That hurricane that hit Fl. & came up through Ga. recently, some of the effects were felt in my area and as you know, my county is the largest ag producer in the state of Ga.
What I've been reading is that it either destroyed or severely damaged 30% of the pecan crop where it went through and it also did some damage to the cotton crop.
Prices 'might' go higher due to this damage.

I am SOOOOOO hopeful of getting a decent pecan crop this year. The branches are heavy with nuts so maybe? It will save me about $100 over the next two years (how many pecans I normally use in cooking and baking) based on what I got two years ago from my trees.

Of all of our volunteer trees that are getting close to 15 yrs. old, we finally got "blooms" and a few nuts on one tree this year. They look like they could be papershell pecans...those are good!
Not sure where you are located buystoys, but in my area if you get excess you can sell them locally. Once I start getting a decent crop, Ill have some cracked and pick them while I watch tv or sit on the front porch and sell any I don't need. Sure wish I could get some Carpathian walnuts (English walnuts) to grow here...I use more walnuts in baking than I do pecans. You don't get much when you sell them...depending on their quality it seems to range from 35-95 cents per lb. around here.
