I have to be honest. We have never changed a timing belt, and I never realized they were such a problem, and we have driven two cars for over 200,000 miles. Probably just guarenteed we will have a timing belt go out for simply acknowledging we never had it happen...... Depends on what you drive. Timing belts are common on four cylinder engines. Many larger engines use a longer lived timing chain.
