I know I will get grief for posting this. The guy was raised by shit parents who apparently taught him shit values. He did a terrible thing and compounded that by not taking responsibility. Maybe jail is the right thing. I wouldnt want to have been raised the way he was. I don't know what should happen but if he were to become a better person it wouldn't make things worse and if he has a horrible prison experience it will not make things better.
I think what should be hoped for is remorse and him changing. I think punishment is part of that. I don't know what is the answer but I don't think the answer will come from hate or " fuck that guy" attitudes.just my opinion

He wasn't showing a lot of remorse when he broke probation last year, in my opinion. And mom wasn't helping. Getting him into jail and away from his parents may very well be the making of him.

He did however, have his chance to straighten out his act, which he didn't. His parents and him should of gotten the message the first time with an easy sentence. That first easy sentence took into account the things you stated. Then running to Mexico after the video came to light, with mom no less, made it pretty obvious neither were getting the message. Now the ante has been upped a little bit. I don't know if it's going to be enough IMO. Yes, the prison system can suck big time and he did have a chance to avoid it. Violating parole after killing people will put you in there.

Not that this video below has anything to do with the affluenza teen, but on the People's Court yesterday, the opening case was about a woman who wanted $1,500 from the defendant because she had ordered a rum birthday cake instead of the red velvet case she initially ordered. The red velvet cake was mistakenly delivered to the party. The birthday girl, who had turned 22, stormed out of the party leaving all the guests behind because the wrong cake was delivered. The mother wanted the baker to pay for the venue site, the DJ, and all the decorations. The judge was disgusted with the mother and told her that her daughter was going to have a very hard life in the future. The judge ordered the Defendant to pay the mother $34, the cost of the cake. After the trial ended, the mother said the judge's decision was unfair and she was entitled to $1,500. The mother is going to have a very hard life in the future too. Twenty second preview clip below: People's CourtMother/Daughter just had what's called a "reality check".

Or just this wealthy kid? You could say that every gang-banger and criminal was raised by shit parents who taught shit values. n'est pas?
