Is this going to be more of an open house or an actual party, Debt?
If it's an open house, where you will have people wandering in over several hours, you'll want to keep the hot stuff to things that you have ways of keeping them warm without damaging the integrity of the food over time. For instance, soup in a crockpot will keep it warm, but some things don't look (or taste) so good once they cool down.

I don't have much time to post now (DH's family is here from the UK) but thank you for all your suggestions! I agree about the soup.
I'll make it for the family over the weekend but not for the party. I love the idea of wraps ... I will do salmon wraps and chicken wraps instead of chicken tenders.
I will look at the recipe links later.
Mich it's a party not an open house. My DH be crazy.
Thanks again!

I was at a buffet that served little pieces of hard salami rolled like a cone and filled with a flavored cream cheese.
I made them for my husband's retirement party. You have hard salami sliced thin at the deli counter. Bring them home and cut the circles in half so you have little semi circles. Wrap the salami into a cone and secure with a dab of cream cheese on a knife. Pop the salami cones in the freezer while you work so they keep their shape.
Next, mix cream cheese with your favorite dry seasonings (ranch, walnuts, fresh cracked pepper, dry Italian dressing, etc.) and warm it to room temp. I fill a pastry bag with the cream cheese mixture and squirt the cones full of cream cheese. At this point you can refrigerate or freeze the appetizers.
Very simple and easy to make. They look great stacked on a plate.

Bacon wrapped jalapenos with cream cheese. Very easy, not spicy, and TASTY!!!!!!!! I think the original recipe might be from pioneer woman but I might be wrong. My grandma makes those, they are delicious

she asked for things that could be either vegetarian or gluten free, or that could easily be tweaked to be either. at least, that's what I read.

Bacon anything isn't vegetarian. The OP asked for vegetarian. She was looking for finger food, including that for vegetarians and gluten free. She was not looking for ONLY finger food that was gluten free or veg.

Bacon anything isn't vegetarian. The OP asked for vegetarian. She could substitute soy bacon. I personally wouldnt, but anyone else is free to do so.

DH's cousins have all arrived (bearing plenty of groceries from the UK) but it's pretty much total panic. I'm not sure how many of those suggestions will get done, but again, I appreciate them. I should have asked a week ago.

so we're making bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos right now... here's hoping they turn out okay w/o any cream cheese in the mix. mixing/stuffing was a little different this time.

I'm getting really old. When I saw the subject line I read it to say Party food (deadly finger food)
Now going back to read some of the suggestions. Cooking isn't my thing so no suggestions from me!!

Who claims not to like deviled eggs?!? That's just crazy talk. I love those things but am way too lazy to make them myself. Love, love, love potlucks because people less lazy than me make and bring deviled eggs. I need to make some next week since I didn't make any for Easter. I'm not ashamed of my love for deviled eggs I had 8 people over (so 10 total with DH) yesterday and had lunch. I cooked 8 eggs (so 16 deviled eggs). I had to eat one that broke while filling and one fell on the floor and dog enjoyed it. At end of the day there were none leftover Making more next time

One of my favorite apps a little crostini w/ fig jam a little sliver of manchego and prosciutto. My mouth waters just thinking about it!
Also goat cheese served in some marinara. Great with toasted baguette brushed with pesto.
Dear God I miss dairy!!!

Also, just FYI Snyder makes really good gluten free pretzels. I actually prefer them to the regular pretzels. I like to offer them as a side with a cheese plate or hummus/ other dip.
I also like to dip the pretzels in chocolate or a little bite of sweetness.

Fresh tuna is amazing! And really expensive, if you're buying sashimi-grade.

I like my fresh tuna quickly seared on the outside, and raw on the inside. It's divine. OR, I make sashimi with sticky rice.

The party was a great success!
I ended up making chicken wraps, and salmon and cream cheese on mini-blinis. DH and his cousins made a bunch of salads. A lot of guests brought dishes too. DS1 and his GF made a couscous salad with tons of fresh herbs, and DS2 and his GF made parma / rocket / avocado wraps.
And yes "real tuna" = tuna that doesn't come out of a can.
I'm still recuperating lol.
ETA: So kill me but I like devilled eggs too! A friend of DH's does an "easy" version ... she pours the spice / mayo / ketchup / mustard mixture over the eggs instead of mixing it with the yolks. I meant to do that too but it never happened.

I made deviled eggs Monday. I still have hard boiled eggs, so I'll fix the rest of them up as deviled eggs tonight or tomorrow. I blame this thread.
I also need to get phylo dough so I can see if I can make those pinwheel things.
