And lo, what to my wondering eyes did appear in my FB feed but an event created by a local non-profit which was supposed to read "India House Flag Hoisting". Fortunately I know the director of the organization and texted him to suggest he buy an "L" for the event title. Meanwhile our local LGBTQ community came up with a lot of hysterically funny snark along the lines of, "how many Indians does it take to hoist a.........."

A year or so ago, someone shot off a gun at a mall in our city.
The headline on one of the biggest local news outlet's website was
"Shits fired at local area mall."
What killed me is it stayed like that for an hour.

My father once announced that he promoted one of his guys to be a manger.
We had a message board for our soccer team where people would do a little play by play for parents who couldn't be there. One kid had a shit on goal.

At the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum today my 12 year old spotted a misspelling in one of the display signs. Oops. Hard to believe he's the only one to spot it, but...

I still remember the time I handed my bossy lady a letter to sign. Below her signature was "Certified Pubic Accountant".

I handed out a multipage report in a work meeting to each of about 30 employees. On the upper left hand corner of each page was the word 'count'. Except I had misspelled the word by leaving out the letter 'o'.
I retrieved evey copy of the report before anyone noticed my spelling error.

Years ago I was listening to the radio in the kitchen while my mom was making lunch. The newscaster said "so and so got shot in the peter yesterday!" I think they meant to say penis or privates or something else but I started laughing and my mom dropped her knife and just looked at me. I always wondered what happened to that announcer.

When we were in school, we used to get "points" if we spotted published misspellings (in newspapers, books, magazines, etc). It really got us into looking for errors around that age.

I remember the time a newspaper wrote about the local football game. They wrote about the first 1/4 and the second 1/4 and 1/2 time show. QB scored 4 TD in the third 1/4. I had never seen this before and never sense.

Back in the summer of 2003, myself and a former co-worker from Connecticut were assigned to conduct a work-week-long internal EEO investigation at one of our D.C. offices. We scheduled the investigation activities for the mornings and sight seeing activities for afternoon and evenings. I had not been to D.C. since I was about 12 years old back in the early 60s. It was nice to see it again from an adult's eyes and perspective.

I had the unmediated gall to make him miss a week of Little League But he did admit that he enjoyed the trip well except for the Freer Museum - said he could see enough of Oriental stuff at home!!
I wish he would go back as an adult. Heck I would like to go back myself. One of my favorite trips among so many.

I'm a sucker for natural history so the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History was at the top on my list of places to go.

Each year the confirmation class would gather for a seder meal. During the meal, the story of Moses and the Exodus is retold. The students would each read a short portion of the story. One year, we redid the programs and I had a typo. It should have read "And God revealed himself at the burning bush" I left out the "a" so it said "reveled". Not a big mistake. Then the student stood and read this part but said, "And God relieved himself at the burning bush" Oops!

"Iteractive"
At the BEP this morning one of the signs said that safety is "Importan" to them.
The funny thing is that this is not my nerdy, detail oriented kid. God knows what that one would find.

Many years ago, we had a lead that had been disatisfied at the team's handling of some incident (IT field). So he sent out this email, copying several higher ups, talking about how we looked incontinent. What he meant, of course, was incompetent.
I laughed my ass off. Later, I saw him in the break room and offered him some Depends. When he looked confused, I told him about his error. He was shocked, and said "But I used spell check". Well, yeah, but spell check isn't going to help if you spell a completely different (and incorrect) word correctly.
Guy was a total douche anyway and later got fired for saying something out of turn.
