Mine are all in the cloud, this is a lesson in upgrading with the times.
Back in the day my mom got pissed and launched my Nintendo out a 2nd story window onto the concrete driveway below. It still worked.

The kid seems to be over 18. If Dad has a problem with how he's living his life, he should have charged him rent, or kicked him out of the house. Destroying the kids property, and then using a mower as threat, weren't really the most mature responses.
This type of stuff may look "cool" but if my parent did something like this, it would probably deeply injure the relationship. It shows that the dad has absolutely no respect for his child, or his child's property.

It could also be that dad is just removing a problem that he paid for and didn't have the foresight to see the consequences down the road. Best for this kid learn early versus later, that life isn't fair. Sometimes tough love is needed versus enabling. Edit; Yes, I know people with offspring in their mid 30's who still live at home and never worked. Their babies aren't ready yet, to take on life's responsibilities.

Maybe they were gifts, or purchased with holiday/birthday money. I can only go one what was in the video. Kid said he spend hundreds on them.
There are countless ways to handle problems that don't involve running them over with a lawnmower. Maybe if dad had been paying attention, and parenting a bit more attentively to this point, it wouldn't have gotten to this point. Dad doesn't seem to be teaching his son much except how to act like an asshole.

if a stranger had done what the father did, the son could have them arrested for destruction of property.

I remember about 5 years ago a father shot kids laptop. Think he got a visit from authorities. Off to google since I remember a video hitting the net.

if a stranger had done what the father did, the son could have them arrested for destruction of property. That's because the stranger would not be part of the immediate family. If that same stranger crashed into their house with a car, he would be arrested for destruction of property also. If a stranger did anything to destroy that families property, they can be arrested for it. I have to ask. What is the point of stating that random property destruction by strangers and the possibility of being arrested for it, being applied here ?

It could be criminal activity, the details of it being a crime or not are not presented in the video. I'm only advocating a funny video. They're probably all actors.

My first thought was it is staged. Camera ready, action, shoot. Their 15 minutes of internet fame.

Forcing them to stay in their room would be "unlawful incarceration" if a stranger did it... what's your point? Parents have different rules that apply to them when the person that they are acting upon is their child.

For the record though, this was all staged. They make "kid meltdown" videos all the time.
After this one finishes, one of the ones that YouTube automatically cues up for play next is the same father and kid burying the games, with the kid having a similar "meltdown".
