mueller is still showing up to work everyday. Investigation hasn't stalled or stopped, it's just not the headline. Does Mr. Trump understand that? If it doesn't happen in The Truman Show, does it happen? I doubt it. He & his fan club don't grasp that & don't understand that evidence is for the trials, not for the media. They ask for proof proof proof. I'm content to wait until the investigation is done & then we'll see the proof.

The Republicans are not about to give you insurance that is better, cheaper and covers everyone, no matter what they said. They lied. They fundamentally do not believe in the concept of universal coverage. They do not believe in the social contract. They do not believe in fair or minimum wages. They believe it is up to you alone to educate yourself, insure yourself, etc., regardless of your circumstance. They do not believe government has a role in any of that stuff. That is fine and dandy. But they won't own up to it. Many of them DO think government should decide your reproductive issues, or whether you can marry the person of your choice. Many of them DO believe that government should mandate societal norms. Again, many will not even own up to that. I believe only trump made that statement about everyone covered, etc.

If there is supportive evidence, I hope articles of impeachment are promptly made. I'm not interested in pointless grandstanding.

Keep them distracted and in disarray. Maybe unprofessional from a certain viewpoint, but effective. They are so worried about what he's going to do or say next, that the Democrats come across as a vindictive, reactionary crowd with no message.

Think of the Russia investigation as Trump's Benghazi. It's not over yet. It's over. That is why msm has moved on to a racist President stance. They will have better luck getting the coup done on this issue. MSM has moved on to the Charlottesville mess because the president behaved in an unprecedented way, shocking both the dems and the GOP. Of course that's garnered most of the attention right now.
Firing Bannon will now move some of the attention over to focus on that event, and the fury of the TEA party conservatives who supported Trump because of Bannon.
That doesn't mean the Mueller investigation is dead in the water. It's ticking away, the lawyers busy tracking down lines of investigations and rounding up documents, seeing where each mouse hole leads.
Maybe, like the eleventy different Bengazi email hunts that took place, nothing will ever come of it. I think it's more likely there is actually something there, maybe not evidence of outright collusion with the Russians, but certainly evidence that Trump engaged in some creative business practices (which might be considered money laundering) with Russians.
At that point, we will have to decide if illegal financial dealings with our great national enemy prior to Trump taking office makes him unfit to continue to serve in that office.

Think of the Russia investigation as Trump's Benghazi. It's not over yet. I appreciate both your sarcasm and your gentle reminder to some on the right of the Benghazi dog and pony show. I am compelled to state the obvious however. Unlike the pointless Benghazi investigations, there actually is a trail to follow in this investigation. It is also likely that this investigation will result in at least some further embarrassment and political cost to the president, and maybe much more. Where there is smoke there is often fire........ kind of like the smoke and fire with Benghazi and E-Mails. (sorry... couldn't resist)
