I hear ya, oped. My next act began this week, when I left fulltime employment. I am doing a variety of things, - freelance writing (which I have been doing for years), some volunteering and looking for a part time work gig or two. DH thinks I will be here to cater to him. Um, no...that is not how this works.
You have to find something you love to do so much, you would do it with or without pay. I am pursuing a certification I've always wanted, for example, so I can use it to go to work for myself. I am working out more. Getting more than five hours of sleep a night. I did not change my routines all that much in terms of wake up times and work out times and I do have a written schedule laid out on a whiteboard in my home office. I do not consider this slacker time, but more of a time to readjust and rethink the rest of my life, while still being a contributing member of society.

Well, if the teaching gig isn't at the top of the list...
When I'm not working, I tend to help DH with his work stuff. However, that doesn't pay with, yanno, money.
I'd want to work at a Bookstore.

This is timely... registration at my daughters' elementary school was yesterday from 2-4. I'm on the PTO board so was there at noon setting up tables to sell merchandise. I go up early to fill-out all the paperwork, hand it in along with my comcast bill as proof of residency and discover that's not good enough. I need gas, electric, water or mortgage/lease. Could I remember any of my online access stuff for any of those companies? Of course, not . I just got back into the office after taking an hour to run up to the school with my newly printed mortgage statement so I could get them enrolled. Next time, just say the kids are homeless. Federal law prevents denial of enrollment due to homelessness which includes sharing a home with another family or couch hopping. 😉 save ya a trip home.

What hobbies have you "not had time for"? What is your bucket list? What equipment do you have around the house that you bought with good intentions, but just never had time to use like you wanted?
I started quilting last year, and it's opened up a new social circle for me. Yes, they are all older (our oldest is going to be 101 in November!) but they are a great group, and so funny. I meet with them every Monday and Wednesday that I'm not working.
Photography is a fun, can do anywhere, hobby. As cheap or expensive as you want it to be.
Is there a need for before or after school child care in your area? Would you be willing to provide a few hours on one end or the other for families that could use it?
Pottery class-- I loved taking a ceramics class. Learned I was pretty good with the wheel and wish I was able to spend more time working on it. Even better if they do raku firing, the look is so pretty and shiny when done, and a bit of a mystery as to how it will turn out every time.
Could you organize your own fun classes through community ed? (Adult or kid classes) One of the guys in my photography club puts on photography classes. I was trying to get my son to go to an old-timey knife making class, but he wasn't interested (I probably would have gone if I wasn't working).
Become a master gardener or food preserver.
