It's the Mooch all over again without the cuss words! Steve Bannon's White House colleagues can't believe what they're reading tonight — and here's the twist: neither can Bannon. The White House chief strategist has told associates he never intended to do an "interview" with an editor at the American Prospect, a left-wing publication. Bannon has told associates that he admired the author's stance on China, and so called the journalist, Robert Kuttner, on Tuesday, to discuss his piece. Apparently Bannon never thought that the journalist might take his (very newsworthy) comments and turn them into a story. It's Anthony Scaramucci all over again (minus the curse words.) The result is not good for Bannon, who is already under pressure, with colleagues lined up against him and a president who agrees with him ideologically but tells associates he thinks Bannon is a leaker. Here's what one of Bannon's colleagues — somebody who's not an enemy of his — told me after reading the piece: "Since Steve apparently enjoys casually undermining U.S. national security, I'll put this in terms he'll understand: This is DEFCON 1-level bad." www.axios.com/bannons-colleagues-disturbed-by-interview-with-left-wing-publication-2473835346.htmlthe original "interview" prospect.org/article/steve-bannon-unrepentant

I don't think Trump will like him so much after that interview.
Bannon was already being accused of being a leaker. This will confirm it, as far as Trump goes, and being disloyal to the President is the very worst thing any of his aides can do.
I hope when he gets kicked out, they kick that weasel Miller to the curb with him.

I don't think he was unaware. He just positioned himself as the champion of the little guy in a rapidly crumbling administration. To a left wing publication.
He's aware.

I too believe he knew fully well what he was doing. He is one of the most media savvy person. Very much doubted he would 'unknowingly' talk to a left leaning media.

So Trump kicks him out and Bannon organizes his own populist party just in time for the 2020 election?
Interesting. You see how Mooch has played his 30 second of White House employment into being an outspoken media presence. Bannon, with his must longer time at the White House and all his Brietbart fan boys could easily position himself as the new and improved Trump, man of the people, without all the carnival barker side show.
You guys may be on to something.

I agree it was intentional. I was asking myself what his end goal was as I was reading both items.
I did not come up with an answer though.

Bannon is not the only person with ties to Breitbart (or other alt-right type origanizations) in places of 'power' within Trump's administration (Trump put most of them into those positions).
I did read that Bannon pretty much expected to be ousted within a year... I'm pretty sure once Priebus was ousted Bannon had to look for new office space to occupy (or maybe by then he had found a new hidey hole).
I, too, am wondering what his long game is...
I'm also pretty sure Trump was advised to keep the media tied up with the fallout from Charlottesville... as it provides a nice cover for the stuff that the government is actually doing...
Trump's been wearing his "I'm putting one over on you" face and using his "Ha! Ha! I'm just yanking your chain" voice again. The man has tells...

I did not come up with an answer though. I know it would be hard to believe, Maybe Robert Kuttner, is not being honest?
