I'm assuming the train of thought is:
I'm a dude.
Dudes don't get pregnant.
I shouldn't have to pay for pregnancy things.
Apparently he doesn't get that society has an interest in healthy babies that one day will be wiping his ass and paying for his social security. And that insurance is about pooled risk spread over many people.
More of the "I've got mine, fuck you" train of thought.

I thought the phrase "who knew healthcare could be so complicated" was bad. This is right up there.

Would you prefer the ones who claim that poor people really don't want health care? Or who wonder why we don't tax the sun?

Go figure that he's also for defunding Planned Parenthood. So, men can get the women pregnant, but lets not help out with prenatal care or allow them to get an abortion. Dumbass.

Well, since the woman is the host of the baby, she's supposed to 100% make sure she doesn't get pregnant.
DUH.
Men have no personal responsibility when it comes to creating babies.
DUH.

Then I don't want my insurance paying for testicular cancer treatments, prostate screenings, Low-T therapy or boner pills. If men get to save money on insurance by not having plans including services for women then I want the same opportunity.

the posts by giramomma and minnesotapaintlady have been the prevailing thought for a long time... and unfortunately that thought is shared by a lot of women as well.

If pregnancy is God's plan, so is erectile dysfunction.

Then I don't want my insurance paying for prostate screenings Didn't think they had to. My doctor slips me a tenner before every prostate screening. Come to think of it, I'm not sure he's a real doctor. Do doctors typically wear tight leather pants?

And then it's only for procreation. And her husband will, of course, have a really good job so he can pay out of pocket for prenatal care.
The rest of them are a bunch of immoral whores who have no business having prenatal coverage.

I had lunch today with my uber conservative mom. I brought this issue up - and honestly she had NO IDEA that healthcare plans weren't always including maternity coverage until Obamacare mandated it. Well, they always did back when I had you guys! was her response. Well, in that 25 years since you had your last baby, a LOT changed. Pre-existing condition exclusions means my sister that had cancer as a child can't get coverage on her own. Mom said it was fine because sis has a good job. Um, what if she gets laid off? What about my nieces & nephews born 3 months early and spent about $1M on EACH for healthcare for the first year of their lives? No more coverage for them if the lifetime cap is put back in place. She kept insisting that the Republicans really weren't going to get rid of those three things, it was just the other "bad" stuff from Obamacare.

and another WTF moment:
www.yahoo.com/news/house-republicans-let-employers-demand-100034946.html
"A little-noticed bill moving through Congress would allow companies to require employees to undergo genetic testing or risk paying a penalty of thousands of dollars, and would let employers see that genetic and other health information.
Giving employers such power is now prohibited by legislation including the 2008 genetic privacy and nondiscrimination law known as GINA. The new bill gets around that landmark law by stating explicitly that GINA and other protections do not apply when genetic tests are part of a “workplace wellness” program.
The bill was approved by a House committee on Wednesday, with all 22 Republicans supporting it and all 17 Democrats opposed. ..."

I swear, Trump/the Repubs have pulled the wool over everyone's eyes - ESPECIALLY their supporters. Most of them don't realize that THEY will be the ones negatively affected by these changes. These guys said the right combination of words and tugged the right strings and led the lower class middle American sheep directly to the slaughterhouse. Not saying your family is dumb Sam_2.0, just making a larger point.

I had to refrain from being mean about it I told mom she had to read something other than Fox news. She said the others were too "liberal". So I broke it down for her on what this will cost my family directly. She asked why I couldn't quit to finally be a SAHM once this baby is born. Well, because DH would have to make an extra $35,000 before taxes to cover our insurance premiums and deductible for the same plan I have now through work ($20,000k in premiums + $6k deductible/$10k OOP). And that's just health insurance. She couldn't believe it actually costs that much. But she's been a SAHM since I was 3 and my dad has always had fabulous insurance from his employer, and he's remained steadily employed by them since before I was born. She just doesn't understand how rare that is and that everyone doesn't have that same option available.

She said the others were too "liberal". for a while I was getting my news from Reuters because it was IMO the most neutral. Or I had to read Fox News and CNN/MSNBC to try and figure out the real story through the various spins. Actually, I had to stop following the news/politics because it doesn't help when I am already in a bad head space.

I saw this earlier on google news. I'm rarely left speechless and didn't think I could be surprised at anything but this just blew my mind. Eta it may have been on MSN page and went into more of the judges comments. Made me want to throw up.

We don't have to go to Canada for that gem. Now this is a few years back (2012) but still hardly in the stone age:
"Foster Friess, a prominent backer of Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, raised eyebrows Thursday when he offered up his own idea for a possible contraceptive method: "This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it's so... inexpensive. Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives."
Friess's implication is that if women hold aspirin between their legs, they won't open them.
"The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn't that costly," he told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell."

I never understood that putting between the knees thing. You just bend over a bit and there's access. How do they think women are built?

I have to avoid the news nowadays myself. Fuck, I even say to myself to calm myself down from WE PERSONALLY ARE TOTALLY SCREWED mode "We have a bunch of money, we will probably be OK." and then I feel both super gross AND not OK.

It's no surprise = women have 100% responsibility for the usage of their vagina and uterus but 0% Authority over how or who uses them.
I can't think of a single guy who would accept such terms for anything - to be responsible for something but have no authority to go with the responsibility - they aren't that stupid - but they expect women to accept it as 'normal' and 'acceptable'.
It's an age old tradition from Biblical times...
