I think I forgot to give the twins their heartworm pills. I habe to count pills when I get home. They just had their heartworm tests today so I know they're negative.

Ugh. My friend is having to rehome her dog. She charged the neighbor and attacked his dog. She doesn't have a fence and can't keep her contained. She's tried electric fences, but they don't work. She needs somewhere with acreage where she can roam. Thing is, she's a very sweet dog. She just becomes a different dog when out of their yard according to the neighbor.

I saw a picture on the website for the shelter I got them from of another dog from that litter. You'd swear it was Macy! She's identical! They have strong genes or something. There were 7 dogs in that litter and 5 of them look like the twins.

so I had a friend come in this morning to set up a cable modem/router setup. he's a big guy, 6'6 and easily over 300lbs, just a really big guy. he also has a beard, which I know is a trigger for LD to be freaked out. he was actually shaking, visibly. poor guy. so we ended up going out back and letting my friend throw LD's beloved tire to kind of smooth things over. we were all eventually okay, the golden was in love within minutes of meeting Big M. I just can't get past how shaken LD was.

I've just bought a 5m horse lunge line to exercise the collie pup. His training is going well and we had really good recall.........but........he has the concentration of a gnat and if there is something more interesting in his vision.....he bolts for it. I have had some worried looking dog walkers this weekend... with a manic pup charging towards them... and me yelling "he doesn't bite, he is just a stupid puppy" It can't go on......so he is on the rein until he can be trusted.

Mine are escape artists and I've run down the street yelling "he doesn't bite" more than I'd like. Jackson is a very big boy and he's just so sweet. But I can see how a stranger would be terrified if he was running towards them. I've decided that if he snaps one more tie out that I'm chaining him up like a junkyard dog when he's outside. He's broken the clips on his collars too.

Sabah was able to break her collars and escape. We had to chase her around the neighborhood more than once. We ended up getting a chain collar and getting a leash that was anchored into the ground. She took off and ended up doing a back flip as the chain snapped. Look on her face was priceless.

I would post a picture, but I was using photobucket.... Anyway, about a month ago, the puppy decided to chomp on a bee This happened at about 6:45pm on a Sunday evening - I saw her out in the yard walking around and making funny movements with her mouth. I thought maybe she ate something that didn't taste so good (basically what happened), so I didn't think much of it. 15 minutes later I let her inside and didn't notice anything usual. Then another 30 minutes went by before I walked past her and couldn't believe how swollen her lower lip was . At this point, a good hour had probably passed since she was stung...so I grabbed a piece of ham and put a couple Benadryl in it and gave it to her. She didn't seem to be having any other problems, and for the most part was still acting normal - although a day or two earlier we had started treating her for a yeast infection in one ear, so I think she just wanted to go to bed and be done with the day! I figured that since so much time had passed, and the fact that she was still alive, and it would be another 30 minutes to an hour before we could get her to emergency, that there was no point in going. I kept an eye on her the rest of the night, and by bedtime the swelling had gone down some, and looked better in the morning...and by lunchtime it was almost back to normal. Not sure if she learned her lesson though....

That's crazy. One of mine wouldn't have learned a lesson. Especially Jackson.

I felt bad last night. I was busy doing 20 things at once and forgot about Charlotte outside. Then it started to downpour. We heard "bang bang bang!" and I looked over to see Charlotte wasn't on the couch. Boy did she give me a dirty look after DH let her inside.

A little later I heard him wanting back in. Dummy here, in a sleepy daze, opens the door to accommodate him. Now, he flies past me, through the sitting room , through the kitchen, through the dining room, down the hall into our bedroom and jumps into bed with my wife about the time my sensory system starts to function and I realize the dog has just had a close encounter of the "Fourth" kind....I manage to yell "SKUNK"!!! about the same time as my wife hits the ceiling violating every rule in the world about 4 letter words.......At that point what else could one do but....let the tomato baths begin........

Before it slips past me, a quick heads up. Today is National Dog Day! Get them something they like! Spend some time with them! And, just for the heck of it, here are a couple bits of dog trivia. First, the name of the dog on a box of Cracker Jack is.....Bingo. Second, The Beatles song "Martha, My Dear" was written by Paul Mc Cartney about his sheepdog "Martha." And finally, did you know a canines nose is one million times more efficient at a human nose?

One of my dogs has a thing for porcupines, you would think he would learn, but no, he like to charge right in a try to catch them, then gets made when he gets poked, which makes him want to bite them more...
The stupid dog will run over to me, lay down on his back with his mouth open and wait for me to take all the quills out. Once I'm done, he tries to go right back for more..,

So the twins are going to the vet tomorrow. Who wants to guess how big they are? We got Macy in March and she was 55 pounds and a little skinny. She's a bit thick now. Around the same time Jackson was 75 pounds and has filled out a bit. I think I'm going to call Macy around 70 pounds and Jackson about 90. I'll send moon some pics to post so you can make an educated guess. Have they figured out "what" the vet is yet? Ours always tended to have a "panic attack" as soon as you turned into the vet's parking lot. Otherwise they were always happy campers cause the same road went to the lake..... Big Boy LOVES going to the vet! Actually, he LOVES going anywhere that includes getting into a vehicle. Our vet's office always spoils him when they see him. They give him treats and lots of pets, so he enjoys his trip. It's hard to get him out the door to leave because he wants to "meet" everyone in the building.

Magic formula for removing skunk smell.... One third liquid soap (hand soap or shampoo or even dish soap) One third baking soda One third hydrogen peroxide. Shampoo in and leave for as long as possible before rinsing. I used to run a pit bull rescue. They were the BEST dogs. So eager to please and be good...except when it came to skunks. Then all bets were off. Would. Not. Learn.

I told Thing 2 not to leave Jackson unattended in the backyard since he jumps the fence. She said she thinks it's fine now and he's been playing with Macy just fine out there. I got a call from my grandma yesterday at work saying one of my dogs was loose and that she thinks they came from the backyard but since they look exactly alike she didn't know which one it was. Guess who jumped the fence. Little shit.

I had turned on the sleep timer the night before, and unfortunately I need the tv's actual remote to do that. the comcrap remote controls everything else.
