So much this, I never want to own again. I'm wishing my life away, but I can't wait until DS and DD have taken flight and I can down size to about 500-600 sq ft place.

Which is why I'm putting a lot of money into the plumbing and making the bathroom more accessible if I have issues later in life.

First shower in our new house this morning. The master bath has a separate jetted tub and shower, and the shower has a tile surround and rain shower head. The bathroom itself has 3 times the storage as our prior home. And unlike our former master bathroom, it has a window... the view is fantastic!

$2500 in electrical. $14,000 in plumbing which does include a new bathroom, No quotes yet for painting or landscaping. The best deal is $200 for roof repair.

Never again. This is my dying house. That is what I said, and then DS2 picked up his family and moved to Europe. What can I say, never say never... Totally agree. When DH and I married 13 years ago, I would have never thought that we would have moved 5 times (some of the moves were temporary housing).

Iggy - I've been following your moving adventure as I'm just about a week behind you. Wondering if you have any tips for cleaning a jetted tub. I've never had one before

The nice thing about being so close to new place is that I don't have to sit in the house all day waiting on people. They all give a 30 minute window and I'm here in 5.

Hiya, azucena! Good to see you here. My disclaimer is I am absolutely not a house cleaning expert, LOL. I can organize things until blue in the face, but cleaning? Meh. What I would do is double check the tub material to ensure you don't scratch it with whatever you clean it with. (We had a jetted tub in our previous home.) I have the best luck with a baking soda-vinegar mix (google for more info), let it soak, then wipe with a Mr. Clean magic eraser. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser OriginalI also found an old toothbrush helps with the jet openings and suction cover. Good luck with your closing!

We use a Jacuzzi product called Systems Clean. I think DH buys it on Amazon.

My kitchen and master bath countertops are less than 2k installed. My favorite granite was the cheapest!! You pay more for some things and less for others. I feel my garage door opener was high but it's balanced by my granite and paint. The last big money suck will be the landscaping. Window treatments are next. Some are okay but some are just awful as well as broken.

Omg. The electrician called me while I was watching Finding Neverland. Wanted to know why he couldn't get in. Um, because you weren't to come back until tomorrow at 9 am. Did he think I slept in an empty house just waiting in case he was going to show up a day early? Sigh.

Painting labor 1200 paint 845 I don't know how much you are painting, but we paid about $1200 just to paint our sunroom. And I provided the paint. He did do some extras like replace rotten wood, but it was expensive. If that is multiple rooms, it sounds good.

I bought the paint. $845 but I bought over 16 gallons of paint and I bought the best quality. It's 3 bedrooms 1 bathroom LR DR FR and kitchen. So 7 plus rooms and a front door and the cement steps going up to it.

So 7 plus rooms and a front door and the cement steps going up to it. Not bad then. I also bought the best quality when I had my sunroom painted. I keep reminding myself he did a lot of extra stuff. He installed an a/c window unit that my husband bought, replaced broken glass in that window (I paid for the new glass), and built the side casings to hold the unit. He also painted outside when he installed it. But painting is expensive. It sounds like you got a good deal.

The only real cosmetic changes are the bathrooms. I could take a picture of my new water heater but I doubt anyone would be thrilled. I'll do the kitchen too.

The fun really starts Monday. Unfortunately most of the money and work won't be visible or add any value. But it needed to be done. They added a pool instead of boring things like electrical and plumbing. 😊

I'm going to just keep a tally with my credit card and check book of what I'm spending. Bought tile for gutted bathroom yesterday and found really cool stuff being discontinued and because it's a small bathroom there's enough! Came to $1074 including tax and grout. I still have to buy backer board and thresholds and it doesn't include labor yet but the tile guy gave me a good price for both bathrooms including tile so if I like less expensive tile, it'll be less than he wuoted me and I was already pleased. I don't think pictures I will take when finished will show the wave in the white tile but it's very cool. Need to get going. Hugely busy day again. But then it'll calm down to regular busy.
