It shouldn't be so difficult. I dread selling this house. If I stay healthy enough, maybe I can die here many years from now and my executor nephew will have to sell it.

Checking in since things have mellowed out emotionally, LOL. I visited a few vintage shops today and scored an antique drop leaf table for the built in kitchen banquette (our rather large kitchen table and chairs will fit nicely downstairs in the lounge/family room to use as a game table), a medium-sized, refurbished cabinet to use as a linen closet in the downstairs lounge/guest bathroom, and a cute red 2-tiered table, which will go well in the guest room. (I bought the latter for $88-similar items go for $380+ retail). I also bought two different wine racks, an antique Chinese tea set, a wooden ladder to use as a towel rack or small rug holder, and an ice bucket globe from Italy. I also bought a really cool looking tackle box from the 50's...? for DH's birthday next month. It's wooden with a leather handle and full of old school fishing tackle. DH loves that kind of stuff. The globe, available on ebay for $45, I bought for $10: Italian olde world globe ice bucketAdded: I bought the mahogany drop leaf table for $85, and just saw it on ebay for $275!!!

Nope. I'm tomorrow. They came up with something else this afternoon that'll cost me a few hundred bucks but they've condescended to take my personal check for it. It's almost over. Walk through at 11. Closing at 11:30. God willing.

That happened when I closed on this house. It was $29 and they agreed to personal check. About a month after closing, I received a refund of around $300 so they still didn't get it right.
Hope the closing goes well.

Thank you for asking, empress of self-improvement! We closed yesterday and it took nearly 2 hours. We signed a stack, and the processor left the room to approve funding. We signed another stack and apparently the something-something didn't reflect joint tenants, so another employee had to email back and forth with someone else. Um, duh? Yes, DH and I will be living together? Our loan processor, who was sitting to my left, said it did say joint at one point. The sellers were really nice: Mr. Seller (a good ol' boy from Texas...?) to Mr. Iggy: Do you hunt, Mr. Iggy? Mr. Iggy: Yep. (Mr. Seller nods in approval) The home sits on just over 40 acres and takes 15 minutes of mesa driving from my office to get to. There is wildlife, views for miles, and ATV access to BLM and Forest lands. At 6,300-ish feet, if I get snowed in, I'll work from home. My father was in town on business, so he got to see it last night. He said, "This is like the place where you two go on the weekends." Exactly! The sellers have apparently been going through the sell/buy situation for about a year. The entire room busted up when I told everyone about my book idea: Buying a Home: The American Dream My A$$. Last night was our last night in the hotel. We'll bring our camper up to the new place this evening, and the movers come this Saturday. Here's to sleeping in our own bed. Would I do it again? Still nope. Will it be worth it? Yep.

Hope the closing goes well. Us, too. We cut a personal check for $200 to buy a second cistern tank from them. (It was $300, but they agreed to go halves on an undisclosed HOA transfer fee.)

Congrats Iggy aka IG! After you've moved in, and have some time to catch your breath, it'd be cool if you could post a picture of the view.

I picked out new countertops. Because I'm getting a new sink I need new countertops. Sweating outside and narrowed it down to 6 different ones. The fabricator just called and suggested I narrow it down to 1. Meanie!!
