I received mine today and was going to try half of the omelette for supper and save the other half for breakfast when I noticed they substituted the omelette for the chili. So I guess I will try one of the meals tomorrow.

I was going to stop for pizza on the way home. Instead, I decided that the penne with meatballs is pizza-like enough, so I came home to eat that. Saved myself about $10 in the process.

I am going to try the breakfast platter in the morning. I emailed them to see if they regularly do substitutions or if it was just a mistake.

Seriousthistime -- how many meals did you buy? Mine say to eat by Aug 7th. I was hoping I would have a little longer as I bought 6 and was only going to eat them for supper or half for supper half for lunch. I may try and freeze one just to see if it still tastes good after freezing.

I got six meals as well, with the same plan to eat half at dinner and save the other half for lunch. Last night I was hungry enough to eat the whole meal (penne with sausage). It was very good.
The website says you can freeze meals. I think it said to add one minute to the microwave cooking times. Mine expire on August 7th too. If you have any fish meals, I would eat those first. I didn't order any fish.
Did you get your meals ordered for next week? Otherwise they will send you the same six meals.
I also found several meals I could have selected for next week were already sold out. That tells me I should select the meals earlier in the week for the following week's delivery.

I am curious whether you will like the service because the customer reviews for Blue Apron and Hello Fresh mention delivery problems, *spoiled produce and meat, *poor customer service, and *difficulty canceling the service since both sites automatically sign customers up w/o notifying them (especially when you use a try me free coupon). * These are the most common complaints. As someone who loves to cook but hates to shop, there is no way I would risk food poisoning for this service.

Freshly is different. It is fully prepared meals, heat and serve.
I did Blue Apron for a while when I was thinking I didn't like the planning and shopping for food, but didn't mind the cooking. Then I realized I don't like any of it. I had some chicken go bad before the date stamped on the package (it arrived with a hole in the vacuum seal). I contacted Blue Apron (very easy to do) and they gave me full credit for that meal. I also had some produce spoil when I tried to use it long after I should have. It was very easy to cancel the service. As far as being automatically signed up after using a coupon or discount code, that's the way it works. Read the fine print. I never had delivery problems. I liked that there was often produce that I couldn't get locally.
All in all, I liked Blue Apron except for the cooking part. If you like cooking, you might want to give it a try. I would advise getting deliveries early in the week (Monday) instead of when I got them (Saturday) and if you order a fish meal, prepare that first. All the meat is vacuum sealed and date stamped.

I haven't ordered next week's yet. I have until tonight to do that which only gives me time to sample 2 of the meals. If I continue to receive them I NEED to make them last for lunch and supper because I desperately want to lose some weight.

One thing about any of the meal plans is that you get to try new foods that you may not have tried. From Freshly I ordered the Caribbean Chicken. I was a little hesitant after taking it out of the package because of the way it smelled because of the pineapple chutney and coconut rice. But it was actually very good. I will probably end up ordering it again. And of course the bonus was that I didn't have to prepare it.

Freshly doesn't deliver to my area yet, but if/when they do I would try it. I viewed some of their menu items and liked what I saw.

ilovedolphins, I had the steak with peppercorn sauce last night. It was great! How do they get the steak to microwave tender and juicy like that? Whenever I microwave already cooked steak, it's well done and not at all tender. The pork tenderloin was also perfect, tender and perfectly done with the slightest tinge of pink. I had to freeze a bunch of meals this week so at some point I'll get to see how the Freshly meals come out after they've been frozen. One perk to all this: I am definitely eating more vegetables.

I have tried meals that I haven't had before and I haven't found one that I didn't like. I froze a few of mine so I will see how they come out. I thought about doing the 12 meals and freezing half of each meal and then ordering every other week. I think it saves about $12 that way. I love not having to think about what I am going to make after work. If I am tired I just have a bowl of cereal but now I eat an actual meal---with vegetables.

And when they sent me turkey chili by mistake I thought great I don't like chili. Really I have never tried chili and so this forced me to try it and it was actually very good.
