she BOUGHT her seat thru donations to Republican "senators" who voted for her.
how is that hard to comprehend? How low are Republican voters willing to sink in what they consider morally right just for the idea of "power". We have a woman who bought her appointment & then bought her confirmation.

Fortunately she doesn't owe anyone anything. That is a perk of being Betsy DeVos. Do you really believe that? That she doesn't owe anyone? Or that no one is going to call a favor or that someone isn't expecting her to 'take her side'?

I'm not going to waste my breath arguing with you or anyone else. None of you know the DeVos' and I do. She can't do a worse job than her predecessors and she might just do a good one. At least she's going in with a "what I can do for the country" as opposed to "what can the country do for me."

She bought her position. She paid senators (bribed) for her confirmation. She's going into the job with "what can Betsy do for Betsy. All that money spent finally paid off." It's pay for play. We heard about it more fucking times than anyone can count when Clinton was accused of it. Now we're seeing it be done, right in front of our faces, but it ain't Clinton who's doing it. It's the Republicans! The ones who did all the bitching & whining. The ones who ran an entire campaign about how bad it was and how they would NOT do it. Everything she said about him is true. Every last thing he accused her of, he's doing. And not a one of his followers gives a shit. It's mind boggling.

Michigan certainly didn't improve by any metric I would use... so what is her metric?

I don't know. She doesn't feel the need to inform me. But I hope she does a good job.

I think Zib and Oped and Steff all have different definitions/expectations of "good job" by her though. You two might want to define terms.

I think she'll be better at being more tactful at that job than I would be. Parental responsibility would be number one with me.

How would that be Federally enforceable?
My concern is her goals would mirror the link I posted in 33...

I'm just amazing that no Republican voters have a problem with a rich person BUYING a cabinet position. Pay for play on a Federal level and they don't even bat an eye over it. How much did she pay for that, Steff??

I dont need the federal govt to educate my child. So the hysterical meltdown of the Left is most entertaining.

You know, it would have been nice to see a single Trump nominee anywhere who was not seemingly dedicated to the destruction of the department they were chosen to lead. It only seems that way as we move into a reduced government phase.

Of course we don't bat an eye. We're in control now. That kind of stuff should be a national conversation when a democrat resides in the white house.

I just don't want one that is so opposed to the people and exists only to benefit or enrich the ones in power.

If you can let me know how this can stop, I'm all ears. (or eyes as this is a printed word forum) Well, we could start by not electing those whose lives have been dedicated to self-promotion and enrichment at the expense of everyone around them. Say what you want about politicians. Neither side is immune from wanting power and fortune. There is no doubt, however, which side is more idealistic and at least tries to help the people who need it rather than people who don't. One thing is certain though. Even as exploitative as GOP politicians or administrations generally have been, there is none in memory that promises to be as bad as this one. This is a person who has lived his entire career on the idea that money, power, and fame are the most important things in life. There is zero expectation among any truly thinking persons that anything will change now that he is in position to exploit those to a greater extent than ever before.

Others view it as administrative experience.

Perhaps if we raise taxes our government scientists can find a cure for this epidemic.

DeVos is the Secretary of Education. She should know what is going on in her area. If Hillary Clinton was responsible for every thing which happened around the world while she was Secretary of State, so is DeVos responsible for everything in the Department of Education. See how that works? (And my comments aren't directed specifically to you but to all that dumped on Hillary Clinton and Obama.)

Interesting, don't mind the typo! What does this have to do with this thread? Is it to point out Walton (the 154th largest donor according to your link) donated less than 1% to Republicans? How about Adelson (the #1 largest donor) who donated $3,259,300 to politicians yet every single dollar went to a Republican. So what? It's their money to do what they please with it. At least Walton donated a few dollars to Republicans.
