Our 1 year olds are wrestling in the living room. Everyone's housebound because of the weather. It's -20 C which wouldn't be so bad but the windchill makes it -29 C. We've had a warm (for us) winter so far so no one has a thick enough undercoat for real winter. Might be housebound all week because the highest expected high all week is -23 C on Thursday. DH can't walk the dogs during the day right now and if the cloudless forecast holds, the temperature will drop pretty quick in the evenings when I would normally walk the dogs.

I'm not sure how much longer I can let her lay here. my ankles are crossed right on the bone and my left foot is going numb. 🤣

she got overheated and moved, and then got pissed off that I wouldn't share my soup after that. she's been in the bay window since then. 🤷♀️ I'll snuggle tonight. she's been jumping up on my bed before I get there. that's new since the mooch moved out. she used to stay in the living room all night, unless he brought the girl home.

Wish me luck. I'm taking the dogs for their first walk since Jan 9/20. We'll see how long I have 5 dogs and how long it takes to get them all back. Here's hoping we don't cross the local Moose's path.

Well that didn't go too bad. Only had 2 go totally AWOL and only for about 15 minutes. Everybody is home fine.

Macy had me a bit worried yesterday. She kept gagging. She never threw up to my knowledge. Just kept gagging. We were up and down a lot last night. When she was sleeping the gagging stopped. She was eating normally and was not lethargic at all. She was harassing the boys (Jack and Astro) like normal. It was so weird. Anyone ever have that happen? She didn't get into the trash. She didn't leave the backyard at all, so I don't think she picked up anything too crazy outside.

We took advantage of a rare sunny day to go to the dog park yesterday. The dog park had flooded.

Since I've been ill, my dog buddy's mom has been bringing her over to run in my yard instead of taking her on her regular walk a couple of days a week. It cheers me up, and my buddy still gets her exercise. She races in all directions, circumnavigating the house and the neighbor's house, chasing things only she sees. She's so wound up it's hard to get her to sit still to be petted unless there's a cookie involved (I always have cookies for her!).
Yesterday she was particularly hilarious. My front yard slopes away from the house, and she loves to lie on her back, head downhill, and squirm, wiggle, and twist her way downhill on her back like some kind of weird snake. When she got bored doing that, she found some long sticks on the lawn from a recent windstorm and settled down to chew on them. She was lying on the stick she was chewing, and it was long enough to curve around behind her. She shifted and twisted the stick, which turned up and poked her in the butt. She shot up off the ground like she'd been stung by a scorpion and glared at the ground behind her as if daring whatever it was that had poked her to show itself. It was hilarious. I'm laughing now thinking about it. She's a hoot. Then she pranced back and forth in front of the neighbor's front window taunting her dog friend that she was outside and he wasn't. Sometimes she's a little stinker.

Probably not going to pass the service dog exam. I laughed way too hard at this, especially when the dog ran off with the walker. That's something my dog buddy might do. She loves tennis balls.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. For the record...if you don’t know opossums, they’re good at playing “dead”. Ted chased him down to the creek, where he pretended to be dead, and Ted picked him up and brought him on the porch. My dogs are trained to carry thing gently in their mouths (called soft mouth) so they don’t destroy game that they’ve retrieved. I picked up the opossum with the snow shovel and tossed him in the weeds. He got up and walked away about 5 minutes later. This is the long way of saying “no opossums were harmed in this photo” 🙂

The Getty museum is asking people to post photos of their art using household things on twitter. There are a lot of hilarious picture, but I think this is the winner

Ted turns 3 today, so I thought I should post a photo. This one isn’t real recent, but since it’s cold and rainy today, it’s the best I’ve got.
