caution one: quite profane caution two: from a source as reliable as any Paul/cadre uses Dear President Fuckwad,
If you’ve read this far, you know that I believe you’re a truly historic moron who’s mistep-a-minute, goofball presidency would be phenomenally funny if it wasn’t so spectacularly dangerous.
Surrounding yourself with a gaggle of ass-kissing flunkies (yes, I admit I was one) doesn’t make you seem more authoritative or powerful, it just proves you’re a sniveling weakling, an insecure man-child, and an unstable ignoramus with zero ability to lead. ....... extranewsfeed.com/sean-spicers-ruthless-resignation-letter-ae6f8014001b#.32wgcow3fhave a great week, everyone. i am off to Austin, TX. 1. Post is profane. 2. Post is a thinly veiled personal attack not only on me, but on a "cadre of uses" 3. Post is demonstrably completely false. 4. SXSW has not been good since 1992 which is why I no longer bother. 5. Post is an end run around my "BUT THE SOURCE!" rule. In implying my sources are not reliable by comparing them to the obviously unreliable source here, poster avoids the responsibility of a specific, documented case where something I posted was not true, which I will remind the poster is not an argument. OBEY MY RULES. Your "BUT THE SOURCE" rule is yours. Nobody is actually subject to it. You DO get that? Right? Post is within the CoC as far as I can tell, but the moderators are the referees. I assume you reported it. If so, I guess we'll see.

Not on you nor on a "cadre of uses" whatever that is. It isn't about you, you know?

3. Post is demonstrably completely false.
I went back and reread it. Even funnier this time. Very often, the very thing that makes something humorous is the truth of it.... Actually I could not find a demonstrably false statement in it.

"false" in spite of the fact that it's OBVIOUS satire. Include a disclaimer just as DJ did here, even if the satire is obvious. Otherwise determining what is and isn't "obvious" satire is up to the discretion of the mod, and (surprisingly enough) judgments tend to fall on the side of nuking material the mod doesn't like. Also: while DJ's "from a source as reliable as any Paul/cadre uses" is a spurious attack on your choice of sources, it's not a personal attack. You've made it clear enough over the years that you consider most of his go-to sources to be crap (if not outright subversive), so my heart doesn't bleed for you on this one.

Virgil has been turning to the dark side lately, siding with the democrats. I wonder who got to him I'm not on either side. It's no secret I'm the most permissive mod when it comes to letting posts stand. More recently some posters have been getting bold with taking pot shots (popping into a thread to lob insults and score cheap points) and I'm getting to be less permissive in that area, but my deletions registry for the past 7 years is a whopping 1.5 pages long. When it comes to edge cases like "My sources aren't all garbage like Joe Blow's." or "Oops I pulled a Joe and posted a garbage article.", I judge posters according to their own standards. To pick on DJ as an example (sorry DJ), seeing as he's gone out of his way in the OP to mock Paul's sources, he gets a big fat shrug from me if e.g. somebody accuses him of smearing the board with Democratic propaganda in future. If he can dish it out, he can take it. I apply the same standard to conservatives. If you go on record trashing X, Y, and Z sources, calling them honeypots for America-haters or outlets for braindead Democratic propagandists, etc., don't expect me to intervene when posters go out of their way to mock your sources. My advice to both sides is to never underestimate the offensiveness of material you post if you're bothered by offensive material. Consider the piece in the OP as an example. I know perfectly well there are members in this thread who'd see red at any article starting with "Dear F-wad" pertaining to a personality they respected, whether it was satirical or not. I know there are members who'd decry it as divisive garbage widening the gap between left and right. Hence here's a novel idea: if you want online dialogues less cluttered by hit pieces starting with "Dear Pres. Obama, you Communist Muslim F-wad" that literally devote a paragraph to listing slurs for the man, don't praise or excuse the "satire" in the OP. The people you're hoping to reconcile with just might not consider it harmless fun.

I may be wrong, but... isn't "Dear President Fuckwad" somewhat against the following rule?

I may be wrong, but... isn't " Dear President Fuckwad" somewhat against the following rule? In this case, I don't think our rules apply. Dj didn't post that appellation. The way the satire is presented on the source site, Spicer addressed his letter in exactly that manner and Spicer (nor, the satirist) isn't subject to our rules. What dj posted is, in this case, a satirical article citing a letter purportedly written by Spicer not a post created by a member on this board. That's how I see it and I don't think we'll see this occur often, if ever again. We'll have to wait to see how moonbeam sees it. If she finds it needs to go, I'll remove it. mmhmm, Politics Moderator

The part in question was not originally written by a member of this forum. Therefore, our CoC can't reasonably be applied. edit to add: this is still being discussed, however, as we know that some members will use it to say what they want to but can't because it's not allowed per our CoC. AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP- in regards to "OBEY MY RULES", I'd like to remind you that you don't get to have rules that you can enforce on others. You may absolutely have your own for yourself but you will NOT be telling others what they can and can't do in regards to posting.

Why don't you hold your fire until this is resolved there Big Shooter? This is being moderated right now, and a decision will be forthcoming. In the meantime, mmhmm has tried to address the complaint made by the poster in the interim, which she did not have to do. Or will you use this "quote" out of context and twist it to suit any future arguments? Tell me you wouldn't stoop to such "fake" news. You guys are great- keep digging in. Make the case for me. Anything you say can and will be used...you know the drill.

I'd like to remind you that I get to have any rules I please, and I have absolute power to enforce them. That is unless you plan to come to my house, put a gun to my head and make me participate in a discussion against my will with a violator. Anyone CAN do anything. But there are consequences. You're really struggling with this concept aren't you. It's that liberal impulse to deny power to others, isn't it? You just cannot stand that I have the power to choose. You have zero control over MY rules which I can make, and will enforce.

Well, that is certainly one explanation for the current political environment- I just think you're greatly confused about how it's playing out. I'm having a grand time. And to paraphrase a Democrat, I ain't no ways tired of winning.

3. Post is demonstrably completely false. I went back and reread it. Even funnier this time. Very often, the very thing that makes something humorous is the truth of it.... Actually I could not find a demonstrably false statement in it. Oh, yeah- sure. Unless I post something hilarious. Then it gets moved on a technicality. "false" in spite of the fact that it's OBVIOUS satire. It hasn't happened yet.

Yes, it's vulgar. But, it's STILL awesome. and spot on, right? it would be nice if one of the spineless juveniles inhabiting the WH would write that letter. but, alas, we live in a New Age.

Oh lighten up, Virgil. It is (although quite vulgar) incredibly witty satire. Political satire is an American tradition. I'm sure Canadians enjoy political satire, don't they? Satire is subtle. This piece is a crude polemic that happens to use a lot of sarcasm. As for "lightening up", hold yourself to the same standard I'm asking of DJ: if you want fewer "What Liberals Really Think" hit pieces on YMAM, don't post this kind of article; if you want the same number of hit pieces, accompanied by suggestions to "lighten up", carry on. Simple math. Settle your priorities. Choose which you value more: building bridges or lampooning the enemy. i consider those priorities equal. let's start by seeing if you are CAPABLE of laughing at something that is overtly funny. edit: Virgil, i want to take a moment to thank you for post #38. that was very even-handed.
