so do I Tennesseer, but then again I am not selling glasses for a quarter to have a little extra spending money. I hope he was able to find a buyer that paid him that kind of money.

The only time when I got dust in both my eyes which made them tear up was when an old man brought in a large glass mug with a beer advertisement on it. The old man had probably been pinching pennies for years and his eyes welled up when he found out his mug was worth about $2,500. Probably the first time in years he had a little extra money if he sold it. Nice to see his item was worth something. I remember that one! He had had that thing out in a yardsale and had a $0.25 or $0.50 sticker on it but it hadn't sold. It was dusty here in California too when I saw that show. Must have been the result of the dust bowl glass Here's another find bought at a flea market. Thought it was cheap costume jewelry. Was on the national news this morning. $15 'costume jewelry' ring turns out to be 26.27-carat white diamond worth over $450K

However, no problem with dust over here today

Guess who got on camera! It was with an appraiser named Eric Silver.
So now it's fingers-crossed that my segment doesn't get left on the cutting room floor

Tennesseer Jaguar toomuchreality HOT DAMN! I signed my life away promising not to reveal any details before the segment airs. All they could tell me is that the Portland Roadshow for 2018 will be 3 hours (3 shows total) and that they will pick 35 segments to air (that's about 12 per night).
We got there *right* at 8 am (the appraiser said, "It's early, but this might be your lucky day"), and by the time we left (about 3 hours later) they had already filmed about 10 or 12 segments - including ours. And the line out the door was veeeeeeerrrrrry long . . . no chance at guessing what else might have come in the door that they might ultimately find more TV worthy.
But fingers-crossed anyway! If you watch next year and happen to see an older middle-age woman (I'm not a senior just yet!) with light brown/sorta blond-ish hair and a white shirt talking to Eric Silver about two of her grandfather's sculptures - that's me

Make sure to either update this thread or start a new one telling us when the show will air and what to look for so we can check to see we see you. Good luck! I didn't get filmed and all my stuff wasn't worth much.

I promise to come back here when the new season starts and remind everyone, but I'm not going to get any advanced notification from AR. Just like the general viewing public, I too will have to watch all three nights of Antiques Roadshow Portland to find out if my segment 'made it.'
The new season start in January of 2018. *If* I get on, again it will be one of the three Portland shows.
AND - different PBS's around the country run their shows on different days, so I can't even say which week (or night/s of the week) the Portland shows will run in anyone's area but my own.

Woo-Hoo! I think I can watch it on Xfinity On-Demand after it airs, so if ANYONE sees or hears about it being on, PLEASE POST! (I'll be looking for a cute kitten saver wearing dark glasses!) Thanks for the heads up!

Congrats for getting on the show! Very exciting! We randomly catch the show. I always like when the piece is worth so much more than they expect. My DH and I always kid around "what will you give me now?"

Yes if my segment gets cut, I'll post photos of the artwork and tell you their appraised value . I just can't do it beforehand!

I always wonder what people do with the item they brought is appraised high and they and the item were shown on TV More than likely, highly appraised jewelry goes into a bank vault. But how about displayable items-do they still have them out and about their home? I would think the item and owner's home become a possible target for thieves. Some stuff probably goes right to auction.

Some stuff probably goes right to auction. We'll [my family] be keeping the pieces I brought. He (the appraiser) was right that although the work is *beautiful* it is a style (neoclassicism) that has for the most part gone out of fashion [until it comes around again, lol].
He said to me on the air, "I'm sorry to have to tell you that these pieces aren't worth much," and then proceeded to give me figures that were *significantly* higher than I thought they would be. It was a very nice surprise.
But they ain't goin' nowhere. And I don't live in a high falutin' enough neighborhood that thieves (even if they *could* break in) would be interested in stealing artwork. Besides, its now recorded and insured . . . .

Okay kids, I got a *little* more info:
My local station (PBS SoCal) is running the three Portland shows in April. Specifically:
Hour 1 on April 2
Hour 2 on April 9
Hour 3 on April 16
You will need to check your own local listings to see when your PBS will run them.
I still also don't know *if* I made the cut, and if I did, which Hour it will be. I'll be watching and will find out at exactly the same time as you .

Also - weltschmerz - the lottery for tickets for the 2018 shows is now open and will be open until I think early February. Hop online to their website if you want to try and get tickets for an appraisal of your Chinese box. We put our names in again, for the San Diego location

You, you are the one who got an item appraised and you are the one that might be on TV. To answer your question: YES! It gave us a short vacation, and I finally got some answers I was seeking.
I'll do it again with other art pieces if I can! We've already put our names in for the upcoming lottery . . .
