I bought a new tv for the bedroom. The one in there sort of quit working toward the end of June. I say "sort of" because it would still come on . . . at random times likes the middle of the night or while I was gone to work. This was about the middle of my moaning and groaning about the income tax problem and then the therapy problem. My sister sent us a $200 Best Buy gift card. I felt terrible because I was only venting like I do here. Were any of you tempted to send me a gift card? I didn't think so! But we do send her $300 every year to help pay for her visit. Plus, we feed her, loan her a car, etc. But I keep telling her that helps us more than her because we'd have twice the airfare, have to rent a car, board the dog, and so on if we went out there. Plus, we aren't from her town, and she lived here most of her life. But I guess it was payback. Anyway, DH's health deteriorated, and I could never get to BB to get a tv. I finally did today. After her gift card, I paid $186. That's pretty cheap for a new tv (it's only for the bedroom, remember), but it's probably money I shouldn't be spending right now. But she kept asking when I was going to get one, so I did. And then I wrote her another thank-you note.

Kids again. Marching band hat (Not sure why the hell I'm getting hit with that now) and dance class for Carrot. Really annoyed at older son. That "marching band hat" was not for marching band it was just a baseball cap with the school name and says "Low Brass" on it with instruments embroidered on it. $25 for a baseball cap that he didn't even need and he probably will never even wear as he never wears baseball caps. So far I'm refusing to pay for any of it.

Clearance shopping today. I got a swimming vest for my oldest, but it's a little tight around the arms. He's starting to learn to swim, but it's going to take a long time, from what I can see. The lifejacket we got him previously isn't the best for swimming in. I don't know if we should keep the vest or not. Some new Skechers for him, too. He says his toes are touching the end. I'm afraid he'd be swimming in the next size up, though. Ugh, I just don't know! Should they stay or should they go (back)?

If it's just a pool I'd get him a pool noodle to hold onto instead.

He just learned to doggie paddle with a life vest on. We've gotten off to a slow start with swimming as he's been very anxious about water in his face.

Swim lessons around here either use a bubble, like below or a noodle. A bubble would be a little more versatile and probably cheaper? Just another idea

A butter mold from Amazon. I buy Amish rolled butter and it's really hard to cut it into sticks like the butter you buy at the store. The reviews were great and I can't wait to try this.

It looks like it would push their face down into the water, though. The swim class he had used a kickboard, but mostly the teacher was holding him/helping him. The purpose of this vest is so that I don't have to be in the water right beside him all of the time. I don't trust him in water over his head just holding onto a flotation device. He's not progressed enough for that yet. I got him this: www.amazon.com/Speedo-Printed-Neoprene-Sapphire-Medium/dp/B01JHJE7NA/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1502898532&sr=1-1&keywords=speedo+swim+vestand it was only $12.50. It's just the fit he doesn't like, but maybe it has to fit like that so it doesn't ride up on him in the water.

The bubbles at our swim place were not as large (a square about half the size of what is on that kid) and some had two "bubbles" parallel to each other. They don't seem to push kids down but I think they were often swimming in the first class with both a bubble and a noodle, and then would progress to noodle only. I'm not sure how lifejackets are supposed to fit but my guess would be that snug is good.

I bought a MacBook Pro for my sister, Apple had 0% Financing for 24 months so I jumped on it, now I have to keep my mouth closed for three months and not spoil her birthday surprise.

A lifetime park pass. $10 Mine cost me $20 because there is no nearby park where I could purchase it. It's still a bargain. If I only go once, I will break even since $20 will be the cost of a yearly park pass.

I wasted $12 on a charging cable for DS's phone. It wasn't until I ripped the package open in the van that I realized I grabbed a micro USB one instead of a firewire.

Return it and get your money back. I already tore it all out of the packaging. I can still use it because pretty much everything else we have is micro usb, but I didn't really NEED another one. Now we can plug 4 things in in the van at one time. Yay us.

But she kept asking when I was going to get one, so I did. And then I wrote her another thank-you note. Well, it turns out I didn't buy a tv. I finally showed up at BB amid Dh's hospitalizations to pick it up, and she asked the guy to bring up the 49" LG. WTF. While $299 has to be a phenomenal price, I don't need or want one that big. I don't think I could get it out of the car or up my stairs. I don't think I could put it up on the dresser. There would be no room for the components like the Directv box. DH was sort of excited when I told him, but it won't fit in the living room either because I have an entertainment armoire in there. 42" is its max. And I still have the same problems of getting it out of the car/up the stairs. He sort of forgot he is in the hospital. Maybe I will feel like trying again tomorrow. I'm tied to BB because of my sister's gift card. I actually would have bought one at Costco if I was just paying.

Now we can plug 4 things in in the van at one time. Yay us. Not returning it sort of depends on where you bought it. A lot of the plastic "clamshell" packaging makes it impossible for you to remove the item without destroying the package. In those cases, I have no compunction about returning it. But then I don't hesitate to return something that doesn't work. I'm careful about what I buy, though, since I know Walmart will destroy most food products that are returned, even unopened jars of dip. I don't know about cans.

OMG! One of the dangers of shopping online. Not noticing the quantity in the cart before check out. I am now the proud owner of 12 Primary Composition Notebooks, for a grand total of $34.

Will be Chinese food for dinner tonight.
DH and DD are out of town so I'm on my own for dinner. I love Chinese food but neither DH or DD...

I think I'm just going to donate them to the class. It's a charter school and I know the teachers buy a ton of stuff out of their own pockets and she's real young and just starting out. Last year she bought a bunch of things for DS and sent them home with him. Pencil grip aids and stuff like that.

Four days ago now, but I wasted money on a car...
It's shiny and pretty and I like it, but it's a very bittersweet feeling because I miss my old rustbucket and not having payments. *sigh*
At least I didn't have to waste money on a plumber. After a week, I finally have all my drains working again.

Groceries for $70 and a bag of dog food for $61. Dog eats kidney prescription, so gotta pick it up at the vet.
Looks like I have also bought tickets to the Doobies and Eagles next month. Need to send my friend a check.
