What do you like in yours?
I am apparently addicted to these things. I crave them constantly! (STFU TD!!!!)
One day I posted on FB that I liked a pickle in mine and POM thought it was hilarious. So I have been thinking ever since...(yes I know I don't have a life), what do OTHER people put in their Bloody Marys (hmmm what is the plural form of Bloody Mary?)
Here is what I put in mine. FYI I am very picky about the Bloody Mary mix too. I can't stand most of the commercial mixes because they taste like ketchup to me. I drink Zing Zang mix. Then I put in a couple of splashes of Frank's "because I put that sh!t on everything!", then I put a celery stick, a pickle spear, and some olivs on a toothpick. To me there just doesn't seem to be any other way to drink them.
So what say the rest of you?
(yes I am bored and sick of cleaning).

What kind of vodka do you usually use? I usually use Svedka.

I make them with clamato juice instead of tomato juice, tequilla instead of vodka, tobasco, worchestershire, pepper, and a celery stick (although the pickled green bean sounds intriguing), poured into a salt & pepper-rimmed glass.

That's why I use Clamato juice - it's not as thick as tomato juice and adds a nice flavor.

I also don't eat clams. At least, not the kind that come from the sea. I used to make them for my wife, she liked them with V-8 juice, white rum, and Old Bay spice.

Does a bloody mary count as a veggie serving?

What kind of vodka do you usually use? I usually use Svedka. If I'm feeling rich or a special occasion, Grey Goose. Otherwise Skye. And of course it counts as a veggie serving. Two if you eat the green bean! ;D

V-8, vodka, celery salt, few dashes Worcestershire or Tabasco, pickle or celery - depends on my mood. The Old Bay seasoning sounds like and interesting option.

We also use Clamato, but use the traditional vodka. We add a dash of Worcestershire, horseradish to taste, and celery salt. Serve with a stalk of celery for garnish. Hmmm....I do like the idea of throwing in a couple of large/huge stuffed green olives.

I want another Bloody Mary today...but I think they are making me FAT! It CAN'T be all the cupcakes or donut holes that have been forced upon me by my co-workers! It HAS to be the Bloody Mary......or the celery!

And yes - it counts as 8 vegetables. And the celery stick is the 9th one. ;D

<<hides behind Daphne>> Mich, how are you doing? I still can't believe you had to have another surgery so soon after your last one.

I'm doing just OK POM. my belly's just a little tender right now so it's not so easy to move. Far cry from when my mom had this surgery 30 years ago and she was cut from one end to the other! I just have 5 little holes in my belly.
I did want to stay longer at TD's, but was not planning on doing it this way and don't recommend it. Emergency surgery sucks and the lack of control you have to deal with can drive you nuts.

LOL! You don't know?
Sunday morning, I wound up in the ER doubled over in pain. It happened last weekend too, but pain went away so TD and I left and didn't bother to get it checked out (lot of people waiting to be seen and was expecting at least another 2 hour wait after having already waited 2 hours). Turns out, I had a very angry gall bladder that was making noises, so had it taken out laparoscopically that night. Surgeon thought that there were additional stones in the bile duct, so did an MRI on Monday and sure enough, there were. So had a second procedure yesterday to retrieve the remaining stones.
Just got released from the hospital a couple hours ago, after the GI doc could be sure that his procedure yesterday didn't send me into pancreatitis.

WOW!!! Nope I didn't know. I don't get to log on every day anymore. When I do log on I usually only post to a thread or 2 and then log back off. Thank goodness you are ok. That must have been scary and painful!

Emergency surgery sucks and the lack of control you have to deal with can drive you nuts. Although it does sound much better than what your mom went through, that still sounds awful. And I agree with you about the lack of control you have for emergency surgery. My gf came over today and there was one year she had 3 surgeries! We were talking about hoping to never need any more until we're too senile to know what's happening. They all suck, but out-patient surgeries are the only bearable ones IMO. I truly hope you feel better soon and get more "fun" time with your TD before going back home!

Swedish in Seattle was a lot better, especially the food ;D
The local hospital just seemed disorganized. I realize they got Mich in and removed the gallbladder on an emergency basis and that went well. The next day they were supposed to do an MRI and then if needed, remove any stones from the bile duct. So they of course put her on no fluids and when you are taking narcotics, you get really thirsty. They farted around all day, finally did the MRI at about 5:30 and then decided at about 8:00 pm they wouldn't be doing the procedure so she could drink for a few hours before they put her back on no fluids. Fucking stupid, I should have ripped someone a new asshole. Next morning we are supposed to have the procedure, she's on no fluids and the nurses are saying "but nothing is scheduled". So I left a not too happy voice mail to the surgeon asking just what was going on and expressing my displeasure with leaving someone on NPO all yesterday and day 2 again with nothing apparently scheduled.
He did call me back and talked to Mich also and the procedure did happen and Mich happily laid on her bed after it and passed gas (doctor's orders as they had to inflate the abdomen for the procedure). I came late and she was on limited diet, some jello and awful juice, it was either from concentrate or added sugar, talk about deadly sweet. The nurse said if she was okay after eating in a few hours, she could have something more substantial. I had left and came back in to find out that during shift change, the new nurse didn't know anything about her getting anything else when the doctor's orders said soft food only so nope. Mich was nearly ready to cry she was so hungry and I had had about enough of this BS so I offered we go for a walk (she was supposed to go for walks to avoid blood clots) and we stopped by the cafeteria. They were closed but we got a pretty good chicken wrap from the vending machine, quite good actually.
Just a dysfunctional place. If I need anything I have a choice over, I'm going to consider going elsewhere.
